  1. Note if you are discovering devices with voice commands only, Alexa lies sometimes. She finds devices and puts them in your connected home settings http://alexa.amazon.com/#settings/connected-home But she will say " I didn't find any connected home devices."
  2. Michel, 1) I would gladly donate to help support the cost of the certification process with amazon, even if amazon ultimately didn't certify the isy. 2) Use the same command structure as the echo connected home, so if there is final certification there isn't confusion. 3)Feature request: multiple alias device names/or a format in the notes section to follow.
  3. -I didn't make it is clear that I am using HA Bridge method . Really think amazon has special voice matching for the connected home functions to make it more accurate.
  4. Suggestions for getting the Echo to work reliable . I am having no misses at this point. --UPDATE Note using the HA Bridge Method --UPDATE Guessing the connected home is doing some extra matching to make it more accurate. *) Do not use the key word "near" , use "device name close" instead. *) Use at least two words to identify the device. *) Use the the word "light" for ending *) Use the ending " lights " for scene lights *) Use the ending " door" for doors/ locks. *) Use Television instead of TV Example of the names I am using all have been working very well for me. Back House Lights Backroom Light Basement Light Basement Lights Bathroom Lights Christmas Lights Couch Light Dining Light Family Room Fan Family Room Light Family Room Lights Fan Circulation Front Door Front Fans Front House Lights Front Porch Light Front Television Hall Bathroom Fan Hall Light Heating System Kitchen Light Kitchen Lights Kitchen Sink Light Living Room Fan Living Room Lamp Living Room Light Living Room Lights Master Bath Lights Master Bedroom Lights Master Ceiling Fan Master Ceiling Light Master Far Light Master Close Light Thermostat <-Key word I think in Alexa , no problem finding it.
  5. The set command works for all my z-wave and insteon dimmers. Also works for scenes. The only thing i have is the friendly name ends in " Light " or " LIghts" But I just removed the LIght from one of them and it still work. Rest command suffixs z-wave devices cmd/DON/${intensity.percent} insteon dimmers cmd/DON/${intensity.byte} For scenes use the type suffix for the majority of the devices in the scene. (the minority device type won't dim correctly)
  6. Easier dimming command structure, also works for thermostats. "Alexa set the "DEVICE NAME" to 30" "Alexa set the "DEVICE NAME" to 50" You do not need the percent suffix or the dim prefix.
  7. Commands for doors/locks. Use open/shut command prefix. "Alexa open the front door " (un-locks the front door) "Alexa shut the front door " (locks the front door) Might want a fcode word for the front door for security. You wouldn't want an intruder to just yell through a window to open your front door. I have an active GSD security system so I am not too worried about it.
