  1. Hey Bryan, Thanks for the update! Kind of not the news I was hoping for as I really don't want to have to replace my echo dots. I guess I will if it's the only route to fixing the issue...but it's not the ideal solution. You'd think it would be something a firmware update could solve. In any case, appreciate the follow up here on the forum!
  2. Hey Bryan, So...do you think there's something actually broken on the devices? I'm just wondering if I have the same issue? I also did the same set of steps you outlined above, but with similar results Thanks!
  3. Hi Bryan, I have the exact same issue. It's strange too because the first room-grouping that I did worked the very first time...but every other new room (and it's associated lights) just don't respond, and I get the exact same voice message from Alexa. I'm hoping someone on this forum has a suggestion or solution
  4. Just Re-tried this functionality as well...working great! Thanks Benoit! I don't know about others, but for me...this new functionality is a game changer. Having Alexa actually speak when things are happening around the house opens up a lot of possibilities. Some things still feel a little rough around the edges, but I'm sure it will get smoother with time and usage. Today I'm going to try and get my garage door and driveway (IO Linc) based devices to register. I've tried already, but so far no joy. Coincidentally, the new Alexa app (just rolled out today 10/8/18) has moved quite a bit around and the discover devices option is no longer a "Discover-All" function, but rather at a catagory/brand level now. Not sure if it's better or worse, or purely cosmetic at this stage. Will continue to experiment!
  5. Are you saying that you had to wait 24 hours for the Amazon servers to register if you change a device's type from the Portal? or from the Alexa app! Totally agree that a step-by-step would be a good idea. I'm thinking of doing the same on my end as it's not completely obvious how this stuff works!
  6. dbuss!!!! You are the man.... All I had to do was enable Live Update and it worked! Didn't have to disable or delete anything! Many many thanks...now I'm excited!
  7. Hey Benoit..great to see someone providing so much help on this stuff! I have gone through all the steps to get these routines setup and even done as you suggested above (verified the alexa app can see motion detected from a motion sensor). I've setup the routine properly as far as I can tell, but Alexa never actually says anything. I've also tried the same thing with an IO linc to no avail. I have an up and running portal account, ISY, and the latest version of the Alexa app running on my phone. And to be clear, I have (for a while now), had Alexa controlling lights and other insteon devices very reliably, so I know that my connection to the devices and Alexa is working. I'm just somehow missing the final piece or something is not set right. I've attached a screenshot of my routine for reference. It seems like it should work, but no matter what I try, she will not actually say anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Hi lilyoyo1....many thanks for the reply! I saw something similar as I began to dig further into the forums. I typed in a very basic version (similar to yours) and tried it out. It works well and does what I had hoped. Thanks for the addition of the "wait 15 min (check random box)" as that will help to randomize when the lights all start to come on! Super helpful and much appreciated! Happy Holidays everyone!
  9. Hey born2dive....thanks for starting this thread! I am looking for the same thing. I've tried programming a little bit, but not really had much luck. For those out there with more experience, I would be grateful for any examples that could help get me started. My particular situation is that our second home stays vacant for months at a time, and I'd like to be able to (as mentioned above), give the house the appearance that someone is there. Ideally, the program would do the following: 1. Have a "Set" a time period in which the random on/off events will occur. Say between the hours of 6pm and 11pm (user definable) 2. Have a variable time period in which the light will stay on. Say a range of between 2 minutes and several hours 3. Have the ability to "Daisy Chain" lights together so they will go off in a sequence. This would give the appearance of someone either entering the house and turning on lights as they move through the space, or conversely at the end of the evening, start shutting down lights as if they were going to bed. There may be more obvious features that I'm missing, but with just those described above I think it would unlock a lot of potential! Thanks in advance for any help or pointers
  10. Hi Guys...I came across this thread yesterday and got pretty excited. I managed to get my Denon AVR-X6300H Tuner working with the methods described here. So now, I'd like to take the next step and add it to my Mobilinc dashboard. But I can think of an obvious way to assign a control to it. It would be great if I could just click on the control and toggle the tuner on and off. Is this possible? I will confess, I've not had the best luck with programming the ISY except for a few very basic things. Any help would be appreciated! Attached is a screenshot from Mobilinc running on my phone. Thanks for making this information available...I'd love to really dive in and extend the capabilities of my system!
