I had a problem a few weeks ago that was similar. The ISY was working. It was sending timed commands (like lights off at 10 pm), but I couldn't log in via the app or admin console. I swapped the power supply. Rebooted the network, tried different network cables etc. Nothing worked, the next day it was fine. When I was actually able to log into the ISY (the few days I was having problems), I did a backup which took about 45 minutes. It usually takes a minute or so.

Yes, but V5 unlocks a lot of features

I have a brand new serial plm in case of failure. And of course, everything is working normally today.

It says purchased ISY modules transfer over, so I shouldn't have to buy them again if I am reading correctly. I would need to buy the eisy, serial adapter, and the zwave module (which isn't available). It's like a $450 investment. I wish I had seen this before I just set up a standalone mini pc just to run home assistant.

If it had something to do with the end of life it would have stopped working last year. That's all I meant.

Hmm, the SD card theory is interesting. I had issues with a Raspberry Pi that had a bad card. I have a backup I made today. I'm on 5.3.4 I'll check the contacts, but I don't think that's it. I can buy an eisy, then I need to buy a Z wave dongle and a serial adapter. It gets expensive. I can get a used ISY on ebay for $40. If I do that, can I transfer all my purchases to it?

I understand this, but it should and has been working for a year.

I've had my ISY for just about 10 years and it has been humming along ever since.....until today. I woke up with a notification on my phone that the ISY was offline. This happens time to time but it's usually for a few seconds until it is online again. I usually attribute it to network issues. Today it didn't reconnect. I swapped network cables, power supply, plugged it directly into my router (it's usually in a switch), power cycled, etc. I get a notification saying it's back online, but as soon as I go on the app and send a command it is offline again. I DID manage to log into it via the java browser and I made a backup which took about 45 minutes (normally around a minute?) Also, Aleksa says it's offline as well. My router recognizes it's connected, the LED on the switch is blinking, the ISY recognizes when the network cable is unplugged because it starts flashing red. When I set my Elk alarm, I got the notification on my phone, so i don't know. What do you think? I don't think it's my network. Everything else seems fine. If it was the PLM, I would be able to connect to it, but not send commands. Also, my timers work. I think those are stored in the PLM, correct? If it is the ISY, I can get another one on Ebay for cheap. I would just restore my config. Would all my purchased modules transfer (Elk, network, Zwave). I would consider a Eisy, but I think I use like 10% of the ISY capability. I don't really need a Eisy, I'm learning Home Assistant right now anyway. Can an ISY fail?

Nodelink connected to Genmon, but can't send commands
jason.russo.96 replied to jason.russo.96's topic in NodeLink
Ok, I figured it out. It's the firewall. If I turn the firewall (windows defender) off, everything works. What setting do I change to allow the commands through? -
I have my ISY and Genmon app linked through nodelink. I originally had it on my PC and it was working well, except that I had to leave the console open and it wouldn't let my monitor turn off. I have a micro PC in my basement that I use to monitor my aquariums. I usually remote into the PC, so I don't have a monitor on it. I installed nodelink and changed the IP in the ISY to point to the other PC. The monitoring portion works fine so I know the connection is set up properly, but if I send a command or query it fails. I can't start or stop the generator through the ISY (or more importantly, the UD app). I started the nodelink service on the original PC and changed the IP in the ISY to that one and it works like it is supposed to. I changed it back to the micro PC, and again it monitors, but doesn't command. What am I missing? I can access the ISY and the Genmon app from the micro PC, so I know they can communicate. Is is a windows setting?

Nodelink questions from a non-programmer
jason.russo.96 replied to jason.russo.96's topic in NodeLink
This is a good idea. I'll check it out. The "program" would be the command line script, correct? -
I'm not a programmer like most of you all, so please bear with me. Alot of the instructions assume you already know how to program this stuff!! I finally got nodelink to work so I can see my Genmon generator on the ISY. The Genmon is running on a raspberry pi. I used the script to install the software on the on the pi. The I installed nodelink on my PC (which is always on), and went through the settings. Either way, I'm psyched I can monitor it remotely Here is the problem, the cmd app needs to be running all the time for the data to transfer and it needs to be run in administrator mode. I put it in the startup folder, but I can't set it to "run as administrator.". It doesn't have the typical option under advanced. I'd like it to automatically start in case the computer reboots. Second, the command window needs to be open all the time. I can minimize it, but it prevents the screen saver from coming on. Is there something else I can do? Did I not do it correctly?

So I recently installed a pre-loaded Raspberry PI into my Generac generator. Everything works like it should. I can locally log into the Pi and monitor the generator, and I get pushover notifications. I stumbled across this thread, so I figured I would try it. When I SSH into the Pi, and I add the script, sudo curl -sSL http://automationshack.com/Files/install.sh | bash, I get the error screen I attached below. To be honest, I get this error when I try to add email notifications, I get a "could not resolve" error. Is there something I need to change to allow internet access? I don't have much experience with Raspberry Pi yet, but I'm looking to change that.

Do you know if I can import my setup from the ISY into eisy?

Will the new Insteon devices like the I3 (I am referring to the team who just bought Insteon led by Ken), work with my ISY 994I? If this is the direction that Insteon is going, then it would be great if it is to be integrated. Sent from my NE2215 using Tapatalk

What are all the extra devices?
jason.russo.96 replied to jason.russo.96's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
So they don't have any real function? I'm probably going to put them in a folder like you said to avoid the confusion of which one is the functional one. -
Due to the sunset of Insteon, I bought the Zwave module for my ISY 994I. I bought 2 toggle switches mainly for zwave coverage in my house. When I added the switches, it actually adds 8 devices. Only one of the devices has any control. What is the purpose of the other devices?

Setting a notification after a preset time (open door)
jason.russo.96 replied to jason.russo.96's topic in ISY994
Worked out correctly. I was thinking this was the way, but I didn't try it. The way it's written kind of says I will get an alert 2 minutes later every time the door opens. -
I want to set up a pushover notification if I leave my garage door open for 2 minutes. Sometimes the door sticks and I don't want my cats in the garage. I'm using my ELK door sensor. I have "If ELK Garage door sensor is violated," but I am stuck there. How do I write a program to run "If ELK garage door sensor is violated for 2 minutes...." I have the notifications all set as well.

Michael, I bought the Harmony Elite last year when I couldn't figure out how to get my Prontopro to work with my X1 (I did figure it out eventually but the wife liked the Harmony better). I sent Logitech multiple e-mails about this. I told them that the elite is geared to HA people and they need to work with UDI who has the best interface for insteon, zwave, etc. I even agreed to be a beta tester, but I haven't heard anything for over a year. Since then, I bought a ir Linc 2441r and added the buttons to insteon scenes. It works very well. The Harmony has functionality for the 2441. You then have to assign the buttons to the commands you want them linked to. I made a more than honest effort for you guys. I appreciate the product that you offer. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
