I have tried searching for this topic, but as you can imagine, when you search for ISY lights or ISY LEDs, it doesn't want to tell you about the front panel. Our ISY 994iZW is in our bedroom because that's where the network router is. The blue LED on the front panel is amazingly bright when there are no other lights on in the room. I'd love to be able to disable the front panel lights, but can't find any information on how to do so. Has anyone else done this?

No repeats or waits. LeeG - your talking just a little bit over my head. I removed the changes for the lights so all it should do now is disable "Boys Motion Sensor". I confirmed that it is currently enabled (see screenshot). I did a new event log and here is what I got. (Worth mentioning that when I r-click the first program and choose "Run Then" it works as expected. I only get these weird ignores when I push the button on the remotelinc. I have a program that is basically set up so that any time you push a button on the RemoteLinc 2, it runs (if status is not 17%). Works great if all I'm doing is using the program to trigger another program. But I am trying to set up the following using the same condition: Turn off light #1 Turn off light #2 Disable other program When I hit the button, both lights turn off, but the program does not disable. I moving the disable command first and have the lights turn off after and here is the event log (level 3). 26.33.0D is the RemoteLinc2. 15.BE.D0 is light #1 and 20.21.3A is light #2. Any thoughts on why the disable command is being ignored?! That nailed! Thanks!! PJ

OK, I know this is probably a simple issue, but my searches haven't turned up anything and my brain is not firing on all cylinders after the 5 hour ISP install today (lots of new wiring, so I'm pretty appreciative of AT&T for the free 8 port switch and running of all the new ethernet). Anyway, old subnet was 192.168.0.* and I had the ISY set to a static IP. New subnet is 192.168.1.* and I can't access the ISY through a browser anymore. How do I log in and change the static IP to match the new subnet? Thanks! PJ

There seem to be some conversations regarding sending signals from the XBMC to the ISY to initiate certain scenes based on what activity is occurring on the XBMC. I wanted to take the opposite approach and use my ISY to control my XBMC. More specifically, I wanted to use my universal remote (Logitech Harmony) to control the XBMC just like it does everything else. Since the ISY already had an IR receiver, I saw no reason to install one on the XBMC (using the Raspberry Pi with RaspBMC). It took a good bit of trial and error, but I finally got there using TCP to send messages to the XBMC. Obviously, you'll need the Networking Module to pull this off. I have exported all of the XBMC commands that I am using (and a few that I am not). This should get most everyone on the road to success. http://www.mayodev.com/Docs/XBMC(JSON)_NetworkResources.zip Save this file (do not open the zip file) Go to Configuration > Networking > Network Resources Click the Import button at the bottom Select the downloaded file and click Open All of the network commands are now in the ISY. All you have to do now is create a program for each command. Mine look like this. If IR 'IR_024' is Pressed Then Resource 'XBMC.SmallStepBack' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') IR_024 represents a button on my universal remote. If you are unfamiliar with IR codes and remotes, check the IR forum which has some good info on various remotes. The main goal is to get your remote to send a particular IR code when pressed. The ISY receives that code and executes a program. That program sends the network command to the XBMC which executes the requested command. There is a slight delay, but it is acceptable. Way better than using a mouse or having to have a separate remote. I'll probably update the file above with more commands as I learn more about what commands I use the most/least. Feel free to ask questions. I'm still learning, but would love to help others cut down on the trial/error time!

Lots of options here and you probably won't even have to use variables. The motion sensor is the best bet as your kids could run around for a while without turning any lights on. Motion sensors work well in the dark as well as the light. Here is the code for the program that will send an email on motion. Real straight forward. If Status 'Motion Sensor-Sensor' is On Then Send Notification to 'My Email' content 'Motion at Home' Disable Program 'Home Entry Email' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') *** The disable program line prevents it from running multiple times per day. Then you will have a separate program to re-enable it the next day at noon. If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Time is 12:00:00PM Then Enable Program 'Home Entry Email' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') *** - This re-enables the program, on weekdays only. Under Configurations, you will need to set up your email address and the email message separately. Configurations tab > Emails/Notifications tab > Settings/Groups tab Add Give it a name and put your email address under recipients (or multiple recipients) Click OK Click Save at the bottom of the screen (this is an easy step to forget) Configurations tab > Customization tab Add Give it a name and then you build the customized content Subject is (obviously) the subject of the email I would use something like "The kids are home at ${sys.time}" (this adds the current system time. if you know what time everyone left in the morning, this will help you know how long the house has been empty) Body is where you'll put the message and all the variables that will provide more information I would use something like the following. ${sys.program.#.name} ran at ${sys.time}. Your kids are home. ${alert.details} Click OK Click Save (again, easy to forget) If you really want to know how long it has been since the last motion in the house, here is an option. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then $EmptyMinutes += 1 Wait 1 minute Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') *** - This program should stay disabled since there is no condition If Status 'Motion Sensor-Sensor' is On Then Stop program 'Empty House Counter' $EmptyMinutes = 0 Run Program 'Empty House Counter' (Then Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') *** - This will basically reset the counter to zero and restart it. Then you would go back to your timer program where you enable the motion email and disable this program (preventing the counter from resetting before the email is sent). After the email is sent, you would add a line to re-enable this program. Hope this helps! The ISY takes a little getting used to, but can do some pretty cool things once you get it figured out.

I was thinking about getting one either way as well, but it'd be sweet if they played nice together. I chatted with a guy at Smarthome after I posted here and he said he was "pretty sure" it would not work with an ISY but he wasn't positive. Let me know once you get how you like it. And thanks for the quick response!

Hey all - Smarthome is advertising this bad boy for free shipping this week. I'm thinking about getting it because we've wanted to have a camera in the home for a while. It mentions Insteon compatibility. I'm wondering if it will work with my ISY99 and if it can act as a controller. i.e. motion sensed, program fires. It seems to have motion capability because it talks about sending you a photo of the motion it senses. I'm just wondering that can be used to trigger a program on the ISY. That would be awesome! Thank in advance for sharing your knowledge! Link: http://www.smarthome.com/75790/Smarthom ... ion/p.aspx

Thanks Lee! That is not an option I was familiar with. I've got it set up and it looks like it is working. I love the quick and knowledgeable responses on these forums!

The light in our master bathroom is on a ToggleLinc Dimmer (2466DW). During the day, I want the On Level to be 65%. At night, I'd like the On Level to be 35%. Is there a way to programatically change the On Level on a particular device? I would probably use sunrise and sunset as conditions and just change the On Level. I just couldn't find an option for it. Thanks!

I love all the quick responses. All is working well now. The ISY and PLM are back in the family room and the access point is in the office near the TriggerLinc. Good News) It worked perfectly this morning. Bad News) It worked perfectly 4 TIMES this morning! LOL My son got up 4 times before my alarm went off. It's great that we now know for sure when he's opened his door. Just a matter of training him to stay in the room til we come and get him. I have to wonder what he thinks though, when I come around the corner every time he opens the door. "Aw man! How does he do that!?" Thank you ISY and SmartHome!!

It's already mounted horizontally with the double-sided tape so it's pretty permanent. I got the access point today, so I'm trying to get it installed. I tried the instructions that came with the AP but the light on the AP never flash even when the TriggerLinc is in linking mode. Is there a trick to installing a single AP?
-
Great info Lee. Thanks for the quick response. I didn't really think about the PLM to ISY connection being serial and not really network. This also gives me some assurance that when the access point arrives, it will solve the problem.
