    I think my problem was that it was not being found on the circuit into which it was plugged, as I have been able to link to it on another one. Sorry for the false alarm (no pun intended).

    I tried got one of these, tried linking to it, and got the following message: "The following device could not be added: 23.4E.1E INSTEON Smoke Sensor v.00 - Cannot determine Insteon Engine"
