rayg started following SD Card problem missing file /conf/nodes/UN0032.bin

Thanks Paul. Turned out to be slightly different solution. When I loaded the SD into a Windows folder the file copied over just fine but was ZERO bytes I did read that the ISY can handle a 32GB SD cards. Are you sure about what you were saying about needing a 16GB max? I had to reset the Location to my timezone as it had reset itself to the default Pacific. Same thing for my custom Admin name and password, it got reset too. I am not sure why this happened with the new SD in place. I assume those override settings must also be stored on the SD card? Anyways, your advice appreciated and marked as the solution but it would be nice to read thoughts in the SD Card size and these seemingly phantom resets of the properties. With a solid backup I am in a better place to upgrade to Eisy now, just have to wait for a sale. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Thank you Paul. I will try this in the next few days and report back. Also, thanks for the heads up on using ISY to format. Q1: Now all I have here are 32GB cards that meet the standard. Will it be able to format those and simply ignore the additional space? Q2: Also when copying missing files to the existing SD to get things going again leading to a successful backup, will the file system or SD Card be smart enough not to reuse bad sectors (sorry for the old disk drive talk)? Thanks again ...Ray

My backup is failing because it cannot read this file /conf/nodes/UN0032.bin. My previous backup is a little old but the zip does contain that file. In order to change my SD Card and eventually migrate to eisy I need a successful backup. Is this the correct forum to ask this Question? Can I: 1- Somehow manually copy that file back onto the existing ISY SD Card? Should I do that with Telnet/FTP OR possibly by accessing the SD on my windows computer and adding the file (it is FAT right)? 2- Can I somehow get the ISY to re-create all the node files and hope the SD card remains usable enough to perform a full backup after? Failing that I will recover the older backup and re-apply what is missing/changed Thanks for your help ...Ray

Thanks Techman. ISY must be 8+ years old now (time flies). SD Card was replaced last year at your suggestion. Funny that the programs are all there and that it was only the Timezone and Admin user ID and password that were clobbered. Could it be the SD contact in the device itself that need cleaning? Is there a method for that? I did get a backup done yesterday. Does the Eisy suffer from this or does it make use of more reliable memory? ...Ray

rayg started following My ISY Lost some of its configuration
-
This started today. 1- I could not log in with my normal credentials, the credentials had been reset to admin/admin 2- The Timezone was reset to Pacific instead of my normal timezone Other than that the system and programs are there (but obviously would not have run at the right times). Q1 Has anyone else experienced this (I tried looking for similar items before raising this)? Q2 Where are these configuration items stored? SD or other location? Is this documented? Q3 Should I mistrust this SD and replace it? Thanks for your help ...Ray

Thanks for that. I knew that I had replaced the old card a while back. Turns out not that long ago April 2023 and it's a Sandisk. I wonder if maybe I should use a Qtip and rubbing alcohol to clean possible corrosion off of the contacts on the SD Card socket side?? Thoughts? Approach? Thanks

Good news Techman. Cleaning and RE, Re-seating SD card contacts led to a much improved startup. I was able to do a full backup and the system is mostly functional again. Thanks all IoX Finder found the ISY's LAN address and I can ping the ISY and get a response from the Browser request as suggested. Still a few things lost. e.g. The Admin credentials had reset to factory settings. I'm not sure what else has been lost but its good enough for the holidays.

Tired that with http and https and I get a not found error, Definitely worth a try thanks Thanks. It feels like the ISY can't fully read all the configuration content from the card on startup due to corruption but its not enough to keep it from starting up. Networking-wise some outgoing commands (to state variable-based external devices) are not making it through the portal. Yet incoming commands from Echo via My.ISY are working.

I have been getting the "not found" dialogues for a while now and have just clicked OK and moved on. But today after a recovery from the Internet being down I re-booted the ISY and got an Error light. I re-seated the memory card and it re-booted fine with some weird exceptions. e.g. The default date time had been reset to another timezone and now finder cannot see it on the LAN (it has a reserved DHCP address). All I can see is the my.isy link which thankfully works and I can manage so long as the internet is running. I can see all programs and can run them fine. I really need local access tho, especially to access via console when the Internet is down. Through the console app, in configuration, I can see that the ISY has the reserved DHCP address. Only the IP is listed. The other fields gateway and DNS are greyed out which I assume is correct when set to DHCP. Should I try without DHCP and loading all that manually? No matter what I do I get the Not found error from the IoX Finder. I cannot manually add the ISY using its LAN address. I have cleared cache and re-downloaded the start.jlnp app from the UD site. It certainly no longer finds the ISY on its own (not sure what discovery method it uses). All I know is that I miss the old finder and things seem extra buggy. If I do backup at this point with the idea of re-loading from factory will that backup no also be invalid? CAN I GET THE OLD VERSION OF start.jlnp somewhere or a proper fix please? Thanks ...Ray

Thanks Bill & Techman am usually pretty good about this but that is too good an explanation to deny that I may have Fffed up some more by not powering down before. SOLVED: Anyway I replaced the card with a pre-formatted one and it took me a while to be able to communicate with the ISY. It took a factory reset in the end (despite what docs say about not being required), to be able to talk to it from my PC and Admin console. Restored the backup but the ISY said at the end of startup there were important files missing. I applied latest firmware which did the trick and then restored the morning's backup again and things came back clean with no errors or messages. This morning I'm in business so I backup up again.

I unplugged the ISY and plugged it back in (without reseating the sd-card) and the ISY booted and worked fine. Later (silly me), I re-seated the sd card after I read that the blinking red light might indicate this was needed. BUT NOW all I get is the blinking red light after plugging it back in Grrrr! So now what does the Red light blinking mean? Could it be the SD Card lost its programming? What next? Thanks ...Ray

I have a program that can be triggered by the pressing of a keypad button OR a few other methods (timer, X10, Alexa command, etc) However, when I activate it from the Keypad I get an unexpected on and then off behaviour. Otherwise it behaves as planned. Now one of the steps in the program is to set the LED for that keypad button on (to ensure the LED is on when other triggers are used. I assume turning the LED on does not trigger another keypad "on" event that triggers the same program again or something to that effect. That program calls 2 other programs as well, each of which turn on the respective Keypad LEDs. Any ideas on what might be going wrong with such a program. Thanks ...Ray

What alternative leak sensors would work with the ISY. I already have 2 insteon ones but need to integrate a few more. Any obvious dos and don'ts would be welcome. Thanks ...Ray

This service stopped working for me early June when Google changed the approach to security for these type of non trusted Apps. Supplying your account password no longer works. Supplying an APP specific password is necessary. BUT to generate one you need two factor auth to be turned on and THEN attempt to generate the APP password. I still could not find the App password button where they said it would be. I SEARCHED FOR APP PASSWORD and it took me to the correct dialogue. I created the 16 character password for ISY under other Apps and pasted that in to the mail config in the admin console. It took a couple of tries but it worked. Then on the receiving side I had to mark the emails as important again. Thanks for starting this thread. Hope this helps.
