I have a circulator that circulates hot water to our master bedroom with a return line and temperature sensor. That way, we do not have to run the water to get it hot. It runs about 1 minute every hour. I have an Insteon On/Off switch to control the power (for now, call it S1). I’d like to turn off power from 11 pm to 5 am. Simple: I have a program If From 5 AM to 11 PM, Then Set Scene “MBR Hw Circulator Enabled” On Else Set Scene “MBR Hw Circulator Enabled” Off That works fine. The scene has two members: S1 (above) that directly controls the load and R1G – a button on an 8 scene Toggle mini remote. Both S1 and R1G are controller/responders. My intent is to use the remote button to toggle the scene back on if I get up early and need the circulator to run – or at least return to auto mode where the temperature sensor decides if the circulator is needed. The problem is that when the program sets the scene to off, the remote button correctly responds and shows off, but pressing the remote’s button does not toggle the scene back on. It will if I press the button twice. Ideas?

I'll have the GDO in by tomorrow. FilterLinks might take a few days to get here. So, I'll find out if noise is a problem.
-
I don't suppose the power supply that comes with the Insteon 74551 Garage Door Control & Status Kit includes noise filtering. Too much to ask??
-
Thanks all. Decided on Liftmaster 8355W with the MyQ technology. I've never played with Polyglot or Nodeserver. Guess I have some homework to do.
-
Thanks. What brand/model GDO did you use?

I have three older garage door openers (Overhead Door 556/656). Each has an Insteon kit. The insteon I/O Linc's output relay allows me to open/close via two-wire contacts. One opener died and needs to be replaced. But, it seems that all the new door openers use coded keypads, not two-wire push buttons. Does anyone know of a garage door opener that will allow a simple relay (two-wire) contact interface to my Insteon network so I can open/close using MobiLink or the admin panel? I would like to think that there must be one, even with coded remotes, that will allow a two-wire interface.
-
I too would like that. I want to be able to disable some devives when I go away, but enable them just prior to my return home.

Can a 6 button Keypad Dimmer be changed to an 8 button Keypad Dimmer? Or, can ONLY a KeypadLInk (switch, no dimmer) undergo the 6/8 button transformation? I know an 8 button Keypad dimmer is sold. But, if I can convert an existing 6 button dimmer it would be easier. Thanks. Bob S.

That was it. Tried changing to incadescent bulb - still did not link. The nearest Dual Link switch and the nearest SignalLinc RF were too far away. The new switch is in the garage and the nearest RF was about 40 ft way (SignaLinc) through 2x6 wall and metal door. Even with the door open it would not link. So, been meaning to put the driveway lights on Insteon for quite awhile. Changed the two switches in the garage to Dual Band Switchlincs (added to Scene for three way operation). This gave me the RF I needed and the 2-wire switch successfully linked. Thanks all.

I have an LED installed. I will try an incandescence tomorrow. I have PLM and think that RF is in range; But that is something to check also. Thanks. I'll update after I do some testing as suggested.

I installed a 2474 DWH 2 wire Switchlink. It works fine manually. I was unable to link it to my ISY 994i/iR Pro – running v4.3.26. It is switching a hot wire to a light – no neutral in the box. I tried using Link Management/Start Linking and pressing the set button. I also tried manually by using Link Management/New Insteon Device. I added the address and a description. I tried first using Auto Discover and then also tried by selecting the 2474 DWH. Either way I get: “New Device Errors The following device could not be added: 1F.C8.33 Cannot determine Insteon Engine.” Anyone have any ideas? Bob spr1@rpsa-fire.com

2013 03 25 Michel - Thanks for looking at these for me. More testing of the Smoke Bridge and ISY. Here is one set test Events. If I’m reading this correct, the Smoke alarm is Group 1 for the address. And, Clear is Group 5. I just figured out that to know the group number, I have to right click and choose rename to the see the full address and group number. I cannot test CO (yet), Malfunction, Low Bat. or Unknown Message nodes. I have not been able to get notifications for Clear, even though the alarm does clear and does seem to send some communications. I even tried creating programs to notify for Clear On and for Clear Off. Is there something in the Event log that hints at why the event is not triggering the program? Here is the Clear On program: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If Status '23.4E.5B-Smoke / 23.4E.5B-Clear' is On Then Send Notification to 'Default' content 'First Alert Clear On' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 'Default' has my special “Alert†email address and my phone for getting texts – and it works for all other notifications I have set up. Thanks for your help. Bob S.

Thanks. I do have Clear in a program to send me a notification - BUT I just noticed I had the condition set to "Respond" instead of "On". I changed it but can not test until tomorrow - after my wife goes to work I can make all the noise I want. I'll post an update if I get it to work - or not. I would guess that Malfunction is just that. But, it would be nice if the mfg would let you know what "Unknown Message" is. p.s. - Is the incorrect node label - CO2 which should be CO - something that is in the Insteon program or does that come from the smoke bridge? And, who would change it?
-
OK - I upgraded.... First I removed the smoke bridge from the 99i. Backed up. Removed the 99i and installed the 994i. Restored my backup. Upgraded to v 4.0.2. Cleared Java cache, etc. Added the smoke bridge back to isy network. It now links seven nodes: Smoke CO2 (Note – should be CO, not CO2) Clear Low Bat Malfunction Test Unknown Message I created custom notifications for each event when “Onâ€. Tested with the test button. The Test node changes state to “On†and I get my notification. Tested with the canned smoke. The Smoke node changes state to “On†and I get my notification. When I cleared the smoke and the smoke alarm returned to normal, I expected the Clear state to change to “onâ€. Nope. Tried again, but this time I There is no way for me test low bat, malfunction and CO. I have no idea what “Unknown Message†is. Interestingly, I can right click and query each of the nodes and they all show “Off†except the Clear node. It shows nothing. I’m guessing you would like to see a level 3 event log. So, I tested again after clearing the Event Log. Here it is. By the way, there are 4 CO/Smoke alarm units interconnected to each other. I’m hoping it does not matter which gets tested or activated since I used different ones for different tests – to test their interconnection to each other at the same time. I would think that does not matter and that the smoke bridge is simply activated the same regardless of the originating unit. Here it is: After upgrade to ISY 994i/IR Pro and v 4.0.2 First I used the Test button (12:43:32 and :12:43:44) Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 23.4E.5B 00.00.03 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00) Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [std-Group ] 23.4E.5B-->Group=3, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [ 23 4E 5B 3] DON 0 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [ 23 4E 5B 3] ST 255 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 23.4E.5B 11.00.03 CB 06 00 (00) Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:32 PM : [std-Group ] 23.4E.5B-->11.00.03, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:44 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 23.4E.5B 00.00.03 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00) Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:44 PM : [std-Group ] 23.4E.5B-->Group=3, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:44 PM : [ 23 4E 5B 3] DON 0 Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:44 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 23.4E.5B 11.00.03 CB 06 00 (00) Sun 3/24/2013 12:43:44 PM : [std-Group ] 23.4E.5B-->11.00.03, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Next I used canned smoke (12:45:56 and 12:46:07).
