Michel Kohanim responded to my ticket with the following: It has nothing to do with Z-Wave or SD Card. I really think the issue is signal related, things that you should try: Do not put ISY in an enclosure especially if metal Putting ISY vertically helps Make sure all Z-Wave devices have been added and placed in their desired physical location Do right+click Z-Wave | Update Neighbors on all non-battery devices (i.e. devices that never go to sleep) Do right+click Z-Wave | Update Neighbors on any devices that are still having trouble communicating with the ISY Those steps fixed it all. I did indeed have the ISY inside a metal network rack, so I moved it outside of the rack and positioned it vertically as recommended. I ran the Update Neighbors steps then rebooted the ISY. Every device is now communicating with the ISY. I even linked a new device. Universal Devices' support is indeed fantastic!

Done. I'll let you know what they advise.

Very frustrating. Yes, I had cleared the Java cache, but went through all the steps again, including fully powering down the ISY, leaving it off for 30 seconds, and then powering it back up. The lights went through their normal cycle of flashing. Nothing out of the ordinary. For reasons unknown, the launcher found it this time around. Did I do something wrong the first time? Always a possibility. In any case, the ISY went through its steps trying to connect with every device, which failed for every one. I then "updated" the firmware to 5.3.4 even though the launcher showed it was already at 5.3.4. It then rebooted, went through its steps again to connect with every device, which all failed again. I then loaded from a good backup, it rebooted, tried to connect - and they still all failed! So, I'm now basically back to where I started. I'm able consistently get into the ISY admin console, but all the devices show a red exclamation point next to them. This is the Error Log report from my last sign on: Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30-5] 192.168.1.137:50515->5000 Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30]: GET-->/WEB/CE.JAR Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30] Socket error Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30] Closing socket w/failure Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30-5] 192.168.1.137:50516->5000 Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:19 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30]: GET-->/web/chart.jar Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:21 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30] Socket error Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:21 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30] Closing socket w/failure Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:21 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30-5] 192.168.1.137:50517->5000 Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:21 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30]: POST[1]-->/services Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:21 PM System -170001 <s:Envelope><s:Body><u:GetReport xmlns:u="urn:u Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:35 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30-5] 192.168.1.137:50518->5000 Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:35 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30]: POST[1]-->/services Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:35 PM System -170001 <s:Envelope><s:Body><u:GetErrorLog xmlns:u="urn Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:53 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30-5] 192.168.1.137:50519->5000 Wed 2021/12/15 09:07:53 PM System -170001 [HTTP:0-30]: POST[1]-->/services

Just installed the new micro SD card and, per "Replacing SD Card" instructions, have downloaded latest firmware file. Then I launched a "new" ISY launcher, also per the instructions. The launcher opened fine, but it did not find the ISY. Repeated those steps, but with same results. Am I do something wrong? Seemed pretty straight forward, but . . .

Gentlemen ~ You have been extremely helpful. I'm not out of the woods yet, but I'm on the hunt! After cleaning the current SD card and then powering up the ISY, most of the Z-Wave items still are having problems communicating. The error log gives me Error 1 - REQUEST_FAILED_ERROR. My guess is that the SD card needs replacing instead of just a cleaning. Unfortunately I don't have another micro-SD on hand and so will have to purchase a new one. I'll report again once I have the new one installed.

Thanks for your responses. I've been on rev 5.3.0 for both the ISY firmware and UI for quite a while and felt that an upgrade to 5.3.4 probably wouldn't be a help - especially since the issue has suddenly appeared. However, just to make sure, I have now upgraded to 5.3.4. Unfortunately, the problem remains. I did check the error log, but I'm afraid I don't know how to interpret it. Below is what shows up today after updating. Any insight is greatly appreciated. I have a dozen brand new Z-Wave devices (dimmers, switches, outlets, thermostats) that all work great - until they don't! When opening admin console I find that ALL of the devices are unable to communicate. Busy with life, I was unable to address the problem immediately (interestingly, they all continued to operate off the programs I set up). And then they all began working again, with no communications errors! But then it happened all over again. I'm wondering if my Z-Wave daughter-board is failing? It's a 500 series, but a few years old. Any recommendations?

Trouble including Honeywell thermostat
GordonGale replied to GordonGale's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Yes, I was indeed able to successfully connect my Honeywell T6 stat to my ISY 994i at my home. I also have a vacation rental home that has a 3-zone system, requiring 3 stats. I replaced all 3 with the Honeywell T6 and they work great. A small caveat is that at first the connection and communication weren't always successful. At my home I added a Z-Wave outlets (always on) between the stat location and the 994i location that made the connection rock solid. At the vacation home, because I have 3 stats, I added 2 Z-Wave outlets to help the connection. Again, that made for a rock solid connection to all 3 stats. Another great thing about the Honeywell T6 is that it does a much better job controlling the temperature. The Honeywell is fantastic. I hardly give it a though because the house is always comfortable. BTW, the 994i has to have the Z-Wave module added (super simple) and be at revision 5.0.16C (also super simple).- 3 replies

I’m unable to get a new Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave thermostat (TH6320ZW) to connect (include) to my ISY 994i running 5.0.16C with Z-Wave version 6.81.00. I previously had a Trane XR524 that I was able to successfully connect to the ISY, but that stat took way too long to activate the furnace, often waiting until the house was 3 degrees below the set point before activating. The Trane stat lost communication with the ISY, so I was unable to exclude it from the network properly, instead having to simply delete it. Then, because the Trane stat was my only Z-Wave device, I did a factory reset of the Z-Wave dongle. After installing the new stat, I verified that it could control the furnace, so I know it’s wired correctly. I’ve tried 1) initiating Add/Include from the ISY followed by initiating the same from the new Honeywell stat, and 2) initiating the Add/Include from the stat followed by the same from the ISY. Neither way gets them connected. The stat runs through the “including” process” and then displays “Failed to include”. Any advice on how to overcome this issue?

How do I go about posting a ticket to UDI?
-
I've found some other interesting and unexplained things. The 2413S PLM LED shows green when plugged into the wall - sometimes. I have also had it not even come on some of the times, and come on red other times. So I tried it in several other outlets where I could observe it more closely. At this specific moment it's green and I had observed that it was green during my last full cycle of testing. Could it simply be a bad PLM?
-
LeeG: Correct; the RX LED is no longer lit. I do use Avast, so I turned it off and then signed onto the ISY, but still get into Safe Mode. I tried again to get the PLM status, but nothing happens at all. Looking forward to any help you can offer.
-
After reading the question about whether the PLM was powered BEFORE rebooting the ISY, I disconnected the Ethernet cable between the PLM and the ISY, unplugged the PLM and disconnected power to the ISY. I then plugged in the PLM, reconnected the cable to the ISY and then powered up the ISY. Now only the Power light is on the ISY - but it still opens in Safe Mode. When I click on Tools-> Diagnostics-> PLM Info/Status nothing happens. I'm at a total loss on where to go from here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Apparently I'm just having a bad day all around. After some challenges to what I said were in the instructions, I reread it more carefully and sure enough, I was wrong. It says you DO need a power supply with a 2413S. Okay, that issue is resolved. However, I still continue to open in Safe Mode. I have unplugged both Ethernet cables and firmly replugged them in at least 3 different times; I even tried different Ethernet cables. I've power cycled the modem, router and then ISY several times, and I've rebooted my laptop several times. Other than that one time, I've come up in Safe Mode every time. If it helps, after a reboot of the controller, I get a steady blue light on Power and RX. BTW, the one time I was able to get in correctly, I was able to link 3 light switches, but then it immediately said it couldn't communicate with them - even though 2 minutes before it had discovered them.

Thanks for your responses. I've disconnected the 2414S, reconnected the 2413S and plugged in the included power supply. (Why does the Universal Devices Quick Start Guide specifically state that "If your PLM is model number 2413S, you do not need a power supply"?) I disconnected the Ethernet cable at both ends and FIRMLY reinstalled it. Success! I no longer get the Safe Mode message. So, now I'm ready to move to linking. When I click on Start Linking I get a Linking in Progress window, but it stays visible for no more than 3 seconds and then disappears - and I'm unable to perform any linking. Can you give me more helpful advice? Thanks in advance. SO SORRY! Found disconnected cable after this post - all seems to work well now. Thanks again.
