  1. Thanks very much - I'm much smarter now! If the portal will be the eventual path to Amazon Echo integration, I'm all in.
  2. I haven't been paying much attention lately, so I'm a little confused about the plan for the ISY Portal feature. I see that there is an ISY Portal upgrade module available for $175. Is this going to be the up front cost to upgrade to version 5 when it becomes an official release, or is that upgrade module something different? Thanks
  3. Thanks....it had been so long I had forgotten how to setup Remotlincs. Everything is good now.
  4. I may have just forgotten how these Remotelincs are supposed to work. My old Remotelinc and new Remotelinc 2 work, but when I update scenes, both of them give me the 'Cannot communicate with .....' error and I get the red exclamation mark next to the Remotelinc objects in my lighting. But as soon as I actually use the remotelinc, it works fine and the red exclamation marks go away. I did upgrade to the 3.1.10 beta firmware, but I didn't think this was related to the firmware, so I posted it here. (To be honest, I'm confused about what the ISY is actually writing to, when the my lighting shows 'Writing' next to the remotelinc buttons just before the Cannot communicate error. It is my understanding that communications are one way from the remotelincs?)
  5. Thanks for the response....so I'll link all my controllers to the ISY and go from there. Just out of curiosity, can a Insteon responder be linked to more than one controller (i.e., two different RemoteLincs controlling the same Switchlinc). That seems to be a very basic concept that I haven't grasped yet. I've gone through the user's guide, but just got hung up on this point for some reasone.
  6. I'm still getting familiar with the ISY-99 and Insteon, so bare with me. Quoting Michael from a different post: BEGIN QUOTE "........If you already have all your devices linked in ISY, then you would NEVER EVER need to use the paddle press/set button on any of the linked Insteon devices unless you wish to reset them......" END QUOTE So if I have a RemoteLinc, does this mean I should never link it directly to something link a Switchlinc, and instead link my RemoteLinc to an object (i.e. Scene) in the ISY...or am I mis-interpreting his statement. Thanks.
