Can you send a link to the exact model you refer to on the pogoplug, preferably on ebay or buy.com or amazon or somewhere I can buy it right off for cheap!

Not sure what you mean by cheap. As I said they can be had from about $25 to $40 on the places I listed. They may not be a model POGO-E02 as mine is, which means you have to follow different ARCHLinuxarm installation instruction as listed on their Web site. I bought mine from buy.com for $24.99 and now it is $37.99. The ones I am finding now are Pink and model POGO-B01.
Here are a couple of links:

http://www.jr.com/pogoplug/pe/PGG_POGOB01/
http://www.buy.com/prod/pogoplug-person ... 88297.html

The last one is the one I bought. On the Web site it says POGO-P21, but the unit in the box is really a POGO-E02.

I have ordered a POGO-B01 just so I can load ARCHLinuxarm on its and see what differences there may be.

Maybe TJF1960 can tell use where he got his and how much it cost.

02-14-2012: This morning buy.com has POGO-P21 which is really the POGO-E02 inside on sale for $22.99.

This is the one I purchased thru eBay...which was shipped by Buy.com and they have dropped the price on eBay as well to $22.99 with free econo shipping. It is the Pogoplug E-02 as well.

I am going to order 1 or 2 more for backup at this price.

Just make sure you don't buy these ones:

Thanks for the warning.

The one I listed above thru eBay is a "Model: Pogoplug-E02" on the bottom sticker and not "Model: Pogoplug Video" as in the recall list.

Bought it. Thanks.

So, how does this work? Does the thing still work as a pogoplug or are we altering the OS to work only as a CAI communicator?

It's altering the pogoplug so it no longer acts as a server to the cloud, I don't know if there is a way to keep that functionality or not, Jack will have to chime in on that one.

So far I have the pogoplug tied in with 3 cai boards and have modified a script to send updates to ISY variables from the Filtrete 3m-50 wifi thermostat.

When you install ARCHLinuxarm on the USB drive and reboot, you are running ARCHLinuxarm from the USB drive. It does not have any of the pogoplug software on it. But you did not destroy the original kernel and pogoplug software. If you shutdown the PogoPlug and remove the USB drive and power off and on, you will boot the original kernel and pogoplug software. Insert the USB drive again and reboot and you will be running ARCHLinuxarm again.

All of this is explained on the archlinuxarm.org site either in the installation or on their forums. I know it means doing a little reading, but it is best to become a little familiar with it from there, than asking here. But I am willing to answer questions that I know the answer to, but I may just refer people to the archlinuxarm.org site where others with more experience can better answer the question and/or they already have.

If you have never used UNIX/Linux then there is going to be a little learning curve. But if you follow the installation instruction from archlinuxarm.org and my instructions for installing and setting up the caiwc program, it should not be hard. Yes, there are lots of other things that can be done once you become familiar with things.
