Sorry about the user name Teken Very busy and taking short cuts and not reading every word today, taking your advice about upgrading to v5. What version is the most stable these days? Customers don't want to hear any stories about versions... Again, thanks for you thoughts.. Teken ES1400

Taken, FYI, The transfer from Version 4 to Version 5 without rebooting works as described above. However, I think rebooting is a good idea. Transferring the other way v5 to v4 doesn't work, even with rebooting. Now it's a tossup between rewriting code for a V4 system or upgrading the v4 to V5 system and all that implies. Have a good day

Taken, Let be more clear what I was doing while trying to copy existing code from one ISY to another. On the source ISY I exported a file to my local disk and then logging off that ISY, then connecting to the second ISY and I tried to import the stored exported file from my disk to the second ISY. Appeared to work but failed to produce the folder I exported. I suspect the difference in versions may be the root of the problem. Always glad to hear from you....

Taken You referred to using two computers to perform the transfer, I'm switching back and forth using one computer to generate the exported file and then importing it to the second ISY. should work. right?
-
Taken, Yes I tried the export and import tools and export (folder) and import tools. Export to a file appears to generate the file but I can not import the file in the second ISY. Otherwise none of the tools you talked about worked. Whats why I was asking if the two ISYs need to be on the same revision or version. The last thing I want to do is regenerate all that code, connecting all the variables and such is enough work as it is...

Question on copying ISY folders I'm running two different ISY's and want to copy a sub program folder from one ISY and ADD (insert in to) it to the second ISY program folder. I do not want to restore the second ISY, just add the folder from the first ISY to the second ISY. Is a requirement that both ISYs be the exact revision? Any thoughts on how to??

I have the same issue as described above and don't have ELK enabled. I find these errors are hanging the system several times a day and yes it only last 10 or so seconds each time. I concerned something else is running that is slowing the system or worse. ES1400.

A question about notification reliability I use Notifications for many different reports and the tracking of events. I have notice intermittent missing notices over the last several years that causes me to have concern I might miss an important message. Both Email and TEXT notifications have the same intermittent issue. I try to keep my ISY 994i up to date now on 4.6.1. I ASSUME the intermittent problem is my Email host. (Yahoo.com) I have the Time Out timer set for 10s and tried both 587 and 465 ports at different times over the last year or so. I have WAIT times of 6 to 8 seconds after each notification command thinking the ISY will blow off the notification if you don't wait for it. Keeping in mind the notifications work 99% of the time unless the yahoo mail servers are down. My question is there anything else I should be doing to improve notification reliability? ES1400

I'm looking to use some of my foscan 19821 v2 as motion detectors that can be detected by my ISY (up-to-date V4) system. I have full control of the cams telling them where and what I want detected, recorded and FTPed back to a PC system. my question is "has anyone tried to flag the ISY when a alarm record has started. if so, what UD ISY tools got it to work?" being able to reposition the cam to different positions, changing the alarm detection mask depending on different interest and then flag the ISY while using the same cam location would really be useful. I think there must be a method to detect the cam FTP process or other cam alarm processes via the ISY network (monitoring ? ) , I think Foscam must send a flag indicating recording has begun and when recording has stopped. any thoughts on how to do this? Thanks in advance for any ideas

Thanks for the responce, now one question is now two. I miss spoke about the compatibility above. The question should read what the difference between SmartHome INSTEON 2635-222 and SmartLab INSTEON 2635-232. Both are sold in the US and most likely manufactured in china. I guest the question is more about the dash numbers 222 vers 232.. What's the difference? Please expand the code "NA region" you referred to in your response above. I assume it stands for North America (NA) but just in case please verify. again in advance thanks for any information.

Question Does anyone know the difference between INSTEON 2635-222 and Smarthome INSTEON 2635-232? For difference in price I wounded how compatible these two devices are when use with UD. Or is this just a legal issue? Thanks in advance for any information

I guess you hit on the real issue in the reloading the firmware, I have to ask where to get and download older version of firmware that matches my older backups version if it's not included with the backups, . My experience has been the firmware (operating system) is separate from the application code. By by backing up my ISY system covers my custom application coding, the download from ud covers the new version of operating system. However, where can I download an older versions of the operating system to match one of my older back ups? I realize the need to regress to an older system and application is slim, but knowing how to restore a configuration to a known good point allows me to sleep at night. Having said the above I assume the ISY is in three parts, A bootstrap loader or similar, operating system and then the application we the user develop or am I back in the dark ages again? By the way, thanks for your responses it helps to have someone to work with and learn from their lessons learned. ES1400

I would like to know what is actually is backed up when backing up my 994i pro. I understand my applications are backed up, but what about the system part? My concern is if I update to a new release, run it to unexpected problems can I restore to a previous release and actually get back to the previous application and system configurations exactly. Or will there other let overs from the new update? My fear is getting stuck after a update and not having a quick way back to being operational and forced to debug issues before getting operational. Right now I'm using v4.2.18 and want to keep up UD development but have that fear of SYSTEM updates. ES1400

Today, I'm seeing lost emails from my ISY 994i, v4.2.18. Text messages are running 20 to 30 minutes late. At first I thought just a bad day on the internet. I don't think so now. All my communication where working fine for some months now today it is really bad.... Even the test messages are late or not working...... Is anybody experiencing this ? Es1400
