  1. I am relieved to hear you solved your X10 problem! I still use my Honeywell Vista 128 alarm (not Turbo, the bp enhanced) that generates a myriad of X-10 event commands for the ISY to act upon. I love the new Honeywell Resideo alarm consoles they physically match a 3 gang Insteon touchpad array pretty well on the wall (see photo). I cannot stand the look of the Elk consoles if they would wise up I would go that direction. It's not the money for the upgrade it is the fear of something not working when/if I move to the eisy. Because I have an all-house-codes IR543 IR to X10 console I still use that for all my URC remotes (that report to the ISY via flasher from a URC RF receiver) to control lighting also. It's not clear to me the eisy even has an IR receive function but only in my worst nightmares would it not see X10 commands to act upon! I was never able to successfully implement the limited ISY ir code library and (believe it or not) the X10 IR codes via the URC remotes (all house codes x 16 = approx 256 ir codes for the ISY) work flawlessly for scene and macro activations. It's probably another thread somewhere, how are you getting IR commands to the eisy?

    IR with eisy

Was it improved (number of stored codes) or punted altogether and not a feature?
  3. Thank you for that Velux API link. My KLF200 just arrived today, very clean little unit with multiple references to input 3 which "as default, io-homecontrol° channel 3 is used used for communication and no signals are blocked". Is that referring to the native language I've already used for the basic enrollment with the paper clip and the blinking LED on the gateway? I suspect so. And that API link would expand upon that? Wouldn't that API already work with the Velux Gateway without the KLF200? Except for it's output relay? I have a buddy that could maybe help us out. I'll have to check with him on what kind of time he has. He usually only wants twelve-packs of Coors Lite but maybe more for something like this!
  4. The Velux HA module appears to have separate trip inputs for open and close, and reacts differently depending on time length of the closure. If I minimize and group I can get that down to three skylight scenes X2, requiring 6 inputs. Do the Mimo2's also have spdt output relays? If so I would require two of them, if not three of them.
  5. thank you bgrubb1, catchy name(fortrezz). I will look into it. Somehow I just can't see myself with a row of IOLincs!
  6. Thank you again lilyoyo1. That is why I included the short story mentioning the success with Homekit. Aren't they well on their way since Homekit picked it up so easily, and the fact that Velux is such a large player?
  7. Due to hail damage (little bumps on my skylight aluminum parts), and insurance, our re-roof turned into a free skylights upgrade. The roofer had shown up on the job with (6) manual openers but when I told him all of ours were motorized via infrared control he arrived with the new solar models a few days later. We were completely surprised as the last re-roof job they were just re-flashed. So free $1000+ each skylights....sure we'll take them! They are very impressive, but rf/wifi/bluetooth controlled. I purchased the Velux Active starter kit and the Gateway module synched in with the Eero mesh wifi effortlessly. Furthermore with IOS 14 they showed up in Homekit and I was able to expand into scenes somewhat like in the ISY for more flexible group controls. Even Siri perked up and responds to verbal open/close/scene commands. My Ecobee stat showed up there too. But as usual I don't have a clue, other than reverting back to my old X-10 tricks to interface to these skylights via the ISY (I'm still stuck in the 90's). Velux has the current KLF200 (ordered) that accepts inputs from relays. There is still no relay module available for ISY (asking too much), other than buying into an entire alarm system with ugly keypads. Will Polisy ever come to the rescue with the Velux skylights & blinds?
  8. I am not sure I am following this correctly. I have just a few Eero's at home and my ISY is not plugged into the ethernet jack on any of the Eero's (if I understand you right) I can try that if you wish? My ISY and first Eero are directly ethernet connected to my main switch which is connected to my Centurylink DSL router. I have not put that router into bridge mode to hand off DHCP duties to the eero, in fact I still have an auxiliary air conditioner (Kuhl) on the Centurylink router's wifi because it was such a pain enrolling it the first time. As it is I like my setup the way it is but may try full eero DHCP mode up at the lake this year. But, if you want me to try anything with my setup for your verification I am willing.
  9. This is a good read. I have to say I have one down in our shared condo garage that works flawlessly ....... on it's own, sitting on a storage cabinet. The neighbors love it as our building has a flawed lighting scheme where the common garage interior's are off all day. When I go into the garage to work for any time at all I take it off the storage cabinet and dis-able it with the on-board button, otherwise I have to move to keep the lights on! Since my buttons in our main entry hall (3 floors up) and master bedroom are responders from the load it controls they follow and control the load which is fine, but I too could not get anywhere with this thing, AND/OR the door transmitter. I plan to add some 5800 series wireless sensors down there that will better integrate with the ISY via the Vista 128 alarm panel and my precious AHC X10 IR receiver.(lol)
  10. Kind of off topic but I did figure out a way to POE the eero pros if you ever have the need. The eero folks say "pro installers only" and quoting huge dollar amounts. It took a lot of experimentation with power plug adapters and cables to find the right ones. And I am talking about the original eero pros, not the USB C versions. I needed a lot of them for a lake property so it was a lot less expensive to go gen 1 off eBay. (1) Pro off eBay + POE splitter + adapter way under $100.
  11. In my very limited knowledge of the ISY (for me it replaced a JDS TImecommanderPlus with no ethernet connection, but it did have IR output) will this device help me get IR output via the Global Cache IR devices? I guess in other-words I have a bunch of keypad buttons labeled for Velux IR skylight control and that will be my next project (to get them functioning). I am using the old Velux keypads-still, that have the IR flashers stuck to them. In checking the polyglot store I see nothing related to Global Cache. Is it too simple for that or too unrelated?

    Flic buttons

Couldn't bring up anything on a search, is anyone using these "Flic" buttons with the ISY? Easiest way to interface them? I think my wife would love one or two of these. I would much prefer these over the remote-lincs, I like they way they look and like the way they mount. Looks like the IR output on the Flic Hub would be the most rudimentary method.
  13. I bet I can answer this one! Include what ever triggered the light in the IF section, then use the "wait" command in the THEN section for 15 minutes, then the "off" command?
  14. LOL. I had 3 ceiling fans, a two speed whole house vent, and a two speed bath fan in my old X-10 setup. Took a lot of gang spaces but the relay-dimmer combos worked great. Now after a 50% failure of Fanlincs with my new Insteon system I am beginning to look back at the old method. Here is a picture of my JDS TC+ controlled three speed setup. Fortunately had plenty of room to hide this stuff (and still do if going back to this method using Insteon relays). Of my four new Fanlincs one won't make medium speed nor shut off, and another won't make high speed and hums half the time on the other speeds. What's alarming is these symptoms took a week or so to develop so you just never know if they are going to last I guess. Two seem to be stable. I have to say though, coming from my old system, I am absolutely blown away by the reliability of the rest of the stuff. And the way you can pile on the controllers and responders in a house full of 30 Keypadlincs is phenomenal.
