  1. Michel: PLEASE!!!! I know developmental software is super time consuming and expensive. With that, i hope you will consider a re-do on the admin console (adobe based) for those of us that still like to use a laptop.
  2. Still running ISY 994. Every time i look to upgrade to EISY the add-on Z-wave dongle is not available,,,sigh,,,. The question i have is the desktop software for EISY. Think i read it's the same for ISY. I have Mobilinc, which is ok, but i still use my laptop for most programing. Are we still tied to the yuk adobe based admin console ? Or does it become a must-do to jump to something like home assistant. Thanks for input!
  3. Thanks - much better understanding of what the matter-board comes with. For anyone else that wants to try and understand what is happening in the zwave device arena and if the product that you are buying is in "current technology" (whatever that really means), go to www.z-wavealliance.org This site will give you the ability to look up a product by manufacturer and see if it is 700 compatiible . From what i can see, looks like most all of the z-wave plus devices are 700 series. i only have insteon and zwave devices, but if this "attachment" comes with a zigbee antenna and software, it's sorta game on for some additional devices. One thing i know for sure, can you imagine what the posts will be on this and other sites 5 years from now? Think it's super important to continue to carry these blog sites forward to share info. and ideas.
  4. A2Z -i'm about the same place today that you were last month. If you received all of your components, can you comment on performance, ease to convert, etc.? Also really wondering about range of the zwave matter module. silab's 700 supposedly is 1/2 the range of 800. So, wonder if the U.D. will at some point make the zwave device that works with eisy capable of a huge upgrade to 800. trying to see what is coming and how well this may work over my 994i. thanks
  5. howdy. ok - i've had a isy 994 for several years. We live on 8 acres and have two buildings on the property. Getting a reliable zwave signal to all of my devices had been challenging, but after some tweaks, it has been pretty reliable. Now on to Eisy. All pretty straightforward, right? hmm, not for me. Insteon (with their kit), does not look like a big deal. However, i am confused about the zwave matter module . this is also pretty straight forward, but in the description is an interesting snipit. I'll copy: Enhanced Range Start enjoying the enhanced range afforded by high caliber external antennas (on the sides) in conjunction with SiLab’s 700 series Z-Wave and Zigbee/Matter radios. Ok - so do i assume: 1/this usb zwave module comes with (1) antenna for zwave? Also, if you have not done so, take a peak at silabs web site. If you do any reading over there, one inquisitive smart home dude might say, hey, will this matter usb module eventually be able to be upgraded to SiLabs 800series? or better yet to SiLabs zwave LR (they are giving ranges in the description of this product that would allow this controller, with no range extenders, to reach the far corners of my 8 acre property). So, hoping someone out there knows more about the future of this module than i do. thanks for weighing in.
  6. i did. thanks - yeah, tons of space on the sd. not sure what's up with the node count .
  7. I actually did both. Remove the zwave device from isy, and do a factory reset. Pulled the 32gb sd card and looked at it's space - plenty there. The program "guts" of ISY are not that significant. Something though is very wrong, because this afternoon ISY deleted another Schlage z-wave lock. So, i had 7 functioning, now i am down to 5. One interesting clue. The personal code that one can add to the zwave lock no longer works either. I'm completely stumped.
  8. I have the pro version. I had not thought about the space issues. I have tried every way on planet isy to delete-add,etc this 7th. lock. i did replace the 32gb sd card about a year ago. I also have a ton of stuff running on my system. So, one would ask, how do we see how much of our s.d. card is occupied outside of removing it and putting it in another device to read?
  9. Ok - i am running a 994 with current software. In my house, i have about 30 insteon and 30 z-wave devices. I also have 7 Schlage z-wave door locks. My house is pretty large and rectangular. I also have an outbuilding 70' away from the main dwelling. This has all given me ample challenges getting a reliable signal to both buildings. Many experiments with Aeotec 7 range extenders have given me a pretty reliable signal to all areas. Problem: a few weeks ago, the Schlage z-wave lock on the outbuilding "vanished" off of the ISY console. Just dissapeared. i excluded it (that actually worked), but there is absolutely nothing i can do to re-add it. Figured this was a hardware failure in the lock, so went through a test with a Schlage tech, and they agreed, and sent me a new one. Same result. I flat out can't add another lock. Weird thing to me is that there are 6 others , exact same model, running off this ISY. Anyone have this issue, or is there another way to try and add this device. While programing, i have kept the ISY a foot away from the lock, but it still won't pair.
  10. Me too. Limited research on it, but virius protection isn't screaming and i see nothing in the tank about it. I thought the same thing you did above - what is up with the extensions given start/admin open in a browser. Makes me do another hmm,, . So, it's working, shouldn't be this big of a deal, and hopefully at some point the developers will figure out an easier way to get shortcuts on the desktop and taskbar. Thanks again for all info. and responsive posts.
  11. Well, the beauty of these forums is that the comments usually lead to re-thinking a problem. Hart-2-Hart and Mr. Bill , i appreciate your comments. Got to thinking about google chrome, and did some research. Turns out that chrome did eliminates some extensions, including java. I downloaded what i will mistakenly call a patch that allows extensions to run in chrome. I'm not a browser expert, so i just have a basic grasp of how java and search engines work or don't work in common. The download came from a site listed as "IE Tab" and allowed me to add java extensions. Hmmmm, could this be the end of 4 hours of work? Yup, it was. Allowed me to drop a shortcut in the task bar that now, with one click, opens the admin console. So, passing along . Thanks guys for the helpful input.
  12. i put up a post somewhere on the forum that pretty much asked the same question. i don't have any zigbee devices or anything to run them on, but if i'm behind U.D, my eyes are over the horizon watching Home Assistant and others , and more importantly recognizing that Insteon ditched, so does that mean more zig devices get sold. A stumper today, but boy would l look at amazon and do a big "what if" we redesigned 994 or new name machine that has a usb port for a dual band usb stick. i would jump in 2 seconds to my wifes bank account and buy one.
  13. ahhhhh,,,,,, you may both be on to something here. With my old fuzzed up memory, i think i tried two or three times last night to do just that - save the jnlp file, but my browser would not allow that. Thought that was strange, so maybe next steps will be to look in to the java security settings and see if i can do what hart2hart did as well.
  14. MrBill - thanks for your comments. I think i'm pretty much on track to do exactly what you have in the comments above. Right now, i'm away from my home office/network, so i'll try some other options tonight. I did try the exact route that you have above, and you are correct, i did have the admin.jnlp saved on the taskbar. Once the re-load process was finished., i tired exactly what you have above. my ip, /admin.jnlp. However, after about an hour of tugging at my system, the only way i can get isy to open is in the comments above. One other weird thing happened before i tossed the towel in for the night. When i tried to use the http://IP.ADDR.OF.ISY/admin.jnlp. later on. it opened some kind of universal devices page that said something about "keep this page open" . i just x'd it out but probably should have taken a screen shot of that. So that i am moving this in the right direction, i'll assume that i'm trying to get the isy launcher back on the taskbar, correct? That is what i have there now, but once again, it will only open isy finder and nothing else. i can not figure out a way to make the launch bypass the steps of opening the finder then clicking on the actual ip address or the ud number. thanks again for reading all this - Isy is a great device. it's set up in a huge house with multiple repeaters/programs/insteon and z-wave, and the only real trouble i've had is with this goofy desktop settings.
