  1. I have powered ON/OFF & rebooted the Eisy & PLM more times than I can count. For a day plus, nothing I have tried has connected the PLM!!
  2. Transitioned from an ISY994i/IR Pro installed in 2013, to the Eisy(5226) in 2024 and all was well until: This week (3/26/2025) the ISY programs stopped and I discovered the PLM LED off. Replaced the PLM with new module from Insteon, but after numerous power off & reboots into ISY Admin Console the PLM Status remains / "Not Connected". Troubleshooting: 1) Installed new PLM 2413U, LED ON then connected the USB cable, power up eisy 2) Install New USB Cable, repeat step 1 & 4 3) Use another USB Port, repeat step 1 & 4 4) IoX Finder - Admin Console (LAN) – ISY loads all Programs & all +48 Devices 5) PLM factory reset & reboot, ISY Tools/Diagnostics/PLM Status/Not Connected 6) File/Restore Modem (PLM) constantly cycles (0-100%) without “write update to devices” 7) Eisy will not perform a factory Reset (Multi-Function Button depressed = x10) Numerous, Power On Restart & Reboot: ISY Tools/Diagnostics/PLM Status/Not Connected Notes: 9) Firmware IoX v.5.8.4 (2024-06-27-11:35:44) 10) Internet Access: Disabled 11) Config/System/Network: settings DHCP (check-gray) and IP address is 0.0.0.0, cannot be changed. 12) Config/System/Clock: Change Locations, yields, Date correct, time -8 hrs. with Sunrise & Sunset resets to 12:00:00 AM. 13) Config/System/Clock: Change Locations, not saved in Clock Bar after changing tabs or reboot. 14) Tools LOG: UDReport.txt, 1st Error 0 Wed 2025/03/26 02:23:30 PM Questions: How can I test the PLM and/or eisy USB ports to determine which is the problem. Is it possible to do a eisy "factory Reset", then reload devices & programs from recent IoX Backup file, then Restore PLM? It would seem there is more than an PLM Not Connected issue with the "Config/System" issues Other Diagnostics/Troubleshooting Suggestions?? Thanks
  3. I have been using 10 of these Insteon 2442-222 Micro Dimmer driving 2 each 75 watts of incandescent PAR20 bulbs in an outdoor motion sensor flood lighting arrangement for many years without a single failure. I would anticipate the Micro Dimmer failure you experienced is due to the LED bulb it was driving. The Micro Dimmer is rated for 200 watts "incandescent" load and at 120Vac that is only 1.6 amps. Unfortunately, the Micro Dimmer output is not rated for driving an LED or CFL bulbs or the module spec would also indicate CFL/LED bulb compatibility. CFL and LED bulbs have a different current draw profile due to their internal circuitry and that current profile is not always compatible with the dimmer's output circuitry capability. So, if you try another Micro Dimmer with an LED bulb, I anticipate the new Micro Dimmer will suffer the same fate. I would anticipate that using low wattage incandescent bulbs as I have in a "programmed Dusk/Dawn-Motion Sensor-Dimmer Controlled fixture" (bulbs dimmed most of the time with an on-time of only minutes a day) is efficient and the actual cost difference compared to using an LED bulb for all practical purposes would be insignificant.
  4. FWIW, the Insteon Model 2443 Dual-Band Access Point has the same power supply board as the PLM and fail in the same way. I just repaired my PLM 2413S V1.B, date code:1325 (while waiting for a new one to arrive) by replacing C7 only with a 10uf 50v cap (105degC) that I had in by parts bins. I did a lot of Electronics Engineering, to include Switching Power Supply design, during my 40 year electronics career, hence I have tons of spare parts.) While I was testing/checking the system , I saw one of the 6ea. Access Points in my system had a dead LED. So, I pulled it apart and sure enough it has the same power supply and C7 was bad so I replaced it and the Access Point was back online. C7 is the first cap in the Pi filter, after D6, the half-wave rectifier and has the most ripple current; hence it will get the hottest from ESR. This power supply a DC to DC converter with a 200khz step-down transformer drive circuit.
  5. I GOT IT!!! Took awhile but I found it. I'm running IE 11 Open the Java Console - Security Tab - Uncheck "Java content in Browser" Click "OK" and close all Browsers and restart Browser. This will force the browser to provide the option "Do you want to open or save ?" with when you click on a Java hyperlink. This is much better because before every time I clicked on a Java link it would automatically launch the application with only a Run or Cancel option. I can also see if you open the java console and under Temporary Internet Files open "View" it provides the option to delete a single application of your choice and the cache. Would this be sufficient to delete the application before installing another jlpn file. Would be nice to independently clear and update the admin console or the Dashboard!! And, since I am full of questions; 1) I see the all versions of the Admin Console and Dashboard files have a generic name, so can I rename the file to add the version number without causing a problem for the installed file. I saved each file in a named version folder, however it just would make life easier to rename the file when it is saved and know which version you're launching. 2) Also, does it matter if I launch more than one version of the Admin Console or Dashboard without clearing the other application and cache? Or will the jlpn files get corrupt or confused with duplicate applications using the same cache? Thanks, Rod...
  6. Xathro, I tried your procedure however I did not see where I had a opportunity to save the file. When I pulled the Admin Console from my ISY it launched in to the Java Run screen/window. I also noticed the AC version stored in my ISY is v 4.1.17 and the Admin Console I installed from UDI download was v 4.1.2. The last firmware I installed was OADR v 4.1.17 for the ZigBee dongle, but so I do not need to launch the browser to load the AC I installed v 4.1.2. I anticipate the Admin Console v 4.1.17 was installed as part of with the firmware v 4.1.17. However, an updated Java versions can be installed to operate from the Java cached application. Can you please elaborate on your procedure to save the JNLP application during the download. Thanks, Rod...
  7. I stand corrected, It was a Alpha Admin Console I was running 4.1.3 but some how the URL I had for 4.1.3 installed v 4.1.4 on my system and that hosed the program loading. No fun...
  8. I have yet to discover a method for saving the Java Admin Console and Desktop applications (jnlp extention) on my system and installing from the saved file rather than from the UD URL. It may provide a more reliable restore process if I had a copy of the known good and tested Java application on my system when restoring the ISY Admin Console & Dashboard after clearing the Java cache. There is always an unknown element when running Java application files from a URL on the UD server. Just thinking, Rod...
  9. Xathros, I have been doing ISY stuff for only 5 months now and I just experienced my first Beta version Admin Console UI problem that prevented my programs from loading when the Program tab is opened. I fixed it by downgrading to v 4.1.2. However, it took a while to recognize the problem was the UI version since I had been using the install URL & version for the Admin Console for a week or so before the program load problem started. Regards, Rod...
  10. Peter, I agree however I have little hair to take action on!! Another post you may want to review: Subject: Inteon Micro Module Dimmer - 2442-222 Device Options window Date: Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:43 am URL: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13847 I discovered the best and easiest method to confirm the modules true switch functions is with the modules "Set Button". Identify Switch Type: Before you install Micro module behind a switch, you must determine which switch operation mode applies to your switch—latching, single momentary or dual momentary—as each is wired differently: • Latching (default mode): Switch has no central position. It can be tapped on both the top and bottom and remains in that state once released. • Single momentary: Switch can only be tapped in one location. It returns to central position once released. • Dual momentary: Switch can be tapped on both the top and bottom. It returns to central position once released. Also, reference the screen shot from the Device Options window on My ISY: firmware: OADR v 4.1.17, UI: v4.1.2. Note: the 3-way check box description different than your screen shot!! I have 2 Micro Module Dimmers installed in Motion Sensor circuits configured with "Latching", "Single Line" & "High always On; Low always Off" functions set yet the only box checked is "High always On; Low always Off". My troubleshooting yields: (this info was forwarded to Michel) "Latching: (Off) Momentary" - check box function reversed. "Single Line: (Off) Dual-Line" - check box function reversed. "Line High always On; Line Low always Off: (Off) Acts As 3-way" - check box function correct. The "Acts as 3-way" function can be tested with programming in the ISY controller or a linked switch to check the reversing of the module's sensor Line(s) High/Low & Module On/Off function. Lets not discuss how long it took for me to get the first motion sensor circuit working given 2 of the 3 Device Option switch check box functional descriptions are reversed . Having fun Now, Rod...
  11. Michel, The problem was a BAD Admin Console that just wouldn't open the Programs. I sent you an email explaining the problem and the link. Like I said, computers are just a passing fad!! Rod...
  12. Yes as I posted above the programs are still running normally. I have programs that turn the outside light off after a 10 sec. delay during daylight if the light is turned on and those programs are running fine.
  13. I tried disabling the Norton AV & Firewall but no change. The only other thing I see is the configuration/System - Network IP address will not save; after a re-boot the values return to all blank values. I tried using DHCP and then entering fixed LAN values set in the router (IP/Subnet/GW/DNS/HTTP) with DHCP & UPnP unchecked and with UPnP checked.
  14. I tried that first thing, The Summary tab is also blank...
  15. I just opened the Administrative Console and all My Programs are missing however the ISY programs are running.. Also, under the Configuration tab - System IP address is gone! However, ISY Finder has the correct URL (IP address & uuid), About info looks normal (fw: OADR v.4.1.17, ui: v.4.1.14), all the devices are in the Main tab and the Email/Notifications includes my SMPT Settings info. The Dashboard (4.1.17) has all MY Programs listed however the My Electricity - Provision the meter, Install Code and Extended PAN ID valued are incorrect. So what happen and how do I recover? Yep I rebooted my computer and the ISY994 Thanks for the Help, Rod...
  16. I'm going through the Provisions Process (first attempt to pair was 3/19/14). I thought it would post my experiences. Also, I am confused with some of what I read and what I was told by PGE HANs support personnel. 1) PGE customer support (TJ support supervisor, Sacramento, ph:877-743-4357) didn't want to even try to pair to the ISY because it is not on their validated devices list. I convinced him to try as I told him; the UD ISY was tested/validated with 22 PGE meters and UD customer support was behind their ZS device. I've read the PG&E HANs web pages, 994iZS Quick Start Guide and reviewed this thread. 2) I see previous posts using a 32 or 24 digit "Install Code". Yet TJ asked me for a 16 digit install code? PGE has no standard for the "Install Code" is it different for each Smart Meter type? My meter is a Landis+Gyr Focus AXR-SD. 3) The PGE support (TJ) use the EUID (MAC for PGE), Install Code (16 digit) and we tried to pair the Smart Meter with my ISY but an Extended PAN ID did not appear in the "Available PANs" window. So the pairing stopped after several attempts when I could go no further. Is there a way to test the Zigbee communication network with another device to confirm it is working/transmitting. Between my ISY and Smart Meter are 3-layers of stucco/wire and the meter box is facing away from the ISY so that may be causing problems with signal strength. However my 2.4GHz DSS cordless phone works just fine at the meter location and distance has not solved the pairing problem for nlaredo. 4) My ISY is running firmware: 994i OADR 4.1.2 firmware Update 4/3/14: OADR v 4.1.17and UI: 4.1.3 UI update 4/3/14: 4.1.2 My is a 994i/IR Pro upgraded with the ZS High Powered ZigBee Smart Grid Radio daughter board. 5) Problem: "Dashboard-My Electricity-Provision the meter" Installation Code pull down menu provides a 16 digit code when the 12 digit is selected and provides an 24 digit code when the 16 bit is selected! Also the Install Code generated in the Dashboard did not show/transfer to the "Administrative Console-Config.-Electricity-AMI-AMI Meter Settings-Install Code" field. Is that the experience of others? Answer is: the 16 digit "Install Code" is actually 20 digits long = 16 digit + 4 CRC digits. I'm unsure why the Dashboard Install Code value didn't transfer to the Admin Console the first time but it did once the 16 digit code selected. 6) EUID is all 00000's? What happened to the EUID that was displayed when we were trying to pair the Meter/ISY? Did the ZS module firmware get corrupted or is the daughter board bad. I anticipate I'm done until I get the missing EUID fixed. Answer: it seems my ZS dongle (upgrade to 994i/IR PRO) died so I'm getting a new one and I anticipate that should solve the all 00000's EUID problem Answer Update 4/3/14: Ok with a replacement ZS Dongle the EUID is back to normal and I'm waiting for the opportunity to call PGE (all work and no play - that is, I spent so much time troubleshooting my computer's degraded RAID and the ISY Admin Console & ZS Dongle running I need to say focused on my house remodel/refurbishment project for a few days Updates to follow.
  17. I sent the email to tech support and they enabled the module. Thanks
  18. Yes, after I installed the firmware, I cleared the Java Cache. I launched the control using http://isy and logged into the Admin Console Help "About" Firmware and UI are UD_OADR v.4.1.2 Product: ISY 994i/IR PRO (1110) -OpenADR (21010) -A10/X10 for Insteon (21060) Should the LED on the ZS daughter board (back of the ISY) be lit? Do I need to enable "OpenADR settings" under the Configuration/Electricity/Open AudoDR tab? Also, I no longer have a ISY Admin Console or Dashboard shortcuts on the desktop! Thanks,
  19. In preparation for PG&E Provisioning I needed to upgrade my 994i/IR Pro to include ZigBee. I contacted PG&E HAN and they are going to change out my Smart Meter to one that is capable of providing a ZigBee network connection So, from http://www.universal-devices.com/sales/products/?category=accessories I purchase the High Powered Zigbee Smart Grid (SEP1.1) Radio converts your ISY994 to ISY994 ZS Series and thus enables native communications with Smart Grid/AMI Utility Meters. However, the daughter board arrived without any documentation or installation instructions and I have yet to discover instruction specific to the installation of this module in the Wiki. The installations seems simple enough right? Open the box install the parts and install the firmware! 1) I did install the 4.1.2 firmware ISY 994i Z & ZS Series (Zigbee) from the Forum "Current Release, Betas, and Bug Reports" Post 2) I also installed the http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/zs/dashboard.jnlp. from the PGE Provisioning Post. Well in the "About" window my ISY Model is still 994i/IR Pro and in the dashboard the "My Electricity" Portlete is not available!! So at this point I'm in need of some professional help to walk me through the upgrade or point me to the direction for module installation instructions. I have the ISY-994iZS Series – Smart Meter Configuration Guide but in need the instruction to upgrade my ISY-994i/IR Pro to a 994i/IR ZS Pro. Thanks
  20. I now have 3 Micro Dimmer Modules (I bought a spare just to test) and they all work exactly the same. Once the module is added to the ISY and the Device Options window is opened and Query requested - none of the check boxes are selected/checked!! However, when I press the set button to check the modules status the Micro Dimmer Module will beep 3 times indicating the module is in the default setting "Latching" mode and after Query the "Latching" selection is not checked in the Device Options selection window. Also, when the "Latching" box is checked the module works as a "Momentary" switch and the status can be tested with the set button which will beep only once indicating the Single momentary mode!! I tested the switch mode selection from the Device Options window and "Latching (off Momentary)" and "Single Line (off Dual Line)" Options are reversed for all three of my Micro Dimmer Modules from the check box descriptions. This obviously indicates either the ISY firmware or UI is incorrectly coded for the Device Options window check box descriptions. However the "Line High always On; Line Low always Off (off) Act as 3-Way" works as described and I have it checked to disable 3-Way mode. My modules are working as needed for a motions sensor interface albeit the Device Options "Latching" switch selection is reversed I never decided to upgrade to firmware release 4.1.2 beta and if that version solves this problem it is an upgrade I may perform later. However, after 30 + years if PC & micro controller installation/configuration experience installing Beta versions of firmware and UI code on a system when I want the system with 55 control devices and 65 program segments to be as reliable as possible should be done with a great degree of caution due to the unknown issues and system data corruption possibilities. Also, Michel had me upgrade the UI to version 4.1.3 last week and that did not solve the problem so I may just sit where I am until the firmware release becomes official or should I have more time to play.
  21. With Version 4.0.5 I made a test setup and I observed problem with the ISY - Micro Dimmer Module - Device Options window check box verses the module’s switch functions. 1) When the Micro Dimmer Module is added none of the Device Options switch/device selections are checked. (incorrect for Default “latching†switch mode) 2) When the “Latching†box is not checked the Micro Dimmer Module is in “Latching†switch mode, [Latching = True] (reverse of options check box description) 3) When the “Single Line†is not checked the module is in “Single Line†switch mode, [single Line = True]. (reverse of options check box description) 4) Also, when “single Line†is not checked a switch tap initiates a module event Fast ON = DFON or Fast OFF = DFOF
  22. Occasionally, I see outside lights on after DAWN and I'm somewhat perplexed as to why the "if" statement when met do not execute the "Then" statements that would turn OFF the lights. In the Event Viewer I can see the motion sensor turned the lights ON and timed out but the program that dims the lights to 35% for a wait period is where the lights are left ON. There is a Motion Sensor and an After Dawn program that have failed to run for these lights to remain ON after Dawn at 35%. 1) Dusk = True, control program - turns the lights OFF after a wait period of minutes once the motion sensor turns OFF. 2) Dawn = True, control program - turns any outside lights OFF after a short wait period of 10 seconds. I can see from the sequence in the Event Viewer what causes this situation to happen with the Motion Sensor - Dusk program: 1) motion sensor(1), DON=1, ST=1 2) light, ST=242 (local on 95%) 3) motion sensor(1), DOF=0, ST=0 4) light, ST=89 (Program "IF" motion sensor OFF "Then" set scene = 35%, Program "IF" Dusk=True and light 35% "Then" wait 5 minutes then off) 5) Motion sensor(2), Dusk, DOF=2, ST-0 no more entries for this light... Therefore, Motion Sensor(2) Dusk ST=0, Dusk program = "False" with light ON at 35%. However, there is a second program to turns "lights OFF after Dawn"- The program logic is: if after Dawn light is not OFF then wait 10 seconds then turn the lights off: "IF" statement: Folder 'Dawn program' is True and 'Status porch light' is not OFF "Then" actions Wait 10 seconds Set scene 'porch light' OFF Set 'porch light SW' OFF Both of the "IF" statements above have been met and in Status column of the Program Summary window this program is True yet the program "Then" actions do not execute. So I anticipate the light will remain ON, I assume until Dusk. However, if I manually switch (ISY or local) the light off the "lights OFF after Dawn" program will execute as intended every time I manually switch the light ON during daylight hours!! Any thoughts? Thanks, Rod...
  23. The firmware is 4.0.5 I have 2 Micro Dimmers; they both perform identical with respect the Device Options dialog window and their response to the motion sensor input. I tried the factory reset and that didn't help as I still could only get the modules to work correctly after I used the module button to manually set the latching mode and 3-way disable.
  24. By "cannot be" programmed do you mean the options are showing but they do not get updated to the device when you select them and click "Done". What shows in the Event Viewer when you try? What version of ISY software are you running? Do you have the "Write Updates to Device" disabled? It's the green button with 1's and 0's on it. When grayed out, it means updates are not written until enabled again. Note that due to Java errors the button doesn't always appear. Mine is only there one out of five times when I open the Admin console. What happens you use the "Restore Device" function? Does it complete without error? Shannong, Are you indicating you have a Micro Module Dimmer in your system and the Switch Modes can be selected/programmed/setup from the YSI, Micro Module "Device Options" dialog window? Can't be programed: the "Device Options" switch modes checked then "Done" do not change the modules switch mode settings in the module. So I can check and click done all I want with no changes to the module switch input function. Is not a communication problem as I indicated... The module works great after I manually setup the Latching and 3-way disabled modes manually from the module set button. Event Viewer: The Micro Module address is there but after that I'm unsure how to read the viewer. YSI software: just loaded 4.1.3 admin console but it didn't help. Write Update: I have a 994i/IR Pro and the device write is always enabled. Restore Device: no errors.
  25. I have an issue with the Micro Module Dimmer V.43 (2442-222) and ISY994i/IR controller. The problem is the Momentary/Latching switch input and 3-way operation modes cannot be programmed from the ISY management console, Micro Dimmer Device, "Device Options" window. The user manual states: Configure INSTEON Settings Most Micro module links and settings can be configured locally—during installation with the module’s set button or after installation using the switch connected to the module. All Micro module settings can be managed remotely via software (sold separately). I have tried configuring the switch modes from the ISY "Device Options" window on 2 Micro Module Dimmers and the only way I can get a motion sensor to control either module correctly by the yellow switch wire is to manually program the module for latch mode (even though the module default mode is latching). Also, the 3-way toggle mode must be manually disabled so the motion sensor input is always a single pole toggle switch input. Also, the Query does not appear to report the actual modes manually programmed.
