  1. I have a program named "phone" that triggers the Apple "find my phone" that gets the quick tone now.
  2. I would be surprised if the choice between the two isn't implemented in the future. Given the amount of noise generated by those that wanted ok back, including me, I suspect reverting was the quickest answer. Amazon has been amazingly responsive to requests in my opinion, which is what caused this in the first place.
  3. Yep, she started saying ok again this evening. Hopefully they will make it an option. Give us the best of both worlds. You have to give them credit for being responsive.
  4. Watch one of the YouTube videos about Alexa. She gets all confused.
  5. Interesting. I didn't get a response to a feedback or feature request. Response to a problem request was a BS form response to call. Some nights Alexa is the only one that talks to me.
  6. A recent article in the NY Time has the names for the director of Amazon’s Echo and Alexa, and,Amazon’s senior vice president for devices. Seriously thinking of writing them. I think not having the option for the voice response is a serious misstep. a big loss to her personality. Turn it off it you want, but it's a loss to the initial wow factor.
  7. Emailed, used the feedback in the Alexa app, sent as a feature request, posted on their forum, tweeted, wonder if you can still send Western Union telegrams?
  8. According to a post on an Amazon forum, this was a deliberate change. Already sent my opinion to support via emai. Damn pinhead engineers.
  9. I hate it when companies make arbitrary changes. Let me decide if I want a change. Also noticed a change in response to home control. When I ask to turn on an outlet I named Christmas. Aka my Chhristmas lights, she insists on playing Christmas music.
  10. There was a discussion of mounting an echo to the ceiling. The Dot would be even better for this. If the current delivery is quoted as May, that must mean they have sold the initial run.
  11. The Dot is like a little sister for Alexa.
  12. Everything worked ok this evening.
  13. I had this happen last night. I will see if it happens again tonight.
  14. I've been watching this market for many years, since x10 came out actually. Waiting for what I thought was the ideal solution. * Local network, able to use the Internet if desired but not required * Multiple user device vendor support * Flexible, programmable, with a published api, able to do what I want not what the vendor dictates. * Vendor participation on a support forum, and responsive to user requests. * If an Internet portal if available, must be subscription based, not free. Free service is not sustainable, and is just a Ponzi scheme in my opinion. (see also Logitech Squeezebox, Chumby, not HA but you get the idea). But it must be an option not a requirement. Every year I have read the announcements, and said that's interesting but not it. Every year I have come back to one answer, yep UD.
  15. With CES starting tomorrow it will be interesting to see what Echo and other HA announcements are made. Ford has already announced a partnership with Amazon Alexa and Echo. I'm surprised they are talking about the Wink hub though. I thought I read Wink was having money trouble, and was expecting to see them disappear. Maybe Ford is the infusion of new cash they needed. I wonder how many new proprietary cloud solutions will be announced.
  16. It seems to have been an intermittent problem for me. I only have 3 lights and a program set up. I don't remember if it was the same light each time.
  17. I've had this happen a couple of times. The command runs though. Just a simple on or off of an outlet. I didn't rediscover or do anything.

  19. Maybe the Connected Home is the better direction for automation. If Amazon added a few verbs in addition to turn on and off if would likely do 99% of what is commonly used. In practice Alexa tell Izzy to turn on.. is a little cumbersome vs Alexa turn on... Having the ISY portal available to those that want to create a skill is tremendous. (Now Alexa just needs to respond to "Clap On" "Clap Off". )
  20. I decided not to wait for the UDI Connected Home part and picked up a Pi last week. First of all a huge thank you to everyone that has contributed to this thread, especially Barry for the configurator. Started on the config yesterday, finally got it working around 2:30 this morning. I'm having entirely too much fun with this. I have an outlet with a string of bubble lights for Christmas. Called the device "Bubble Lights" of course. Alexa has a little trouble with pronouncing bubble. As she says I can't find the boobley lights. Ok you win "Christmas lights" then.
  21. I have not gotten a program to run either. Same result program not found.
  22. Benoit, Fantastic job on this in such a short period of time !
  23. Sorry, the right question was how to run programs. Trying to run program named "Test" Getting "program test not found". (Thought this meant a program table needed to be loaded). Card in app says Alexa heard: "tell izzy to run program test" The program is simply: Then Set 'Mantle' Off
  24. What is the command to load programs? Tried refresh programs, she says 10 devices found
  25. I have a device named mantle. In the card it says Alexa heard: "tell izzy to turn off mantle" but I get the Turn of which device? I have mantle in the spoken field. uuid PM'd if it helps.
