Hi... I couldn't find this with a search... What does the "Responding" status mean? What is it commonly used for? It's one of the status's for a switchlinc. Is it used for other devices and is the meaning the same for all of them? Thanks, Steve
-
I can answer some of your questions... I'm starting to think it is a communication problem. I'm finding some MS programs work now that didn't before. Seems like there is something happening communication-wise. I'll need some time to check if my dual-band devices are on both legs of the electrical system. I'm not sure what your asking me to do per your question "If you run an extension cord to outlets in other rooms and circuits to your PLM, does the performance change?". Are asking me to run an extension cord to my PLM? Finally... My PLM is about 8 feet from a surge protector and the ISY is about 3-4 feet above the same one. However ALL my surge protectors run through filters. Would that be enough to filter out interference? The major electrical units that might cause interference that are not filtered and run frequently are 2 refrigerators and a furnace. (I really wish there were sensors for determining those "interferers".) Thanks, Steve

I didn't realize that. Hate to start a new topic within this one...but why can't that be done? It seems it would add better information for reliability and help for troubleshooting to know if something actually worked...

The ISY does indeed see the motion sensor. The ISY also shows that the devices in the scene are on...it's just that they are not. The other two programs are two other programs run by other motion sensors. I turn them off so the one that triggers its program is "in control". Maybe that is the problem. I'm trying LeeG's "wait 1 second" statement in front of the first Scene On statement and that's seemed to help...but only time will tell.
-
The responders turn on occasionally. The ISY shows them on but they are not on the first Scene On. I put the "wait 1 second" before the first Scene On statement and it is better. Time will tell if that's the case. I did do that and they show they are at the % I set up in the scene.

LeeG -- That is what I had in mind and will do that in the future when I have more time to think it through. I also have manual switches and want to turn off the motion sensors when the manual switches are in use and need to figure that out. (I think that's why I used programs to turn them on rather than making motion sensors a controller in the scenes.) Oberkc - I can control the scene from the Admin console and yes, I previously ran a scene test and it passed. On running the "run then" command...I'm not sure what I would use to identify a "failure mode" as the then takes no action. I should let you both know that now that I've put in the 1 second wait before the first scene things seem to work fine but I've run out of time today to work on this and won't have time for a couple weeks to get back to it but I will re-think things when I next get time and restructure my programs to handle the manual switches better (so the programs like my example don't turn off the lights while my wife counts on them being on...which is not a good thing for her...or me). I've bookmarked Oberkc's technique for disabling motion sensing programs when manual switches are in in use... Thanks both for responding and helping. Steve

I'll try that although I'm not sure I should do that for this sensor/program because these are lights used light a set of stairs and I already get a delay of a 1/2 to 1 second because I'm controlling these lights with programs...I may have to re-think my design of these programs. What about all the error codes? Could that be causing issues? Steve

A few days ago about 1/2 of my motion sensor (2420 sensors) programs stopped working. One of these sensors run the program below. After some research I determined that the motion sensors seem to work and makes the program's if statement true. The log file even shows that the device is on (255 code). But the lamps are not on. For the program below I found out that the first "set scene" statement does not turn on the lights but the remaining set scenes turn them on/off as programmed. The motion sensors' settings are: Timeout = 0.5 sections; LED = 0; Darkness = 128; Sensing mode = checked; On only mode = unchecked; Night mode = Checked. Is there an obvious problem I'm not seeing? I also found a lot of messages in the error log. I put the repeating statements below the code example. There were about 1,500 of these statements in the error log from midnight to Noon today. Could these be the issue and if so, why are they being produced? Michel - I have never been able to see my personal weather station in the weather module which I registered on PWS - Station http://www.pwsweather.com/obs/KWIBLACK2.html. Why wouldn't it show in the weather module list? Some of it may be because of my ignorance on what I have to do. Is registering on PWS the only thing I have to do for the weather module to pick up my personal weather station? Thanks, Steve

I didn't add that certificate. It was put there when I went into the dashboard. When I got the error I closed the error message, closed the "loading" message box (since it wouldn't close itself), and then closed the dashboard. I did nothing to create a cert...never got that far. Thanks, Steve
-
Michel - 1. I did what you asked but got the same error. 2. I repeated what you asked but also cleared the Java and browser cache and rebooted my PC. Got the same error. The error looks like this: http://screencast.com/t/MusJXkOG. The cert after I did #2 above looked like this: http://screencast.com/t/m1IwJ8nNWj (I blocked some things in case they were important.) Note that the dashboard took me right to the logon. I never asked me to accept the Universal Devices cert. I just got the error. What do I do now? Thanks, Steve

I'm trying to create a self signed certificate for remote access to my ISY994. I am using the instruction found in the ISY994 Series – Network Security Configuration Guide. It tells me to go to link http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/ve ... board.jnlp. I get the Java messages at the end of this note followed by an "Uknown error" when the Dashboard is retrieving UI components. In a past try at this I previously closed the error window and then closed the retrieving window (which stayed inactive). I then created a cert but that doesn't seem to work. For example I cannot get remotely to ISY via MobiLinc. What do I need to do? Fixed!!! ??? Just for fun I tried to see if I could just get into the ISY without the "/admin" ("http://" instead of "http:///admin") and then go to the admin console. That worked! Then I got out and went directly to the admin console using "http:///admin"). That worked too! Then I cleared the Java and browser cache again and went directly to the admin console using "http:///admin"). It still worked! So hopefully this fixed the issue. Any thoughts about what might have been happening? Thanks, Steve

I tried this on another Windows 8 PC which has never run ISY nor the ISY admin console. Per the remote access... I don't know how I'd change the user id/password before as I cannot get into the ISY. If you still need that, please advise. In case this helps, I captured the Java trace/log and pasted it below. Thanks, Steve NOTE: 1. IP address changed to “â€. 2. Hi - I found and deleted udi_frame.state. In fact I searched the whole boot drive to make sure it was not found in my system. The problem still happens. I also searched my MacBook pro for the file but could not find it. So I was unable to try this on my Apple laptop. Anything else to try? Steve
-
The admin console will display and let me enter the user id and password. However the window immediately closes. This happens with Firefox (19 I believe) and Java 1.7. The same problem is on Windows 8 and my MacBook Pro with the latest Apple OK. How can I fix it? Thanks, Steve
-
1. What's your ISY's firmware version? Insteon_UD99 v3.3.4 (2012-11-09-15:31:32) 2. Have you recently changed routers? No 3. Do you have DirecTV? Yes I have forwarded my error log to support@Universal-devices.com? Just so you know the ISY locked again today (1/18) although only the power light was on and my motion sensors would not work until I unplugged the ISY and PLM for a minute and plugged them back in. Thanks, Steve

My ISY99i "froze" while I was at work. When I got home the power, Rx, and Tx lights were steadily on. I could not get into the ISY admin or access it in any way. I unplugged the ISY for 10-15 seconds but it came back up the same (lights steadily on). I unplugged it for 30-45 seconds with the same result. Then I unplugged it for 3-5 minutes. That "fixed" the problem and after 2 minutes of startup the unit started working again. What is the problem? Thanks, Steve

Lee - Thanks...Have have two follow up questions... First... I appreciate the answer. Was this explained clearly (like you did) in the Wiki but I didn't find it? If not, where would this information reside. Second... If the links in the devices are inactive, can you explain why the Switchlinc in Diagram #1 (the Hall Kitchen) turns on when the Switchlinc in Diagram #2 (the Bedroom Mstr Closet) is turned off? This happens when the Bedroom Mstr Closet is turned on manually, with a motion sensor, and from the ISY Administration console. I did a "Find/Replace" in my programs and found nothing that would cause this to happen. Also the Hall Kitchen Switchlinc is not in a common scene with the Bedroom Mstr Closet. Do you know what would cause this behavior? Thanks, Steve

Hi - I have several devices that have bad or unwanted links. One device has an unwanted link to another device. Several devices have links to an old PLM that went bad. (The PLM was replaced.) The queries and the compare to the ISY are in the diagrams below. How do I remove these undesired links? Please note there is an additional question in the 3rd diagram below. Thanks, Steve This fist diagram is for a Switchlinc that has an unwanted link to another device. The compare shows a mismatch. This second diagram below is for a different Switchlink that I believe has an unwanted link to a bad PLM that I replaced. This third diagram is strange. I re-ran the compare for the same devices as that in the second diagram. I got a record mismatch but is pointing to 12.00.CE. This seems to be the bad PLM but with the middle set of numbers as "00". What's happening with this?

I still cannot add the EZX10RF to the ISY. Before I saw your reply lee, I found another link that suggested putting the EZX10RF and PLM on the same plug. I did that by putting them on the same extension cord. That didn't help. I noticed that during the attempt to add the EZX10RF, ISY said it couldn't support i2 and was reverting to i1. Then I tried to use idea of using Link Management | Add X10 Device to EZX10RF. That also does not work. I get the attached messages in the dialog boxes. Guess I'm going to have to wait for 3.3.4... Hi...I'm back. After deleting the EZX10RF from My Lighting I tried to add the EZX10RF back using the "New INSTEON/A10/X10 Device" under "Link Management". I get the error below. What am I doing wrong? Steve

Thanks Lee. I forgot about using the X10 nodes in scenes. I've been in the habit of using them in programs. I worked with support to solve an issue I had with a steady power/Rx light situation. I replaced the old 2413 PLM with a new 2413 PLM but still had the steady lights. When I tried to restore, I would eventually revert back to the steady power/Rx lights even with the new PLM. I would also get Java timeout errors then. During the remote session with support the same situation occurred several times but eventually support got the PLM restored. After graciously working for quite a while on it and working with me to restore a couple motion sensor and remote, I told them I could finish the remainder of the remote devices myself. However I had forgotten that we had not restored and/or written records to the EZX10RF. I tried it myself a few times without success. During that time I did a factory reset on the device thinking I could just restore it from backups. That's what prompted this thread. During the session with UD support I asked what the problem with the ISY was but they didn't know. However I know they forwarded the level 3 event information up the chain at UD. The support person and I both hoped we will get an answer about why the steady Power/Rx light situation happened multiple times. I think the support person suspected that there was a lot of traffic from my Venstar T1800 furnace control Insteon device but he wasn't sure. This is probably more than you wanted to know...sorry. Back to the EZX10RF --- I'll remove the EZX10RF from the ISY and re-add it and re-add the X10 device links. Thanks for reminding me about the benefits of using the EZX10RF. I'd like to retire the X10 devices and wish I could afford more of the Insteon remotes... Thanks for your help. Steve

I updated the EZX10RF using the utility (attached image). The Links table for the Device and for the ISY were both blank and when I do a compare, nothing displays in either link dialog box. I gather that I will need to manually re-link all devices...correct? This leads me to a question about the usefulness of the EZX10RF... What does it do other than give the X10 devices an alias (an English name)? If I cannot restore from the backups using the X10 codes via programs seems to require less work if I have to restore again in the future. Can you help with this question? Thanks, Steve

Lee - Can I use the Simplehomenet Untilty Suite v2.02a to restore my links to X10 motion sensors and remotes rather than re-linking them manually via my ISY99i?
