The attached screen shot is from the ISY994i product description. I have used Mobilinc Connect to remotely access my ISY devices but this product description says I can do it natively with the ISY itself I believe. Can someone point me to instructions on how to do that?

I have been an iSY994i user for sometime now. It works great. I have also been a Mobilinc app user which works well too. I had subscribed to the Mobilinc Connect portal which gave me remote access to my home automation gear when I was away from home. Then I added an Amazon Echo last January. At the time, I don't think Mobilinc fully supported Alexa (although now it does). So I subscribed to the ISY Portal and deactivated Mobilinc Connect portal. My subscription just came up again for Mobilinc Connect and now I'm confused about what I really need. My questions are: I can't use both portals together as I understand it. I have to choose either the ISY portal or Mobilinc Connect portal. Correct? If I want to be able to connect to my home automation while away from home, what are my options from my ipad/iphone? Thanks for any help/pointers.

Michel, when I did this process at home on my wifi, it behaved as I described. Just for grins today, I decided to try the setup process when I was away from home. That seems to have worked. It didn't tell my it found an ISY and ask for a username and password like it did at home. I was able to see my home devices. Not sure why this is happening but I at least seem to have it working for now.

I just did it all over again and let the Local http:// blank. When I press Done, it says it find an ISY at IP address blah blah on my LAN and asks for my username and password. It wants the Admin Console username and password. When I enter that, it syncs and looks fine. But when I check the ISY settings again, the Local http:// is filled in again.
-
Local was blank when I set it up. It filled in on its own. Yes, the port was set to 443.

Michel, I have attached a screenshot from my iphone although its hard to read. But when I did it from scratch, I entered my email address and ISY portal password in the User Name and Password field as directed. When I finished and said Done, a dialog box pops up saying it found the ISY and asks for a username and password. I tried the ISY portal info but it didn't like that so I used my Admin console username and password and it accepted that. That is why the User Name on the screen shot is my admin name and not my email address. But it will not connect when I'm away from home.

So I set up Mobilinc per these instructions You can use MobiLinc through ISY Portal: http://wiki.universa...c_Configuration and I cannot communicate with my ISY at home when I am away from home. I get a communications error after Mobilinc finally times out. Suggestions?

So I upgraded to the ISY Portal and the dashboard has a window for thermostats. Are Honeywell Total Comfort wifi thermostats compatible or only INSTEON/z-wave?
-
Hmmm, it didn't work twice before but now it does. Thanks
-
Michel, thanks. Will I be able to use Mobilinc remotely away from home too?
-
Should an INSTEON OutletLinc work with the ISY Portal/Echo? Mine does not but all my other devices seem to work fine. I can turn the plug on and off through the admin portal but not with Echo.
-
So I received my Echo and it's installed and working. It is linked to my Honeywell thermostats. Now its time to do the INSTEON integration. I've read a bit and see the ISY portal. But if I go that route, what client on my iPhone would I use to access my INSTEON devices remotely? Today, I use Mobilnc with their subscription service. Isn't the ISY Portal just the communicates vehicle, i.e. it is not a client app?
-
With my Mobilinc subscription, I can control my devices remotely from anywhere. Can I do this with the ISY portal? Will the Mobilinc app use the ISY Portal? If not, what app would I use to remotely control my devices?

I actually just found this http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#ISY_Portal.2FAmazon_Echo.2FIFTTT which is very helpful.

I have been an ISY994i user for some time. I also use Mobilinc on my iPhone and iPad. But I just where my Honeywell RTH9580WF thermostats are controllable via Amazon Echo. That lead me to the INSTEON hub which led me to a thread that said I could integrate my ISY994i with Echo. Whew! What I'm looking for is some clear documentation on the ISY Portal and how to connect it to Echo. And what happens to Mobilinc? Do I simply stop using that? Any pointers to integrating ISY with Echo would be most appreciated. I have several programs and scenes in my ISY that I don't want to abandon. Thanks!!

Oberkc, good idea! That would eliminate the spurious door openings too I would think.

Thanks for the discussion on this. So first, my random triggerings of the door are unexplained. My father would have said, "Probably sun spots." That was his favorite line many years ago when he had issues with his X10 system. I don't know if there is some way to debug why these random events occur or not. If you have any suggestions, please pass them on. The IOlinc on the door just allows me to know when the door goes up or down. I originally thought I'd tie it to a geofence but decided that was more work than it was really worth. The good news on the random events is I get notified and with Mobilinc I can shut it again regardless of where I am. Now, I could eliminate the problem I suppose by just taking the IOLinc out. The program I was thinking of would only be active from probably midnight to 6am just to make sure the door stays shut at night automatically. Maybe I should just take the IOLinc out.

My garage door will randomly open. Doesn't happen often. I get a text alert when my door goes up or down. See the attached screen shot for the code I got here to provide this alert. What I'd like to do is have a program running from say 11pm to 6am that shuts the door if it opens. I think I could use this same style code to do that. But it has been a while since I looked at this and I don't recall why the If test checks for the Garage Door-Sensor being switched On and for it NOT being switched off. This code does work but someone help me understand it a little better? Wouldn't just checking to see if the sensor is switch on be enough? Thanks.

For the 2nd time in about 6 weeks, in the middle of the night, all my INSTEON devices controlled through my ISY994i which were all off at the time, turned on! All of them! Is there any way to debug why this is happening?
-
Well I ended up trying Restore Device and that fixed it. No clue what happened but its working so I don't care.
-
Yes, when I press and hold the button, the lighting devices in the scene show the % the device is on. But when I click it once or double click it, nothing happens. Not sure how to read a link table.
-
Not what I mean. The actual plug INSTEON device is showing up in red italics. Doesn't that mean the plug is a controller too? How is that set? Can it be turned off? Why would it be helpful to have on?
-
I have a scene with 4 plugs assigned to it and 2 different RL2440 buttons. One of the plugs shows up in red italics which i believe means it's a controller. Why? I never set it up this way? See attached screen shot.
-
I have installed the last 2 updates to my ISY994i. Current version is 4.5.1. My RemoteLinc 2440's have worked fine for a long time but now the on/off functions of the buttons don't work. In the Admin Console, if I press any of the 6 buttons, the current state stays blank and the scene it controls does nothing. However, if I press and hold the on button for a scene, the lights all gradually come up to full power. And likewise, I can slowly turn them off by pressing and holding the off button down until all lights go off. What is happening and why are the on/off functions not working properly?

Ok thanks. One last question. Can I have 2 z-wave thermostats in the house running from the one controller? I have 2 zones in my house. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
