Yale Pro Zwave Lock reporting error
WetCoastWillie replied to WetCoastWillie's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
@Geddy, @lilyoyo1 thanks, I did the 5.3.4 upgrade but still the same problem... -
HI, I just installed a new Yale Pro Z-Wave lock (YRD136) and am having problems with what it is reporting to ISY. When it is locked from the keypad it reports "manually locked" and not "Keypad Locked" as it should. All other reporting seems to be ok such as "keypad Unlocked by user XX", "RF locked", "RF unlocked" if I manually lock it from the inside it reports "manually locked" as well as when I lock it from the keypad... this is a problem as I have a program that arms the security system if locked from keypad (outside) FW 5.3.0 Any suggestions?

Text message (sms) control of thermostat (and lighting)
WetCoastWillie replied to WetCoastWillie's topic in ISY994
i want it more for the family than me.... I have mobilinc on my iPad but TheBoss and kids have different phones and accounts so purchasing an app for everyone would be expensive.... I ultimately want to make it simple for them..... Text "temp 72" and the thermostat adjusts, text "bedroom off" light turn off.... I have a raspberry Pi, network module, etc. Just want to know if it's possible, and if so, where can I find some instructions? Cheers Matt -
Is it possible to control a zwave thermostat via text.... I want to be able to change the set temp by texting the desired temp, also control lighting etc. by text (living room on), (temp 72), etc. Is there a wiki somewhere?

"Get Topology" "Get All Status" runs continuosly?
WetCoastWillie replied to WetCoastWillie's topic in ISY994
no.... only changes status... ready/not ready to arm... as doors, motion, etc, change state. not consistently and continuously throughout the day like the log is showing -

While troubleshooting another issue I happened to take a look at the log under tools. When I opened it up i was surprised to find that every 30sec or so my Elk is generating a "Get Topology" and "Get All Status". Is this normal? My concern is that it is utilizing system resources unnecessarily and slowing down other processes.

Program turns 1 light full, then dims same light
WetCoastWillie replied to PittCaleb's topic in ISY994
I have a similar situation where I use the off "status" and off "control" to turn the lights on at 20% for the bathroom at night. If the light is off (status) and you turn it off (control), it then runs a program that turn on the light at 20% for 5 min then turns it off. So in the middle of the night when you have to go... just hit the off switch and the light goes on dim for 5 min then turns itself off after i'm back in bed! If Status 'Master Bathroom / Master Bathroom Light' is Off And Control 'Master Bathroom / Master Bathroom Light' is switched Off Then Set 'Master Bathroom / Master Bathroom Light' 25% Run Program 'Night timer' (Then Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Wait 5 minutes Set 'Master Bathroom / Master Bathroom Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') -
Door lock status and control via bedside keypad
WetCoastWillie replied to WetCoastWillie's topic in ISY994
Thanks... I'm still not 100% sure on the usage of the else statement, I have found that it doesn't always do what i "think" it should be doing... so for clarity I separate the commands. I'll give this a try -
I have a 8 button keypad in a bedside switch, when I recently added a Z-Wave door lock I wanted to be able to see the status and control the door lock via a button on the keypad. I was able to accomplish this by the following (I know this will seem simple to some... but for those of us who are just staring out I will share how I accomplished this in hopes to inspire ) First step was create a scene I called "Front Door Lock" and added the keypad (button H) as a controller and added the z-wave lock. Next step was to create 4 programs: Unocked Status If Status 'Front Door Lock' is Unlocked Then Set Scene 'Front Door Lock / Front Door Lock' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Locked Status If Status 'Front Door Lock' is Locked Then Set Scene 'Front Door Lock / Front Door Lock' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') These two control the light on the keypad... Next Door Locked If Control 'Master Bedroom KPD.H' is switched Off Then Set 'Front Door Lock' Lock Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Door Unlocked If Control 'Master Bedroom KPD.H' is switched On Then Set 'Front Door Lock' Unlock Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') These two control the lock... Now, when I go to bed and have forgotten to lock the door I will see button H lit up on the keypad... push the button and the door locks Ps. I thought I read somewhere that cross platform (Insteon/Z-wave) scene control was not supported but that must have been in an earlier version.

I've been using No-Ip with my own domain name for just over 1 year.... no complaints to date IIRC it's $25/yr... (less than 1 coffee/month)

I have the CI-300E Z-wave... It replaced a Honeywell 7 day programable. I have only had it for a few days but I already have my harmony ultimate remote controlling it I did not have an insteon thermostat so I can not compare the two. So far the thermostat is doing everything I had expected and more. Matt

2441TH Thermostat Question - detecting when changed
WetCoastWillie replied to pkopp's topic in ISY994
I don't know if this will give you any ideas... but I've been playing around with my Harmony remote controlling my thermostat. It does involve writing a couple of small programs for each Deg., and a couple of variables, but it gives me the ability to always know what the set point is, when it is changed, and I can have the ISY execute programs based on any changes, or what have you. Take a look and see if it gives you any ideas. http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=13296 Cheers, Matt -
I know the hub can send commands to the ISY... I have my harmony ultimate controlling my lighting (insteon) and thermostat (z-wave), so I assume that it can communicate both ways, although I have not yet had a need to send from the ISY to hub.

Thank You !

Thanks for the input guys! I like the idea of having the LAN monitor for a MAC address connecting... if a phone is here - someone is home, if not..... (kids are never more than 5' from their phones) Can you point me to some reading on how this is configured? Thanks, Matt

Looking for ideas to setback the thermostat when no one is home. I want the ISY to change the heat set point on a ZWave thermostat when the house is unoccupied. Simplest would be to link it with the arm/disarm status of the ELK, but the kids rarely set the alarm when they leave so that is not an option. I have 5 motion detectors throughout the house and was thinking on a program that looks at the last time any motion was violated +45 min... but that would be a program for each motion (5) and a program that is activated if any one is violated... etc. and more to set it back to "occupied" mode Any other easier suggestions, am i missing something obvious? How are you achieving occupancy based heating with your ISY? Thanks, Matt

I think I have this... thanks for the input. What I wanted was... if the LR light was on and someone turned on the nearby Kitchen Island light, it would only go on at half bright, and vice versa. Then, if the "full on" light was tuned off, the "half on" light would return to full bright. It appears as though I have accomplished this with the following 4 programs. Kitchen Level: If Status 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' is not Off Or Status 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' is not Off Then In Scene 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' Set 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' 50% (On Level) Else In Scene 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' Set 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' 100% (On Level) Kitchen Return: If Program 'Kitchen Level' is True And Status 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' is not Off And ( Control 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' is switched Off Or Control 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' is switched Off ) Then Set 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') LR Level: If Status 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' is not Off Then In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 50% (On Level) In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 50% (On Level) Else In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 100% (On Level) In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 100% (On Level) LR Return: If Program 'LR Level' is True And ( Status 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' is not Off Or Status 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' is not Off ) And Control 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' is switched Off Then Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Yes I do understand that the program above only adjusts the scene.... if the kitchen lights are on then set the living room scene to (if turned on) only go on at 50 %, if the kitchen lights are off then set the scene to (if turned on) turn on at 100%, and the first half of what I want is working... If someone turns on the LR switch or hits button "B" when the kitchen light is on - the LR lights only go on to 50 % - if the same is done with the Kitchen lights off the LR goes on at 100%. This is where I'm having the trouble... I cant figure out how to write the program that (a) knows that the LR lights have been turned on at 50% because the kitchen lights where on. ( monitors the kitchen light for someone turning it off. © if LR is still on at 50% (no-one has turned it off) then turn up to 100% when the kitchen light off occurs. Everything I have tried either does not brighten them at all - or will turn them on 100% every time I try to turn them off. Thanks. Matt
-
To be clear...when someone turns off the kitchen lights (regardless of whether the living room lights are on or off or anywhere in between), you want the living room lights to turn on to full, correct? Nope - Sorry... what I meant to say was, If the living room lights have been turned on at 50% because the kitchen lights were on - then, when the kitchen lights are turned off and the living room lights are still on at 50% - turn the living room light up to full bright.

Hi, I'm just getting started.... have read the Wiki's.... tried all I know (not much) but could not find my answer. I have an open concept main floor with the kitchen Island and main living area adjacent each other, I have a single dimmer on the Kitchen Island Lights, and a single dimmer and button "B" on a 8 button keypad for the living area lights. What I am trying to accomplish is... if the kitchen lights are on - and someone turns on the living room lights they only go on to 50 %.... I am using the program below and it seems to work fine. If Status 'Kitchen Island / Kitchen Island Pot Lights' is not Off Then In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 50% (On Level) In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 50% (On Level) Else In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 100% (On Level) In Scene 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light (B)' Set 'Living Room Pot Lights / Living Room Light' 100% (On Level) Here is what I'm having trouble with, when someone turns off the kitchen light (edit) and the living room lights are on at 50% (/edit), I want the living room light to go to full brightness. I have tried several program variations but none do what I want for the "return to full bright". Can someone please help? Thanks in advance. Matt
