I have three Polisys stacked, in my little lab setup. I use them for testing. Just this morning as I was doing other stuff, one of them beeped twice, like a Polisy does during a reboot (though a full reboot beeps three times). I don't know which one, but I've only really been using one of them a lot lately for testing the new releases of IoX and eisy-ui. This beep thing also happened a number of days ago. My first thought was to ssh into each one and look at the unix uptime: no reboots on either one. From my previous endless poking around in these things, I know that some of the beeps come from the udx startup scripts. So I looked at the running udx processes. The "Startup" column in ps -aux shows that udx_svc and udx_cmd have been running for some time, but then I sometimes see a second instance of one or both of these commands, with the startup time of the current time, as I issue the ps -aux command. These second copies quickly terminate. Seems to be happening quite often (I run a while loop every 5 seconds to see the udx processes).

In one instance, I also saw it actually try to run the udx startup script, /usr/local/etc/rc.d/udx. I guess the attempt is so short that I just have to be lucky to catch the process on the fly. I'm not getting beeps, so it must always be failing the startup because udx is already running, though those beeps I heard means it must succeed every few days. I was thinking that maybe this is normal, to restart it in case udx failed for whatever reason. Just to be sure, I ran the same loop on the other two Polisys and on my eisy. Yes, they seem to be attempting regular restarts like that.

So it means that I might be getting periodic udx dying events. The udx log file doesn't show anything unusual for the time when I heard the beeps this morning. Has anyone else noticed this kind of thing on their Polisy?

It's not a problem or an operation issue for me, so I'm only asking casually, in the name of science! 😄

Wi-fi dimmer smartplug

anyone see one that works withe the Polisy. Just a heads up to the community. I recently had my Policy start crashing periodically and restarting, then it would be down for lengths of time. I finally submitted a ticket and Micheal was fairly quick with a reply to replace the external power supply. Tentatively, this looks like it's solved the problem and I noticed the LED on the power supply was no longer lit. It was providing some power because the third light was flashing, but was unable to carry the load apparently. This does not appear as a troubleshooting step to the third light blinking problem in the manual. So, information for those in a future search.

When I go to run the upgrade, I get the following message, which seems good . . .

Within a few seconds of that, my Polisy reboots, and comes up running again within a minute or so, running the same old version.

I did check the sysConfig.txt ahead of time, which produced the following output, showing that I am running at least the minimum version necessary for the upgrade, but the last line is interesting in that it says, "UDX_UPGRADE_STATUS="inactive". What does that mean?

For what it's worth, my ISY Portal license is active. Is there anything else that would cause the upgrade status to be "inactive"?

I downloaded the pg3 and System messages. When the polisy reboots, I do see these lines which seem like they might be relevant to the failed (or no-op) upgrade:

In the system messasges.txt, I see a few errors immediately after the reboot, including one "REPORT THIS!" line:

Everything seems to run fine after this, but the upgrade simply never happens, and never appears to really get started. All this happens in about a minute (or two), rather than the 30 minutes warned by the dialog when starting the process.

I've read through the wiki and it seems they should be working - is it because I have a Polisy?

I just seems bothersome for accessing your programs and such to require you portal login....

I just tried to upgrade my backup Polisy to 6.0. I pulled it from storage and connected it, and the Launcher found it, but it said that I needed to upgrade to isy 6.0. This is even though my main Polisy is still there, and still on 5.9.1. Weird. I said "no", and it exited. Connected again from Launcher. This time I said "yes", and it presented me with some kind of "don't interrupt" dialog, then exited, and the Polisy beeped a few times. Since then, the Launcher is unable to find it, though it still finds the main Polisy and launches the AC on it just fine.

I don't know what to do next. I can't launch the AC to start the upgrade on the backup Polisy. When I ssh into it, it says it's still on FreeBSD 14.1, and the isy service isn't running. So I guess that's why the Launcher can't find it, but how do I upgrade if I can't launch the AC?
