hey guys, is there a sticky or documentation somewhere that i can follow to upgrade isy99i to 994i? What are the steps involved and how to copy all the stuff to new isy994 and what other things i would need to do to make the transition seamless..

I had old kpl, and when the lights were on, there used to be dim backlight to show the names/buttons of the pad, and when turned on, button used to get brighter to indicate its on. I changed to 2334 and its totally dark / off if the lights are off. hard to tell in dark if there is a KPL and the switches. was this on purpose? anyway to turn on dim backlight ? is my KPL defective?

hey. i can always run isy/admin and get the controller page. But is there desktop software available? something like mobilinc but for my windows and mac? i dont want to login to isy/admin all the time. something i can just start and get going. like x10s active home system or something like that? any suggestion would be appreciated.

i have big scenes that take about 5 minutes to be processed. DO I NEED to have remote linc in linking mode while making changes. For example, i am make a scene called "ONLY basement light" .. that means all other lights off... so far so good. now if i want to have button A of remotelinc to be controller of that scene, before dropping button A in that scene as controller, do i need to put remotelinc in linking mode? does it need to be in linking mode the entire time? cuz that scene adding button A process takes about 5 minutres and remotelinc goes out of linking more in less than 4 mintues please advise. thanks again.

last one sounds so complicated. but im sure its the right way to do it. i am more looking for plug and play kinda thing

hey guys, quick question. what unit do i need for led accent light strip? I tried lamp module . didnt work. and then i tried appliance module. that seemed to work in the beginning (yesterday). but today seems like the accent light is just "blinking" on and off when the power is off. it lights nicely when power off. pls help

i added remotelinc2. YAY.. I am pretty sure i didnt put remotelinc in linking mode before adding. so weird. and its not only 1 . I added 2 remotelinc. I already assigned scenes to those remote linc. Should i re-do it by putting into linking mode?

no i didnt. how do i put into linking mode? i did the same thing with old remotelinc without putting into linking mode. i had no idea i had to put in linking mode. is this different than old remotelinc?

i updated the firmware again. now i can see remotelinc2 but it cant add to mylighting tree. always fails. it says failed to clear links or something like that. what can i do? please help.

i have Kaspersky, and i also see windows firewall on. i am on windows 7 OS. can you point me to right thread.

michel, thank you. it was nice to hear back from you and have assurance someone will help or there is a solution for it. right now i am about to switch to houselinc or something else. took me about 4 hours to program 3 rooms. doesnt even work right. granted im newbie, but all the more i need more user friendly frontend application.

thanks for reply. well the reason i think its java is just cuz i need to rerun every time. when rerun everything comes up fine. so unlikely there is problem with isy99 itself. Its just that online front end admin java application doesnt reflect the changes i have made till i re run the application. its such a pain in the next. how do i clear java cache. i think i cleared it once but didnt help. but let me know anyways, maybe i am doing something wrong. Is there option of installating local applicaion on computer and running that? is there option of "remember my password" kinda feature so i wont have to enter password over and over again. atleast during this setup period. so far i am pretty disappointed with user interface. coming from x10 active home, i think that beats this isy99 admin big time. dont get me wrong, really happy about insteon reliability tho.

Okay, im newbie and dont want to sound rude but why is interface so HARD for isy99. Even x10 active home system i used to use is nice and easy and user interactive. isy99 is painfully slow. the java applet takes a bit to load up and just really not easy flowing. Another issue is i need to restart the admin console (java applet) everytime i make changes. For example, i remove switch "outdoor light" from a scene called "scene A". I dont see anythign happening in admin java console. But when i re-run admin console java applet, i see that switch "outdoor light" is gone. Its driving me nuts. everytime, i change anything, i need to rerun java admin applet, put in my username, put in my password.. this is normal expected behavior? is there a better software to control admin cosole or does it have to be java applet. I was hoping for some clean easy to use drag and drop interface.

i upgraded to 3.1.15 and cant still see remotelinc2 in the dropdown. when i click to add device, i can put in address but i cant see remotelinc 2 in dropdown. any suggestions? do i need to do anything after firmware upgrade to see list of new things? i dont see anything new in dropdown after i upgraded from last officially supported version 2.x.x .. do i need to clear cache or something? how to? thanks again.

what am i doing wrong guys. im total newbie so please be patient. i have isy99 . installed by some insteon professional guy. he did most the jobs. Now i am just trying to add a scene. I added a scene. and added a button from my 8 button keypad (button H) as a controller. when i run that scene thru my iphone, it works perfectly. and even that button "H" on that 8-button keypad lights up. all good. BUT when i physically press that "H" key in that keypad (which is supposed to be controller). It just blinks 2 times and goes off. Only that keypad button blinks, no chnages to lights in the scene. Any one has any ideas?
