  1. After some more research, the LIFX bulbs (and many other brands) have a feature that returns the last bulb setting/colour before the bulb loses power. Therefore I plan to use my current isy to turn on/off the bulbs....and I I want to change the colour, I'll use its app. It doesn't make sense to spend hundreds of dollars and countless setup hours to use the one app. (It would have been nice). But I an certainly live with that.
  2. I'm not sure this is possible but, I have my perfectly working isy994. I remember installing the RIng nodeserver at some point without having to get a polisy. (I don't remember how to do it) Now that the isy has been retired, can I install any node servers on the isy or do I need the eisy now? I'm actually trying to get some of my Hue bulbs to work with my isy rather than using the hue app on my phone. OR abandon the hue node server route and get some colour changing bulbs that will work with the isy (no other hardware)?
  3. Does anyone have experience with the EcolinK Firefighter. (smoke detector/co listener device). I believe its a smart things device but would like to know if ISY supports it and if it can be programmed to work with isy994zw. Thank-you
  4. Did some more reading, I believe i can use the ISY node server to configure wifi bulbs? just one at the moment. Its a Globe RGB wifi smart bulb (from costco). I just don't know where to begin. Is there a list of commands I program? is there a plugin i use? Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thank-you
  5. I'm trying to have all my automation devices under one app, one controller, the isy994zw. Would like to control these Globe wifi bulbs (no insteon switches) and be able to turn on, off, change color. I can do this with google assistant but want to be able to do this with the agave or mobilinc HD app. Is this possible without too much programming? Thank-you
  6. Yes i subscribe to ISY Portal (as i already use google home integrated with some insteon plugs). However, I don't always wish to 'speak' to google to turn on/off plugs. I mostly use the mobilinc app and prefer to manually turn on/off switches and plugs. I hope I can do this (as well as find a guide on how to set it up) I see inexpensive plugs on Amazon, ZOOZEE brand and/or TECKIN. They both seem to have extremely high feedback and positive reviews but the biggest reason to try these plugs because insteon hardware quick frankly is too expensive. $60/ a pop is unreasonable. Thank-you
  7. Generally i have 30 plus insteon plugs and dimmers.... but are too expensive. These new wifi plugs (works with IFTTT, Google assistant, Alexa...) are a pretty good deal. Since I don't want to get an additional hub or equipment, Can I use these pugs with the isy994? If so, is there a guide someone can point me to?. I'd like to use the isy interface and app i already have but would also like to see the plug's current state (if that is even possible). much appreciated. BC
  8. Thanks everyone, but no go. pushing 3 times, failed communications, parameters, wild west alright. I spent 2 days with this thing and nothing but grief. not once did it ever communicate but i see the temperature and i see the sensor register on/off when i put the magnet near the sensor. This is 2019, the age of phone apps and accessibility/ everything easy. I'm not wasting one more minute with this nonsense and have no more patience. I'll look for something else. Thanks for the help anyway.. BC
  9. Thank-you for the info, I did get the firmware upto 5.0.15A and yes you're correct about the timing. I haven't got that down yet but perhaps plan to wire-in permanent power supply and see where the parameter is to keep the device awake always. I'll also look for perhaps an insteon device that supports a probe that doesn't require batteries to operate. (as a plan Very great help and thank-you again. BC
  10. OK im glad you both replied. I actually did get to the parameter settings (thank-you). However i changed my first parameter and got... Ignored unsupported unsolicited Z-Wave message Z-Wave Command Failed ...so much for that. Anyway I was told to upgrade my firmware to 5.0.14. in order for the multi sensors to work. what shall i do next? your help is appreciated.
  11. I have a Fibaro FGK-103 door sensor & added the temperature probe and included in the z-wave network. Question is, when right-clicking the temperature sensor, and go to z-wave>set configuration parameters , I get 3 choices. Parameter Number Parameter size Parameter Value Does anyone know which one controls the reported temp interval? Number, Size, Value Wakeup value? Number, Size, Value? There is no documentation from universal devices that explain what each parameter means. Any help would be appreciated
  12. google home doesn't support the word 'lock' 'unlock' not yet anyway, this is what Im trying to achieve... however I did a little more reading as well as use your alexa example with the then/else program. google can run programs (as long as they are put in a sub folder of 'voice') in the program section of the isy. I can now say 'hey google, turn on door lock' and 'on' means lock. it works, similarly 'turn off door lock' and the lock unlocks. It works, but not with the correct voice command. however, it's a start until google supports 'lock'. There is an android app called 'auto voice' that seems to be able to interface with google assistant and allow different voice commands to trigger other commands. It's promising but that is for another day. I appreciate your help and patience. Thank-you
  13. Because Google takes the spoken name and then uses is as the voice trigger. Ex. If I write in 'hallway light', in the devices, (on the isy) after importing the devices to Google home, google waits to hear 'turn on hallway light.
  14. Right, however, I'm using Google home not Alexa. I think they work differently. Google assistant /home takes the voice names from the 'spoken' name in the notes section for each device in order for it to trigger the action This hurdle is what I'm trying to get over
  15. Stusviews, I appreciate your effort in trying to help, but you have to understand not everyone is at the same skill level as yourself. What is the name of the program you just wrote. How is it triggered when my voice says' lock the door' Thank you
