  1. Thanks for the input that I received here, it helped me to understand how to solve my problem. Unfortunately UD does not have a workable solution presently because the only Insteon PLM available for under $500 is USB based. I spent the last two days researching my options and decided to go with a competitor for the three homes that I manage. You can either go dedicated computer with their software or a hub. No cloud needed after initial setup. The Insteon plug in will even use the bricked insteon hub as the plm or you can use the usb insteon plm. It can do dimmers, thermostats and cameras along with many other brands of devices. Thanks again for the initial direction, its a shame that I could not solve the problem here. Hopefully this solution will be robust and a good experience. I am sure that the UD equipment is solid, just not what us orphaned Insteon refugees need right now. George
  2. It would seem that another opportunity would be to resume the server functions so that all installs would become whole. The viability of this would depend on the size of the installed base, the willingness to pay a fee, and the difficulty of getting cooperation from the ghosts of Insteon to be able to transition the code and database. It doesn't need any semiconductors or product development and server space is a commodity but it would require support from a company that just imploded. Judging from the way that was handled, a cooperative Insteon brain trust may be wishful thinking. George
  3. Can you explain this in more detail please? What specific components are involved? Thanks, George
  4. OK. In the meantime I need to scour my inventory to see if I have a serial PLM that might work with an older ISY controller so that I can rehabilitate at least one of the houses that I manage.
  5. OK I understand now.
  6. Can you please explain this architecturally. George
  7. OK thank you. What insteon devices can be controlled with a 2448A7/Polisy? I have switches, dimmers, cameras and thermostats. Any idea when Polisy will be available for purchase? Thanks, George
  8. If the installed Insteon base is large enough this is an opportunity for reputation enhancement if managed properly. George
  9. How long before Polisy is available for purchase? George
  10. Yes I read this and ordered some PLM's and see that the Polisy is unavailable but I don't understand it architecturally. Does The plm interface with the hub or the individual devices? How is the PLM or UD device programmed and does it require an always on local host computer or once programmed its self contained with an ethernet port or wifi to get on the interweb for cloud control? Im new here and have never used UD. Thanks, George
  11. I am absolutely trying to literally link Insteon to UD. Reputationally, Im just looking for a solution.I just hope that the installed base is large enough for someone to offer a turnkey replacement. How Insteon handled this is imaterial, I just need a solution to get my installs to work. BTW, serial plms are going for $600 on ebay. George
  12. I manage three homes with insteon/hub/servers/iphone app. Can someone please explain the architecture of UD/PLM/... Is the 2245 hub still involved or am I creating the ability to interface with the insteon devices directly to obtain local wireless control and then possible cloud control outside my LAN? Thanks, George
  13. I have no idea how large the installed insteon base is but every insteon home using the traditional insteon server and smart phone just went dead. Do we think that nothing will backfill that void so that my systems (three houses) can resume operating as installed? I am trying to figure out what my next play is here, do I really need to create a new control option that’s needs used/eBay insteon plm’s which will now move to unobtainium status? Thanks, George
  14. So no other device can control or monitor my installed insteon switches and thermostats? George
  15. What PLM’s can control my system? George
