Only press / hold triggers are activating, not simple press
thedishking replied to thedishking's topic in eISYIR
Thank you very much! That helped a lot! Take care and Happy Holidays! -
Hello, I've had this running using the original 40 IR codes for over a year now, and it has worked great. About 2 months ago, we noticed the simple "press" triggers quit working. I have 3 triggers setup for each IR code: "Pressed" "Held", and "Released". Held and Released appear to be working, but the simple Pressed do not do anything. I did connect a laptop to the Flirc and I can see simple codes come in upon press, and also see them repeat when I hold the button on my remote. Is there a way I can get "Pressed" working again? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Hello, After opening a ticket, I promptly heard back from Michel. I honestly don't know what I was doing wrong. It is working now. Anyway, all is good now. Thank you everyone for your willingness to help!

Hi Geddy, Thank you for taking the time to be so detailed! Unfortunately, I think I have a bigger issue here as I still have the same issues. Hopefully my open ticket will help get my issues resolved. I'll report back as I make progress. Thank you, thedishking

I opened a ticket on this. Thanks

Hello, I recently noticed I was missing a few email notifications from my eISY. After doing some troubleshooting, I have found that I am not able to get into the admin console via my PC. I have done all of the Java jazz including downloading myisy from the UDI homepage. After noticing I could not get in via admin console, I've also noticed I cannot get into the Polyglot interface. I am on firmware 5.7.1 and PG3x version 3.2.17 Here is a screenshot from attempting to reach Polyglot: I can access the eISY device via SSH. I can also control devices via UD Mobile app on smartphone. I am not sure where this went sideways, as it had worked last time I tried to access it. Thank you for any help you have with getting this back on the air.

Thank you for creating and sharing these files.

I found some notes on the support thread for PG3x regarding reinstalling node servers. Apparently I missed that. I am not complaining. I remember some early bugs very early on when the 994 was new. Michel said he would resolve them. He did. I am all about helping making it better for everyone. I can appreciate the moving targets of some of these new devices. Elk has not changed much over the years. I do expect that to be very stable. Anyway, thank you for chiming in and for the words of encouragement. I did upgrade to 3.1.37 beta to see where that takes us. Thanks again and take care.

Hello, I am running PG3x 3.1.36. I will look into the 3.1.37 info. Hopefully these will become reliable as the 994 was. Fairly unstable at this point. I will file a ticket if problem persists. Thank you.

Do you have an Elk system? I had a friend that had an underlying automation that was in the Elk system, and it triggered the ISY to turn the lights on as you have described here. Anything else you could have given access to for ISY control (other automation systems)?

Hello, Running into a few issues with things randomly not working on eISY. I am on 5.6.3 I have noticed that events telling my Elk panel sometimes are not working. A reboot of eISY seems to resolve it, for a small period of time. I've also noticed Z-Wave triggers sometimes quit working, and again a reboot seems to get them working. Lastly, IR seems to stop responding (it has happened 3 times in the last 3 weeks), and again, a reboot of the eISY brings it back online. I have tried my best to make sure everything is up to date, and can't seem to see any errors when I am looking for them. After I noticed my Elk panel lost communication with the eISY again this morning, I grabbed this screenshot to see if we can resolve this. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

@lilyoyo1clearly you have a better understanding of Java (as most of us current ISY users do). All I am saying is it would be 10x more convenient for the more basic non - IT professional user to not require Java. Limiting the market to those who tolerate Java. I'll fax you the details later. Take care.
-
1st of all - having to maintain the Java environment. Most people that I know - don't ever need anything else to do where they need to log in to such an environment. I had to help 2 friends last year get Java installed (32 + 64 bit) on their laptops simply to access the admin console of the ISY. Simply directing them to an IP to pull up a site would be much cleaner. I am not questioning any of the previous reliability - but it sounds like some of you are defending the antiquated method of having to still tolerate the Java interface. I thought that with all of this jazz around a new piece of hardware - there would be some things that could finally be improved upon.

I had been anticipating more to come of the Polisy. Really lost interest a long time ago, and was hopeful this new eisy was going to bring some fresh ideas. I was trying to share my thoughts with Michel and others that care to read them. You seem to be speaking for them as an admin of this forum.
-
That has been nothing short of an absolute nightmare to support. I really would have thought that you would have moved to more of a pure web server that could be accessed with any old browser at this point.
-
@lilyoyo1 mentioned iTach. This is an IP to IR apparatus - they do not receive IR. While @gzahar mentioned a few devices that can provide a hardware link from a computer to the IR receiving world, who knows if any of them will ever be integrated. Nothing that can be easily integrated today. I was hopeful it was an oversight on Polisy - as it was initially marketed to "complement" the ISY.
-
Will the new Eisy still depend on Java?
-
Seems like a miss to have not included IR receive functionality. Hopefully it can be added. Like others, I depend on my ISY receiving IR to trigger scenes and control lights in several rooms of my home.

Wanted to post an update. I was able to make a few. Certainly getting better than the first unit. Initially tried Arial 24 Bold. Going to try a few different sizes. The far left was first done in Microsoft paint. The next few were done in Illustrator, and I was trying some paint on them. The last is from the 50 pack as reference. I have uploaded a picture of the software that is running the engraver. I am finding decent results with 8 passes.

Thanks. I just ordered some of the tape that Marcin mentioned. Going to try on the economical printer. What font / size are all of you using? I am excited to get more characters on a small button. PENINSULA LIGHTS (2 lines in upper case font) is my goal. If something is close to original font, that would be marvelous. This is certainly a lot classier than the old paper buttons we used to print and put in the clear buttons. Thanks again for all that you have done. Definitely broadening our horizons!

Hello, Thank you to everyone who has offered a lot of contributions here. My immediate question is has anyone tried using masking tape (plain white, painter's blue, etc.) instead of the laser tape? Thanks for your input!

Thank you for your help Xathros, that did the trick. I am trying to automate around a toggle device.... Since it is toggle, and controlled via IR, there is not much to know about it. Since the device does present itself as a large load when on, I thought I could use an iMeter Solo on it. Since the iMeter Solo does not publish the status upon change (serious design flaw??? Maybe at least give the integrator the ability to turn this feature on and off if it takes too much traffic on the INSTEON network) I thought I could query the device and publish the status of the result to a UI or a logic engine to provide discrete control. The /rest/query/<node-id> simply tells ISY to go and look. It would be nice if it published this data, but since it does not, a /rest/status/<node-id> does meet the goal. Thanks again for the help!!!!
-
Hello, I understand I can query a device in the java interface by right cicking, and select "query". This will cause ISY to go out and query the device. Is there a way to do this via the rest interface? I have tried status, query and a few other commands, but nothing seems to mirror the exact query command in the Java interface. This command does show the status: isy.ip.address/rest/status/AA%20BB%20CC%201 But it does not actually "query" the device the same as the Java interface does. The /rest/query/<node> does not do much of value.... Any thoughts? Thank you for your help!

This is great. The biggest challenge with my system today is the PLM dying every so often. Thank you Michel for helping make the system more reliable!! Sign me up to buy one.

Hello, My location is Minneapolis, MN and daylight savings time is checked. Something weird happened Saturday night. I noticed my triggered events were running 1 hour early rather than 1 hour late, or on time. So, I thought I'd go back to setting location based on choosing Minneapolis, MN, as well as changing time server from pool.ntp.org to time.nist.gov. It has been working for 30+ hours with this setting. The real question is do you have any idea why this may be off an hour? I something getting corrupt somewhere and causing this? Thank you for your help. thedishking
