Thanks! Yes I did. I just did a factory reset on the PLM with ISY unplugged from power and from PLM. Plugged the PLM back into the ISY and ran the Reset PLM function. If I turn off a light using the console, the light goes off and I see activity in Event Viewer. If I turn it back on at the switch, the light comes on but there is no activity in the Event Viewer, and the consult lists the light as On. If I query the light, it correctly reports as off. The Reset PLM function didn't seem to take very long, and now when I check the PLM Links table there are only two entries. Any thoughts? Cheers!

Hi gang! I have an ISY 994i PRO, software 5.3.0. Last night my serial PLM died. I plugged in my spare this morning it lit up green. Fired up the LAN console and it wanted to do some reprogramming of all of the lights. I left it to do its thing for about an hour. Now it is doing something very odd. From the console interface I can control all my lights. If I look at the log on level 3, I see the outgoing message from the ISY and the ACK from the light. However, turning on/off any light does not generate any device communications events in my log, and none of my programs are triggered. I tried going a Restore PLM, and rebooting multiple times. No progress. Any ideas what I did wrong? Cheers!

Update: I found an older Restore that would load. Something must have gotten scrambled and perpetuated through the backups.

Hi everyone! My lights were misbehaving and when I opened the programming tab, a lot of my programs were missing, and a bunch had been taken out of folders and placed in the root programming folder. I ran the restore and I got an error "Upgrade Failed: Failed uploading file (reported written size is invalid). This happens with any of my backup files. I did a factory reset and it didn't help. Any suggestions? Cheers, Phil

New to Z Wave - did I do it right?
to_lighter replied to to_lighter's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Whew! Thanks for the quick reply. Very helpful! Will do as you suggested to clean things up a bit. Cheers! -
Hi everyone! I bought my first Z Wave device. It is an Enbrighten in wall receptacle. I wired it up, and used the Z-Wave menu to add the device. Worked nicely! However, now in my device list, I see the following (see pic below). Seems like a lot for a simple on off wall outlet. What are all the other entries for? Thanks in advance! Cheers

Help starting with Z Wave and ISY 994i PRO
to_lighter replied to to_lighter's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
Hi Just to clarify my question. If I purchased the Z-wave expansion model, or a new ISY with Z-Wave already installed, and a few Z-wave devices (wall outlets would work for me), do I also need a Z-Wave hub to form the Z-wave mesh network? From the sound of the answers, I guess not. The ISY can be programmed to control the devices after they have been added to the device list. Cheers! -
Help starting with Z Wave and ISY 994i PRO

Thanks for the replies. Hehe, my contractor wanted to put in a WiFi thermostat. They didn't ask about Z-Wave as well. Z-Wave requires a hub to run the mesh network? If so, which hub do people use? I have a couple of Insteon plugs and switches that might benefit from swapping to Z-Wave, so hopefully that would take care of concerns about the size of the mesh network. Cheers! -
Thanks Michel, Interesting. I don't have port forwarding set up on my router, so I'm not sure how that would occur. Would this show up in another log? In the meantime, how do I get my ISY to talk to my devices? Interestingly, when I turn on and off a light (for example, the one in my office), the status of the light in my admin console is updated correctly, so communication is occurring. However, if I query a device (any device) or try to update it or restore it I get communication errors. It's like the ISY has lost all ability to accurately communicate with the devices. Restore PLM didn't seem to help. This is true even after replacing the PLM. Should I use the Remove PLM function and then try Restore PLM? Cheers!

Well, things are not getting better. I replaced the PLM. I followed the wiki instructions and ran the restore PLM function. Now the ISY reports that is connected to the new PLM (correct address listed), but still will not communicate with a single device in my system. Also, when I run the PLM links function in now reports a count of 0 and no links are listed. The ISY seems to be in some kind of loop trying one by one to write to my dozens of devices. It has been reporting "System Busy" for most of the day. I guess I will try the restore PLM function again, if my ISY is ever not busy. Any other suggestions? Cheers!

Hi there ISY 994i PRO. Firmware 4.8.0 I was having problems communicating with my Insteon devices. Ultimately, this forum suggested that there were likely to be problems with my PLM. I have ordered a new one which is back ordered. In the meantime, my supplier gave me a loaner. A couple of questions. First, when using the Tools ... Diagnostics ... PLM info, the ISY lists the PLM as connected, however, it is not. The cable coming from the ISY is not plugged into anything and the original PLM has been returned to the store. Should I be worried about this? Second, what would be the procedure for using this loaner PLM? Is there a reset function for a PLM? And then would I use the Restore PLM function? Cheers!
