  1. Thanks Michael Will send out the email
  2. I know this is a SmartHome problem but I have not reached them yet, so I wanted to see if anyone could comment. I decided to switch to the new dual band PLM that does not provide power to the ISY. I ordered (2, one for backup) of the so called universal power supply from them, but it does not fit my ISY99. The tip is too large. I recall when I switched from a 27 to a 99 I thought I could use the power supply from the 27 for the 99 so I could plug into a ups but it was the same size as the replacement and did not fit. Are there versions of the ISY99 with different sizes of power connection? Where can I find a power supply for the ISY99 that will allow me to use the dual-band PLM? Sorry for coming across as 'crisp'; just a little frustrated because I thought I had everything I needed. Thanks

    On Level?

Feeling kind of dumb here I have a scene that includes a number of lights (several lights in the kitchen) One of the lights is the overhead and I would like it to come @ less than full brightness Load for the light is a Keypad switch; A switchlink dimmer is the controller of the scene (not connected to load) On the dropdown list, I have a limited number of devices to choose from (don't know why) but the Switchlink dimmer that is controller for the scene is in the list. So I chose that for scene (even thought it isn't one); now I need to choose the device I tried the KeypadSwitch which is the 'load' for the light of interest, no go, it comes on full bright. I tried the switchlink, also doesn't work; but since the switchlink controls several lights in the scene, I don't know how that would work since I want only the overhead light to come on at the lower level. I hope this isn't too rambly, I am baffled. Also, in the example programs the actual address is shown; how do you get that to happen? Thanks for your patience

    having a bad day

Michael Put the new PLM in and problem solved; what was kind of interesting, the system had starting working a little, some devices were communicating but most were not; anyway, thanks for the input; all things are go now; turns out the PLM was less than 2 yrs old so I am going to get it replaced and use it as a backup reminds me again debugging requires an open mind; when I had the new devices installed and the system stopped working it was kind of hard to blame an existing part of the system. thanks again

    having a bad day

Thanks Mike; I disconnected bot the PLM and the ISY several times; at first, ISY showed no connectivity to PLM but now it does but the symptoms remain, no device in the house can be seen by the ISY even after immedate linking via ISY that does work (except communication never happens) I am suspecting the PLM; one thing I noted- the standard links throughout the system seem to be working so it might not be noise caused by an errant device; the electrician was here on 2 days, first installed some switches==> things were ok, came back 2 days later and installed 3 outlet links and that's when the trouble began. Looked at manual, don't see how to 'air gap' outlet links. I did go ahead and order a new PLM for overnight, needed an excuse to get a new one anyway Just suspicious this won't solve this problem..... sometimes things fail in the middle of changes but gotta question it. Thanks at least I'm nice and calm after a night's sleep; this it no biggie, for sure a solution is available just need to find it lol. So thanks for your help, if any other thoughts come along, be sure and let me know.

    having a bad day

OK, I won't flare, I promise but here is a little more: I was able to link one of the new outlet links but immediatly, communication failed; reset an older (v.28) and the same thing happened - can link but after a system busy it can't communicate so, after many many months of a smootly running system nothing works: the ISY communicates with the PLM but I can communicate with none of the devices, tried several disconnect reconnect: get minutes of system busy during which every device comes back 'can't communicate' I'm not flaring, just unplugged everything and do without until some bright idea comes up thanks

    having a bad day

OK, things have really taken a turn for the worse; I was able to set up remote access to the sysem: still have certificate problems but lets skip that till later I was at 6;.13, system started being erratic and suddenly all communication between ISY and PLM (26 and older PLM) was lost; upgraded to 6.14 but no change. Initially, there was no communication between ISY and PLM but after 2 disconnects, I now see the PLM: 5.EA.30v4A One major thing has happened: the electician was in and installed some new devices: 3 wall outlets, and new switchlink and a new KPL; they were purchased a while ago but he just got around to putting them in. Is there something going on with the is1 is2 business? No devices are recognized by the system. I haven't been there to attempt to link any of the new devices. Any thoughts about what is going on? Many thanks

    Certificates

sorry for the dumb question; I am away from my system until the weekend but am trying once and for all to get internet access working again I have dyndns set up and working I have never successfully gotten a certificate; my memory is it asks for an IP address, but that's dynamic. What do you put there? Sorry for being so dense
  10. I know this is the ISY forum, but I couldn't help making an alternate suggestion that isn't associated with ISY or Insteon. We have a hot water circulation system that is controlled by an Insteon relay and run by the ISY to get things going in the morning just before I get up. It is also in a scene with the main kitchen light to turn it on whenever work is going on in the kitchen, also have a spot on a KPL in the kitchen just to control and signify the status of the circulator besides. My point? Instead of running the circulator every 10 min. I also have a thermostat in series with the circulator that is clamped to the return hot water pipe, so the circulator pump only runs if both the Insteon relay is on AND the temp of the return water is below the set point. That way i'm not dumping cool water into the hw heater every hour even when I am not needing hot water access. Sorry for butting in, but I am pleased with the setup and def. with the ISY.
  11. I'm not an expert here but here is what will work if you want the lights to go on at sunset then off after 30 minues If time is sunset then Set 'whatever you want' on wait 30 minutes Set 'whatever you want' off else this should work if I understand what you are trying to do
  12. Chris Many thanks; I had spotted 'status' and started using that, but you suggestions are very helpful. Could I clarify one thing: If a program is 'run' from another, then the 'then' is run, ignoring the 'if' statement that may be present in the called program. Is that correct? That is what I am assuming is behavior based on experiments so far. Am I correct in the above statement? I am really enjoying working with this new approach to triggers/schedules. It is providing great flexibility. Many thanks for all of your hard work
  13. Everything I set up that is simple is working fine but I'm having trouble with conditionals. The challenge, I want to turn something on at a regular time but on the weekend, a later time. That part is easy. But, let's say I take Monday off and want the weekend times to run. I tried a control program: If Control 'ControlLinc2' is switched On And Control 'ControlLinc2' is not switched Off Or On Sat From 5:00:00AM To 6:00:00PM (next day) Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') When I use a reference to this in a program: If Program 'DayOff' is True And Time is 6:30:00AM Then Set 'HW Circulator' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') The program always runs; it sees program "DayOff" as always true. The other program, for Weekdays (and non days off) required "DayOff" to be false, it doesn't run. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help. This new versions will work great, but folks will see a learning curve.
