  1. Thanks everyone. I decided to jump ship to Home Assistant. I've simply had to many disappointments with the ISY994i. The product worked for quite a while but it always felt like it was half-baked. It was time to move on. -Wes
  2. @DennisC Sorry to hear that. But at least I know I'm not alone in this. Hopefully they will fix this soon. -Wes
  3. @DennisC I take it you are experiencing the "not found" error also? -Wes
  4. OK. So "IoX Finder" is a later version of the application? But what the heck is it looking for that it can't find (twice no less)? The error message is just about useless in diagnosing the problem. (See screen capture) If I had ever released software with such a useless error message I would have lost my job. -Wes
  5. I just noticed that the launcher says "IoX Finder"? (See screen capture) I think it used to say "ISY Launcher". What do you make of that? -Wes
  6. I don't believe I have the PRO version of the ISY994i. (See screen capture) I am running the Admin Console under Ubuntu Linux using IcedTea. So, I don't have access to the Java Console the way Windows users do. Maybe someone can tell me how to make the Java memory adjustments on my Linux system? -Wes
  7. My ISY994i has begun to exhibit a few problems: 1) It displays a "Not Found" message twice when launching (two pop-ups). (See screen capture) But after clearing the two pop-up dialogs, the admin console launches. 2) It won't let me create new folders. (See screen capture) Sometimes a pop-up appears and other times creating a new folder produces no response at all. 3) It won't let me create new scenes. (See screen capture) Sometimes a pop-up appears and other times creating a new scene produces no response at all. I was able to add a new Z-Wave module successfully (this is what brought me into the admin console today.) Not sure what has changed but something's not right. I restored from a recent backup but no improvement. Any help would be appreciated. -Wes
  8. That's too bad. Allowing a network resource to be called and then ignoring its response is really peculiar and quite non-standard. Calling a network resource and pray it actually works is hardly a robust methodology. Having to write a node-server to overcome this limitation seems like overkill. Oh well...
  9. A while ago I posted a question about using network responses in a program to direct program flow. The answers I got weren't what I was hoping for. But now that the EISY has been introduced, I'm wondering if this issue has been addressed? I know that my ISY994i is no longer supported and so I am now thinking about what my options are for the future. If network responses are able to be used in the new EISY to direct program flow that would certainly make me more likely to move toward the EISY. Here's the thread I started discussing the use (or inability to use) network responses in programs: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/41083-using-network-resource-response-in-a-program/ Can anyone provide a definitive answer to this issue? -Wes
  10. Thanks for the help. Somehow I missed the options you pointed out. -Wes
  11. Is there a way to do a text search across all of my ISY994i programs? I'd like to be able to quickly find references to specific variables, device names etc. -Wes
  12. I have a web application that I created (which runs on a dedicated Raspberry Pi), it provides a simple interface to all of the automation devices in my home. In one case I use the ISY's REST interface to set a variable on the ISY which is used as part of a countdown timer for my Whole-House fan. I really like the REST interface provided by the ISY.
  13. That's an interesting way of creating two-way communication between the ISY and an external device. However, I'm still wondering why the response from a Network Resource isn't acknowledged. Given that the response is a simple integer value, it would make sense to allow an ISY program to use it for flow control. I wonder if this has ever been put forth as a feature request to the UDI creators? -Wes
  14. So the answer to my question is: yes??? no??? I take it that responses from Network Resources are unable to be used in an ISY994i program but you have a work around? Can you elaborate a bit? -Wes
  15. Is there a way to use the response from a Network Resource in a ISY994i program? I have written a REST service that is running on a Linux box and would like to either use the HTTP response code or the HTML body response (JSON or simple text string) to direct the program flow. I've spent several hours searching the forums and ISY994i docs but can't seem to find an answer. -Wes
  16. I tried various Backlight level settings. I tried using the "Backlight" button after selecting a new level. And I tried using the "Write Changes" button to no avail. What might I be missing??? Has anyone else been able to control the LEDs in their 2457D2 modules? -Wes
  17. That flow chart is clear as mud. I am surprised that there are options that are *only* available through local programing. It would be so much better to also make them available through software. -Wes
  18. Sadly, it's looking like the white vinyl tape option might be the easiest. -Wes
  19. I am running ISY994i Firmware 5.3.4 so I should be good to go. I assumed that the "Backlight" option would let me configure the LED brightness but apparently not. In case it matters, the LampLinc is shown by the Admin Console as "LampLinc BiPhy v.43". -Wes
  20. I just wanted to follow up and say that the network module is working great! The software I wrote (a REST service running on a couple of Raspberry Pi's) is responding nicely to the ISY994i network module requests. My scenario is this: I have a Raspberry Pi 4 acting as a media center driving a wall mounted flat screen TV. The TV is connected to the Raspberry Pi via an HDMI cable. The Raspberry Pi is always ON and controls the TV's ON/OFF state via HDMI-CEC. I can now have the ISY994i issue a network request to the REST service running on the Raspberry Pi and the Raspberry Pi will turn the TV On/Off. So now I have a bedside console that commands the ISY994i which then commands the Raspberry Pi which then commands the TV. It is a few hops to get the job done but it works well. -Wes
  21. I have a couple of 2457D2 (plug-in dimmer modules) and I would like to know how to turn the LED indicator light off. Is there a way to do this from my ISY994i? I have some FanLinc units and the ISY994i allowed me to turn their LED indicators off. It seems that every single gadget I have in my house comes with an LED indicator of some sort and I find it annoying to try and sleep when there's a constellation of little LEDs piercing the darkness. Very annoying... -Wes
  22. Thanks everyone for the guidance. I was able to purchase the Network Module thru the UDI website. Earlier I sent UDI a couple of emails (which they can now discard.) The Network Module is now appearing in my UDI Admin Console. Yay! I need to interface my ISY994i with some software I'm writing that runs on a couple of Linux boxes and the network module looks to be the key to accomplishing this. Now I'm off to do some experimentation! Thanks again, -Wes
  23. Unfortunately, the "Help/Purchase Modules" leads to a 404 (not found) page on the UDI website.
  24. I understand that the ISY994i is at EOL, but wanting to add the network module is not asking for further development. Unlike the Z-Wave add-on PCB which has to be manufactured, the Network Module is software and should be available as long as there are ISY994i's that might need it.
  25. Bummer! I just noticed that the"purchase modules" page no longer works. When did it get shut down? It seems that I'm always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to my dealings with UDI. So is it actually impossible to obtain the network module now? I finally have an actual need for it. -Wes
