Thanks. That is helpful. Apparently UDI staff don't bother to reply to posts if there's any constructive criticism included.

Seems I missed the momentous event back in October where 5.x finally went mainstream. Finally! Although, it was a kick in the balls to read here that Java was kept as the environment for the Admin Console. Clearly that was a bad idea for more reasons than anybody would have time to discuss on any forum. Besides the fact that Java has been the most problematic run-time environment ever, requiring a desktop fat client rather than webified interface is sooo 1990's. I feel better now....I'll move on. But I'm ready to make the jump. I have about 130 Insteon devices, over 300 programs, a few Z-wave devices, the Elk module, and the Networking Module to trigger events in external systems. I know I need to upgrade my 300 series Z-wave board and have started that process. What's the best way to validate what issues and risks I face upgrading from 4.8.0 to 5.3.0? Is there a clean, full-proof roll-back process that isn't fraught with risk if I decide to go back to 4.8.0? Just having a backup doesn't make roll-backs easy. On this thread it states, "Upgrading to this version may require a lot of manual intervention including verifying scenes, programs and program settings are correct. In some cases it will be easier to rebuild your network." If this in reference to Z-wave only? If so, I'm not worried about that since I have so few Z-wave devices and programs that use them. Thanks!

I have a large Insteon network with ISY v4.6.2 in use for over three years operating mostly without issue. That is until I replaced a failed PLM a few months back. It's the newer PLM v9E (as reported by ISY). First I had some issues with the ISY getting bogged down and locking up. Without reason or any changes, that stopped after a week or so. I never found a cause. But now I'm dealing with an issue where certain devices just turn themselves on. It's just a few devices that are regularly affected but not at the same time.. And I only deal with On events, I have not noticed any Off events. And all the devices are different. A Switchlinc, a FanLinc, Micro On/Off, KPL..... For one specific device, it for sure happpens regularly at 3am when the Query All runs. But that's just for that one device. The others don't necessarily happen then. I have restored the affected devices but that didn't help. Any ideas or suggestions?

I'll try. But notice it says "Sold and Ships from Smarthome". Smarthome site says they don't have it.
-
Their site says not available for shipping to home. Only ship to store, which isn't an option for me. I'm guessing that means they don't have actually have stock and would order from their supplier when I order. I'm also guessing that they can't actually order any. Regardless, not an option for me since there ins't a Menard's here.

Site says no longer in their catalog.

So it looks like Insteon stopped making the Synchrolinc 2423A5. I'm using three of them now and have need for another. Anybody have suggestions for a good replacement option for use where the device plugs in? These devices I need to watch aren't on a dedicated circuit. I do have Zwave on my ISY but have very few devices in my network. Where I need this new sensor, I don't think will reliably access the network.

I'm not currently believing this to be caused by a programming issue. Although, I certainly can't rule it out. I expanded all my folders and don't see any programs firing. Although I have several hundred spread across two-levels of folders so it's not easy to view them. Arg!

This problem continues to plague me. I disabled all programs using a RESTful call to set a variable I have on the root folder. Forgot I had that and although delayed did finally work. After another reboot I was able to open the Admin console and waited for the initial query to complete. Then I enabled all my programs. Nothing happened. Everything seemed to operate fine. After a several hours it was starting to slow down again. Some programs didn't run. Some ran but delayed. The Event Viewer doesn't show any chatty devices or constant activity. Any other suggestions on where to look or how to isolate the root cause?

BTW. In the past week I only created one program to turn on a light when a switch is switched on. Hard to do wrong. And no problems for 24 hours after that. No other programs/network resources were changed. The only other thing I did was increase the font size to max size for the Admin console for a new laptop I got which has a very high resolution.
-
How do I do that if I can't load the admin console?
-
Arg! Catastrophe!! My ISY is unresponsive. I notice some programs weren't executing. Went to my Admin console that's always open on my home server and it was generating socket errors and was unresponsive. Looked at the logging via USB port (which I always have running) and I saw a repeating message about the queue was full. UDQ: Queue(s) Full, message ignored So I rebooted it. It was REALLY slow to reboot fully. I couldn't log in for about 5 min. Even now the console command line is kind of slow. And the Admin console crashed when trying to load after logging in. Thoughts or suggestions on where to start troubleshooting this one? ISY v4.6.2

I restored the PLM. Less painful than I was thinking since it was the same PLM therefore all my Insteon devices didn't actually need to be updated. Just the PLM itself. Seems things are running fine now. My links table is at 766 so should have just a bit more headroom to grow.
-
Sure. But the PLM links table is empty. How would it receive any event? Just an interesting note.... Don't want you to troubleshoot that for me. It's the ONLY device out of 130 that is able to communicate.
-
Yeah... Should've been obvious to check the PLM links table. Thanks. Luckily I've been relatively trouble free for the past 18 mos but means my troubleshooting skills with ISY/Insteon/PLM have eroded. Nothing shows up in the PLM links table with a Start request. Ug. Strange my wireless tstat works though, eh?
