  1. Pennies. Literally less than a nickel. And the devices start at very low price point.
  2. Yes, we switched y UDP from CoAP. All of our APIs are now RPC based, with JSON payload and all functions available for all transports. The difference now is do you need a transport that announces or one you poll or a mix (MQTT)
  3. The second Gen Shelly products (Plus or Pro) can support MQTT and Cloud at the same time, though you still need the consumer app to enable Cloud. I'm not a fan of Coud dependencies. If your ISP has an outage, the remote server goes down, or enough nodes in between drop, then you better have local control as a backup. I prefer local first, possibly supplemented by Cloud services. If it is important to you to have it, though, it's hard to beat Shelly's implementation - opt-in, anonymous, GDPR compliant, and free (infrastructure costs for the device's lifespan factored into the hardware price).
  4. That's just the start. In the next 4 to 6 months, we're releasing features in all Plus and Pro products that you won't believe. Example, the ability to do mesh Wi-Fi nodes of Shelly products... you can already use the built in scripting to automatically provision the devices, pull data from Shelly sensors and e ergy meters, and more. We're very unhappy about the delays, but we're going to make sure everyone loves what they've waited for.
  5. I understand, Github is a scary place to click links to. The average home owner isn't installing 70+ devices. They're installing 3-4 and a consumer grade app on their smart phone is suitable. You're describing power users and having an open source python script for mass provisioning is reasonably within the power user's means. Regardless, I'm not here to convince you, was just explaining that the options aren't as limited as you believe. Take care.
  6. Our B2B customer use automation to provision the devices. For example, this script is being used by a grocery store chain to provision nearly 5,000 Shelly devices for their stores. https://github.com/ALLTERCO/Utilities/tree/master/provisioning-tool 100 devices is trivial by comparison.
  7. Shelly Plug US was discontinued in August 2021 due to some significant manufacturing issues we had with a prior partner factory. We completely redesigned the plug. enhanced safety features, 30% stronger Wi-Fi radios (two instead of one), Bluetooth, improved accuracy for power measurement, as well as upgrading the MCU, doubling the flash, and giving it all of the "Plus" product features. It is now equivalent to Shelly Plus 1PM but in a plug form factor. Some of the more interesting features are support for TLS 1.2, a built-in microJS editor, and RPC based APIs (which are also added to the scripting editor). We've had a lot of supply chain issues and had to make a final hardware redesign for our NRTL certification (Intertek), but the product should be in stock within 6 to 8 weeks. All back orders should be filled promptly at that time. Regarding social media and forums - there is a great deal of participation by management on Facebook, however, that is a community support group. The forum support is connected to our tech support department, but provided by one of our distributors.
