hi lee many thanks for the info, i have tried using the normla linking mode from the admin console and also putting one at a time in linking mode and then trying to linkfrom the cpnsole and both methods give the same error?

when itry to link some of my devices it gives me the error cannot determine insteon engine i get this on the insteon motion sensors and remotelinc2 and do not know how to get around it. does any know how to fix. i have an isy994i wit hthe latest revision software. also when i try to connect or link to the remotelinc it says it cannot open the file, i had this unit linked before and it stopped working so i deleted it from the isy system but now it won't link again see error in attachment have tried to restore the backup and done various power off's etc,...... anything else i can try to over ride this

hi thanks for the input, yes i power down the old unit before powering up the new one so the old 99i should not be on the system, i will try the procedure. thanks for the help, will let you know how i get on

when i go through the aministrative console then it will 'seel' the 994i. and givers it a url of http://192.168.1.10/desc but then gives pop ups that say "socket open failed java.net.sockettimeoutexception" and another pop up says "XML parse error http::192.168.1.10:80/desc" so it can see it but something is blocking or not apper to be setup correctly in java my jave rev is version 8 update 65 build 1.8.0+65-b17 and was updated this past couple of days sio i am sure that is good

i have both mac and pc and cannot get to ttalk to the new isy 994i i cvannot us the console command http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin16.jnlp http://isy (send to to another site www.isy.com which is a sales site) as it required me to know the software revsion and it is not writtin on the unit and i cannot talk to it to find out. any advice. have done the clear cache and other things suggested , it just does not seem to want to talk to this unit, really disappjted inthe lack of doicumentation. i am moving from a 99i to 994i as vannto get units to work with 99i as all going obsolete. so have no choice. assumed this was a common update but appears not help?

the program i run are for thingslike switch the lights of when we go out turn the air con down so it is not as cold that kind of stuff another button would be for vacation so will put the air con on vacation mode so a little giher and the will randomize some of the on /off timings of the lights ot make it appear we are hear will try your suggestion and let oyu know how i get on , thans for the help so far

i have a folder in the program tab of the isy. when i click onthe folder i have entered a statement in the window, see attached photo below. does this make sense. i think the logic is okay ,but when i hit the D button ( or any of the a,b,c or d) the isy does not recognize they have been pressed?

no when i said i did the linking , i have two keypad link s one at each end of the house and linked the A,B, C and D or each so you press A on one and it lights up on that keypad and also on the other keypad. i did not use the linking to set the scenes up as i think that is too complicated and not flixible enough. i want to run a set of programs in a folder when a button is pressed so i can do a vacation button to randomize lights on etc... and a night time watching tv button that sets lights and aircon etc....

not from here ,at work now, but will get it hear when i get home tonight. can you confirm what the KPL buttons are? not heard that referecne. really love my insteon stuff but need to understand how to get the most out of it

on a similar topic: I have some keypad linc devices 2487S devices and have them integrated into my home automation system I have programs I run from an isy99 I have used the insteon linking to connect the keypad linc devices to various other insteon controllers for lights and pumps/fans etc… and they work okay, but I now want to use the status of the buttons to drive the programs for some reason the isy does not recognize the status of the A,B,C and D buttons. There is an option in the programs section of isy to run programs within a folder when a status of a button is met and thought I could use the status of the A,B C and D buttons on the leypad linc. Is this correct? What am I doing worng?
