  1. I've got a bogus link in my ISY link table. It doesn't appear in the My Lighting or scenes... only in the Diagnostics via ISY Link Table check. It probably got in there somehow via old manual links and numerous firmware upgrades. I'm running ISY-26 with v2.7.15 I can get rid of it by removing the device, then re-adding it and removing all links. Is there a more direct way? I assume there's a way to telnet into the thing and hack through a table, which I'm sure is just enough access to wreak real havoc.

    Win 7 / ISY-26

Got it... just didn't plug things in the right order the first time.

    Win 7 / ISY-26

I just got around to opening the ISY-26 I ordered a few years back. I can't seem to get it to show up in Windows 7 under "Network"... I don't have any older machines with XP on which to test it. Anyone have any suggestions?
  4. So I did it. I just hit the "buy now" button for another order from Smarthome, which included an ISY-26. I'm a little worried that my PLM will go belly-up if I hit too many links. Considering that there's a "new" PLM allegedly coming out soon. If I make a BrickLinc out of my PLM, would I be able to get a new one? I know this is a SH question, but I'm afraid to post it on their forum out of fear that they'll weasel me out of another $60 for the new PLM.

    ISY-26 review

I feel dirty. I was holding out for the ISY-99.9. I even made to EHX (well, date-wise). But then Smarthome sent me a 20% coupon, and I caved. I bought the ISY-26. I'm confident that it was still a good purchase though!
  6. Yeah, my signature is a little out-of-date. I've got a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house. [*:1aqltnw4]2nd Floor = 3 bedrooms, main bath, master bath [*:1aqltnw4]1st Floor = Foyer, Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Den/Fireplace Room, Powder Room (1/2 bath), laundry/mud room + 2 car garage [*:1aqltnw4]Basement = Fully finished with an L-shaped main room, small home office, and a long utility room I started with the living room and put in some new lights & fans. You've seen how I set that up to work with my Harmony 880 to fade the lights during a movie & give control during normal operation. The problem for me was that I still couldn't turn the adjacent rooms off. So I added Insteon switches to the adjacent rooms & the stairs/landings. Then the problem is with setup. It's so difficult to get it working with my current hacked setup, that it's too time consuming to get the adjacent rooms working. The average person could find the time to do it, but with a new baby, my time has been sucked away. I can't make it a partial solution, and I can't break what's already working... the WAF drops way too low. Basically, to do it right with the current setup, I need to blow away all my links and re-do them every time I add a new device. That's why I'm looking forward to 99.9. An ISY-26 could do it with X10 triggers, but if I can get another flaky piece in this setup gone, that's better. I just ordered a boatload of devices yesterday. It should be enough to cover all the major existing switches & lamps on the 1st & 2nd floors, and part of the basement.
  7. I swear that black_fx is describing my house exactly. You don't need network connectivity for ISY to work, but you do need it to program it (or control it via any sort of network/web interface). I was asking something similar because I know myself... I'll never be 100% happy with the way it's programmed so it's easier for me to have it on the network 100% of the time. I've never done it, but I think an access point and/or bridge is what we're looking for. Unfortunately, it's another "box" sitting in the living room. My stuff is split up inside an entertainment center... not in a true media closet. Getting an access point means more bulk in an already crowded, power-hungry area... I'm not looking forward to dealing with this problem in the future.
  8. Did I mention that I'm bummed-out that I can't get an ISY or 99.9 in time for this Christmas. Really, I'm kinda sad about it. (Forgive my enthusiasm. I get bit by the automation bug every few months and have a bipolar twitch about it. I need everything "now" and then go for a few months as if it doesn't exist)
  9. There's no way to connect the ISY/99.9 via WiFi, right? and I need to have it connected to the TCP/IP network to program it, right? The IR/RF pyramids sound like the ideal solution for me. I really don't want to run IR blasters through the walls. I can't go forward with the 417 link limit. There's just too much of a chance that I'm going to hit it. It wouldn't be so bad if I could recover from it, but rendering my automation useless waiting for a new PLM would be very bad... not to mention the cost if SH decided they wouldn't replace it. 2000 links seems more reasonable, but even that will just be a matter of time before I think of a way to exceed it.
  10. yeah, it's gotta work. Your IR Blaster (extender) would just need to be attached to the IR Receiver of the 99.9. That would work regardless of what the IR Receiver configuration of the 99.9 is.
  11. I went a little crazy yesterday @ SH.com, but I shouldn't exceed 256 devices/scenes. I am a little concerned about >417 links though. My device totals: 6-KPL 17-SL 17-LL 3-AL 1-PLC So that's about 350 links with 20 scenes... and I think I've still got more devices to buy. I'm a little nervous about making a BrickLinc. Will I have to IR beam 99.9 directly, or will it have 1 or more satellite IR Receivers that then send data over the powerline? It's (currently) inconvenient for me to have to program a device near the computer and then move it back to the entertainment center. Sorry if I'm rambling, or if these questions have been asked/answered already.
  12. I held off on getting an ISY-26 because I'm anticipating something better with "codename 99.9". Has UDI shared an engineering plan / feature list with the community? My deal is that I'm using a hacked PLC to make it a 2414X. I use this to control my lights via Harmony 880... but it's a little slow and ties up my PLC. I am going to create a killer holiday light display this year with LightShowMaster, which means I need to scrap the 2414X and turn it back into a standard PLC; but I will lose the kick-*** remote integration. So that brings me to my options: 1. Buy another PLC and don't mess with the 2414X 2. Buy an ISY-26 to use that with the X10 triggers (and use the PLC for LSM) 3. Wait for "codename 99.9" and hope that it does everything the ISY-26 does, provides an INSTEON IR solution (rather than X10), and hope that Harmony updates its DB with the IR codes 99.9 will use. I guess my dilemma is that I don't know what the 99.9 will do. Will it replace the ISY-26, or is it a complement of some sort? Am I wasting $300 buying a ISY-26 at this point if I will want/need the 99.9 later?
