Hello Everyone, I have a program (under "My Programs") named "House Sleep". This program turns off all the lights in my home when I click a button on my keypad. This works perfectly. I created a copy of this program named "House Sleep 2am" that is supposed to run automatically at 2am and turn off all the house lights. I have the IF condition set as: Time is 2:00:00AM. In the admin console, the little icon beside "House Sleep" is green and the icon beside "House Sleep 2am" is red. It's just a small line on the left side of the icon. As far as I can tell, both programs are enabled. The "House Sleep 2am" doesn't seem to be running as my lights are still on in the morning. I assume this red indicator is trying to tell me there's a problem, but I'm not sure what. Can someone please help me understand what the red icon means and how I can resolve it? Or possibly how I can check the logs to see if/when this program is running as that may provide a clue. Many thanks in advance!

Hello Everyone, Thanks again for all the help and support. You all rock! I wanted to provide a quick update.... I replaced the switch that was acting funky with a new dual-band switch...... and linked it to the ISY. I didn't end up doing the "replace".... instead I just went manually and added it in anywhere the old switch existed (before deleting the old one). So far so good! No communication issues, and the switch seems very responsive to Alexa commands. WOO HOO! While swapping this switch, I actually replaced another one as well in my daughter's closest. I hope you don't mind me asking another question in this thread about that. When I go into Linking Mode in the ISY Admin panel.... and hold the "set" button on the new switch.... the ISY does "not" pick it up. Every other time I've done this, it finds the switch and adds it right away. Any ideas what I can do if it's not finding this specific switch? Thanks again!

Thanks! is there a way for me to troubleshoot noise on the line to also explore that avenue?
-
Thanks everyone! I'll get a new dual-band switch installed this week, and see if that does the trick. If it's still acting funky, I'll report back. Appreciate everyone's help and guidance.

First and foremost, my thanks to everyone for their support! It's greatly appreciated I have done a full factory reset on the switch. I then did a "restore" via the ISY admin panel. It seemed to run successfully (no errors), however the green icon of "1011" is still beside the device in the admin panel. I assume that means we've got a communication issue Since this is an older switch....and a very high usage one... does it make more sense to replace it? I believe I have a new one I can swap in. Is there an easy way to "replace" a switch in the ISY admin panel so all the programs/scenes copy to the new switch? Same thing with getting Alexa to recognize the new switch. Wondering if there's any tricks as opposed to deleting and re-adding to all scenes/programs. Thanks again! P.S. There's a guy in town who can repair Insteon switches. Does it make sense to even get this repaired, or it's so old that I really should use Dual Band for everything.

The device that is acting funky is a 2486D Keypad Link Dimmer. (It could be very old....) So far I have tried to do a "Restore Device". At first glance this worked, and I was able to turn the light on/off. But then it only worked every few attempts and would fail with a high frequency. In the admin panel, I started seeing "Cannot communicate with Bedside Switch. Please check connection." Also, in the admin console, there is a green icon with "1011" directly to the left of the device name. I'm not sure what that means. Should I replace the switch to something new (as this is a high usage switch)? I can still try to factory reset it, as I haven't done that yet. Thanks to all for their help! It's greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I’ll try that now. Do I have to put the switch into linking mode (by holding the set button) when doing the restore? I’m hoping it’s not noise on the line… the ISY seems to be able to turn everything else on/off in the room… and can even turn this switch off (just not on).

Hello Everyone, I have a 6 button Insteon switch that has worked perfectly (via the ISY and Alexa) for ages. Suddenly, the ISY (directly via the ISY portal and via Alexa), it can turn "off" the switch, but not turn it "on". Is it possible to fix this? I can turn it on and off at the physical switch. But if it's off, the ISY seems to do nothing when "on" is clicked. If however, I turn it on manually (at the switch), then it fails to turn off in the ISY portal. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Amazing! Thanks so much for the quick reply. Adding it manually with the IP address worked like a charm and got me in there right away. Appreciate the help. Cheers!

Hi Team, Hoping people here may have some wisdom because I'm truly stumped. I am unable to access the Java Admin Console no matter what I try. - I can access the ISY and see it's online through the cloud/web portal - I can access the ISY through the mobilinc iOS app - I can see the router in the list of wired/connected devices within the Eero router app Yet despite all that if I open the "launcher" it does not find the ISY. I have tried the launcher on Windows and Mac, but no luck. I have tried to clear the Java cache and re-download the launcher, but it still doesn't find anything. Any ideas? I recently updated my home Router to the Eero system. Not sure if that is part of the issue or a special setting is needed. I'm trying to add a new Insteon switch that I had to replace before the weekend, but I'm stumped at every turn. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much! I did a factory reset at the switch itself and that seems to have done the trick! The switch is no longer randomly being controlled by the ones beside it. Appreciate the help!!!

Hello Everyone, After banging my head against the wall for several hours, I need to ask for some help.... and I'm hoping there's an easy obvious solution. I have a 4-bank switch at the front of my house. I just replaced one of them. When testing things, I noticed that "switch 2", seems to be connected to "switch 1" and "switch 3". What I mean by this that if switch 1 is turned on/off it also changes the status of switch 2. Weird! And, the same happens if switch 3 is turned on/off, it also changes the status of switch 2. So weird! I've tried to look for scenes or programs that connect these, but I can't find anything. I can't figure out why these two other switches would control this switch that should be stand-alone. If I only turn on/off "switch 2" then the others are not impacted. So the control seems to be one-way, in case that's a clue. Any ideas? Right now every time my porch light turns on (switch 3), it also turns on my chandelier (switch 2)...so it's mega strange as I can't see why I'd ever link them. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I just replaced two Insteon dimmer switches in my son's bedroom. One of the switches has an "On Level" setting of 50% and a ramp rate of 2 seconds. I'm trying to change this so the on level is 100% and the ramp rate is 0.5 seconds. I cannot seem to figure out how to get these settings to "save". I must be missing something obvious. ? Can anyone please give me a push in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hello Everyone, I noticed the other day that Mobilinc stopped working and didn't control my lights, which was odd because it always works. I then went on a computer and loaded the Universal Devices Administrative Console. When I try to toggle a light on or off, nothing happens and then I get an error saying: Socket Open Failed java.net.SocketTimeoutException What's strange is that as I do this with multiple different lights/switches, it does sometimes work. It seems like some switches are working and others produce the above mentioned error (and don't work). As I poked some more buttons in the admin panel, I also got this error: Could not open config file to read [/CONF/INSTENG.OPT] Could not open file [/CONF/INSTENG.OPT] I've never seen these errors before. Any idea what's up? I haven't done any maintenance or added any new devices or anything like that. Firmware: 4.7.3 UI: 4.7.3 Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Thanks a lot, Techman! Appreciate the help and suggestion. I followed that link and now I have both the firmware and UI showing 4.7.3. I also saved a new backup, per your reco. I probably want to customize the motion sensors more than a 30 second 'on' command, which is really the key reason I'm looking at the 5.x beta releases. In your opinion is 5.015A stable enough or would you wait? I can certainly go longer without the motion sensors working if I had to. Thanks again!
-
Hello Everyone, I'm currently on UI version 4.6.2 and firmware 4.7.3. I was hoping to upgrade to the latest and greatest version. As of this post, the latest version seems to be "5.0.15A Beta". I've got some new motion detectors that I understand will only work on the latest version. I understand this is a big leap forward and may require a lot of manual intervention. I'm just wondering if (a) people recommend updating and (b) how I kick-off the process. I saw this in the documentation and was confused: You must use the 5.0.9 Admin Console or greater to upgrade to this release (5.0.15). Since I'm not on 5.0.9, how do I upgrade to 5.0.15? This is one of the prerequisites and I don't want to start anything until I understand what this means. Also, I'm not clear which firmware I need: - ISY 994i Series including Insteon & Z-Wave support - ISY 994i ZW, Z, or ZS Series (Z-Wave/Zigbee and/or if you do NOT have a PLM) Since I'm using the ISY 994i Pro with Insteon devices, I assume it's the first one? Thanks in advance!
-
Hello All, I just upgraded my ISY 994i Pro to version 4.2.5. Previously, when I went on Windows 7 or 8 to My Computer > Network, I would see "My Lighting" in the list. Now, however, it is gone. I can still get to the ISY by manually typing the IP.... but it was more convenient before. Did I do something wrong that messed this up? Is there a setting somewhere to get this to show up again? Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Thanks Lee. That is easy enough to try. I do love simple solutions. Cheers!

Hi Guys, I have had a motion detector (2420M) setup on the staircase heading into my basement. And, of course, it's properly linked to my ISY. It has been working perfectly for years.... flawlessly. All of a sudden, I noticed that the stair light was almost always on. If I turned it off, it would turn back on again. So, it seems to be like the motion detector is sending an 'on' trigger even when no motion is being detected. Has anyone had this happen before? Any ideas what could cause this? Could the unit have just broken... or there a setting I can adjust? Here are my current settings (which I think are correct): Timeout (minutes): 4 LED Brightness: 100 Darkness Sensitivity: 35 Sending Mode: Only after timeout (unchecked) On Only Mode: On Commands Only (unchecked) Night Mode: Always (checked) Any insight is appreciated! Cheers!

I tried pressing the 'set' button and there was no flashing on the access point. I tried linking a new motion and it worked like a charm. So, I guess this old motion is broken and off to the trash. ... it had a good run! Many thanks for the help!
-
So you're thinking the motion detector is dead? It's odd because it flashes when it's being setup, and detects motion... it looks normal.
-
Hi Guys, The motion detector in my master bathroom stopped working. I thought it was the battery, but even after I replaced it, it wouldn't work (...it would flash, but not update anything in the console). I deleted the device from the ISY99. Now I'm trying to re-add it. When I do that, I get the error: 0A.3C.83 (2420M-SP) INSTEON Motion Sensor v.00 - Cannot determine Insteon Engine I read that this might mean it's too far away from an access point. So, I moved it right below one, but got the same result. In other related news, when I login to the Admin Console, I get two "cannot communicate" warnings for two other lamp lincs in the master bedroom. Could this be a sign of a fauly access point? Faulty motion detector? There is one other motion detector on the same floor and that one still works properly. Also, my bedside remote that is in a scene with my lamp (on a lamplinc) works. But, any program that involves that LampLinc doesn't seem to work. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
-
Ahh.... good point! I'll use ApplianceLincs instead. I can totally see a digital frame not reacting well to being 'dimmed'.

Hi Guys, I've got a somewhat random off-topic question, but I figured I'd pick the brains of the gurus in this forum. I'm in the process of finishing my basement and in the hallway, I want to have 4 digital picture frames (2 on each wall). I had an electrician put a plug where I'd need it...so we've got power. And, I've got several LampLincs ready for action. What I wanted to do was have a motion detector in the hallway so that if it detects motion, it triggers the LampLincs, which, in turn, turns on all the digital picture frames. Then, they would remain on, until the basement lights are turned off (which would trigger the LampLincs to power down). Basically, I think these digital frames (I'm hoping to get BIG ones) will be really cool.... but not if they are powered down and blank when people walk by. So, I've got two questions/concerns: 1. Do you think my motion detector to trigger LampLincs is the best way to accomplish this? 2. Many of the digital picture frames I'm seeing have 'soft' power buttons as opposed to a hard on/off switch. In order for me to control things by simply toggling the power to the device, I kind of need it to be stuck in the 'on' position so it boots up (and ideally starts a slideshow) the moment it receives power. Does anyone know of a brand or frame that would allow me to accomplish this? (The bigger the frame the better.... since I'm having my first child and I'm sure I want the biggest pictures I can get on the wall!) Thanks in advance. Cheers!

I figured it out.... or so it seems... Here is my exact process just in case someone finds this thread in the future (since I don't want them to be frustrated like I was!): - Add the IRlinc 2441R to your Harmony Remote (This will give it all the default buttons that appear on the IRlinc remote control) - In the UD Admin Panel, go to "Link Management" then "Add Button to IRLinc Receiver" - On the side of the IRlink, press the "set" button for 5 seconds. (Blue light will turn off) - Press the button on the Harmony remote for the scene you want it to learn. (Blue light will blink) Note: It doesn't matter whether you choose the on or off version of the scene. - Press the 'set' button on the side of the IRlinc once. (Blue light will keep blinking) - Press "OK" on the UD "Add Button to IRlinc Receiver" screen. The device/scene will now be added under "My Lighting". Based on what I can see, it adds one device for both the on/off buttons. So, it's not like you can add "Scene A On" as one device and "Scene A Off" as another device. I hope this helps! Cheers.
