  1. OK, thanks for that. After a reboot of switches the local setting took place. Annoying, but I guess it it out of UD's control.
  2. * new user warning... * From what I understand about Insteon there is a difference between setting up a direct link between two devices and setting up a controler for a scene. My understanding is this: Direct device link: When the controller is triggered it tries to communicate with the responder N times until it gets an ACK. Group link: A message is sent to the group without getting any ACK from devices. It then goes through some sort of clean up to catch any devices that did not respond. If there is some type of other Insteon traffic though, the clean up may get intrupped. Bottom line: A directl link is more reliable. Question (Finnaly ): There seems to be only one way to setup linking in ISY. That is through scenes. So, how is the Insteon connection actully made? If there are only two devices does it do a direct link and if there are more than two it does a group link? Thanks for any clarity anyone can provide on this. Chad.
  3. Hi all, I'm a new user so, this may be my misunderstanding, but things don't seem to be working right for me when it comes to setting local ramp rates and dim levels. I was under the impression that went I clicked on a device the slideers on the right hand slide were to control and program the switches local ramp rates and dim levels. After setting these sliders I then go to my switches, but no changes occurs. They still respond with the old ramp rates and dim levels. If I right click the device and say 'query' it does come back with what I programed in ISY. If I go and manually set the dim level (I did not test ramp rate) on the switch it then works fine. If I query from ISY it shows me the new settings. If I then update from ISY the chnages again do not take effect, but every query will show that it did. I'm very confused. Am I not understanding how this is supposed to work? I tried this on four different switches in my house, so I assume that it is not a HW issue. ISY firmware: 2.6.7 (started with 2.6.5, but thought the upgrade may help) Switchlinc dimmers: v.24 and v.32 Thanks for any light that can be shed on this. My Insteon road has been very rocky I'm hoping that ISY will lay down some smooth pavment!
