I have no battery powered devices, it was random wired in modules that weren't responding. I couldn't detect a pattern as far as type, revision, or distance from the PLM. I elected not to repair the old once since my hands are no longer steady enough to do that kind of fine soldering. I got my new 2413 from Amazon. No date on it, Revision 2.2, identical circuit boards, "1629" code on it, Address begins with 43. Have not tried it out yet.
-
Sticker on the 2413S is V1.B 1403 Address is 2A.A2.CE The 2412S simply does not work. After doing a restore modem half the devices have the "writing to" tag on, restoring on of them results in "device not responding", No manual commands entered on the computer are getting out. Some programs work and some don't. Any chance the serial port or something on the ISY also got fried or is it more likely the 2412 is just incompatible, or else decayed from sitting in the box for years wiithout being plugged in?

OK, Next Question I have a 2412S sitting in the box along with my ISY-26. I recall it was recommended I replace the PLM with the 2413S when I got the 994I, What would happen if I tried to use the 2412S with the 994I until I can repair or replace the 2413S Thanks.

Update- unplugged the PLM again. When I plugged it back in again I heard a pop, the LED won't light, and now no communication is going either direction...
-
Yesterday found that a program didn't run. Opened up ISY 994I and it reported it was in "Safe Mode" because it couldn't communicate with the PLM". Trying to load programs produced a cryptic error. Unplugged and replugged in both without effect. Noticed a firmware upgrade available so I updated it, now outgoing commands from programs or the console work. Incoming status still does not. Bad ISY? Bad PLM? Bad Firmware?
-
As an update. I did a factory reset on the PLM. Now I can issue commands from ISY, but not see device status. I found that if I delete a device and reinstall it that fixed the problem. So I'm assuming I have to reinstall all the devices and redo all the scenes...

That was my intial thought, but I thought I should be able to see and load programs if ISY was fine. I know sometimes SmartHome devices will spontaniously go bad, but does it make sense that a nuisance GFI trip could take one out? I'm less than impressed about the quality of SH devices; I've had about a half dozen fail. Sometimes leaving them unplugged for a couple of days will unbrick them, and sometimes not. Of course I can find my old ISY-26 but not my old modem.
-
Noticed last night that no programs were running. The circuit that the PLM was plugged into had the GFCI tripped, but when I reset it the system still doesn't work. From ISY I can't call up any programs from the admin console, I get " error, Loading: /programs/" and when I try to issue a request I get request failed. It started in what it said was "safe mode"; it wasn't able to restore the modem.

Now I had one of the newer lamplincs brick itself too. ISY doesn't see it when I try to linc it, and the PLM sounds unhappy- it emits a constant beep for 5 seconds. Or else ISY sees it and gives the message "Already Added" while highlighting a random device in the tree. And a switchlinc relay has bricked itself while being programmed. Anyone else had these kinds of problems?

A long time 26 user here, I had to upgrade to the 994 because of the change to Insteon protocol I can no longer replace failing devices. I thought I'd share my thoughts and questions on it here: Form Factor: That's something I complained about with the original 26- it was oddly shaped and all the ports were on top. The 994 keeps the lights on the front, but moves the ports to the back where they belong. I did like that on the 26 they used a DB-9 connector instead of an Ethernet jack so at least you couldn't mess up the wiring on that side (using an Ethernet port for RS-232 is, I feel, a mistake), but it was changed to a jack on the 994. Also, the plastic case feels light and cheap and doesn't stay put if you so much as breathe on it. My Trendnet TEG-550G switch is a good example of how something can be small, yet solid. It also looks odd to have a hole where the IR would go. I'd prefer another LED on the front for link/activity rather than having a big red light flashing an error if it's not hooked up to a network. The interface was something they got right with the 26, and I'm glad it hasn't "improved". My only quibble is it's not clear what effect the various ramp rate and on level sliders do with respect to the scenes, but this seems to be more a theoretical problem with Insteon. I can't see why one would want a scene to behave differently depending on where it's triggered, but I guess some people do. One of my Switchlinc dimmers apparently bricked itself while being programmed. It'll still work locally, but not receive or send commands. I decided to start with a fresh setup, but I'm leaving the 26 active, and gradually removing devices from it and adding them to the 994 to ease the transition. So I have two working ISY/PLMs now, but there's no overlap, so it seems to be working. If the new Switchlincs can flash the LED with Insteon traffic, that's one feature I would like. I really miss my old PCS Smartswitches, which would not only blink for traffic, but blink a different color if the traffic was meant for it. My "dead" ControLincs are working fine now with the new system, so it was apparently and issue with ISY or the PLM, not the devices. I suspected as much when I tried tap linking one of them and it worked. The checkout here did not work for some reason, it just hanged when I got to PayPal. I waited until the last minute, so I decided to use my 15% off coupon from Smarhome since that was expiring that night. Overall I'd rate it a 9.5/10. --------------------------------------- Question: I'm sitting at a Starbucks with my laptop. How do I access ISY? I do plan to get a iPhone this winter, so how does that work? Question: Is the best way to control things from my car to get a Insteon remote and clip it to my visor now that I have an RF device, rather than try to get an EZX10RF to work with my integrated Homelink transmitter?

I was about to buy a new unit from Smarthome when I noticed an "Upgrade Price" for $129.00 on the Universal-Devices sales page. Who is eligible and how do they get this pricing?
-
Just because I can load a backup file would it be a good idea, would it be cleaner if I started over or doesn't it make a difference?
-
Someone told me a 26 backup couldn't be loaded onto a 994?
-
So next question: How do I handle the transition. Do I need to decommission the old ISY and PLM immediately, or can the two coexist until I get all the devices and programs added to the new unit?
-
I plan to get a new ISY-994i since there's a Smarthome coupon out there and my current ISY-26 system is degenerating. Can I reuse the old PLM? 2412S 3307Firm52 Rev 4.2. or would replacing it be a better option. One issue I am having is Controlincs will not send on/off commands when programmed by ISY, ISY will not show the state, but they work fine when tap-linked. So I'm wondering if I have an ISY problem or a PLM problem rather than a Controlinc problem. Will the old PLM even work with I2CS, would a new one be faster to write links because of I2CS? Although I currently have no use for Insteon RF, I wonder if the thing to do would be to just get a remote to clip to my sun visor rather than getting an EZX10RF to work with the Homelink in my car, considering the problems reported with them and ISY.
-
I don't have a "show device links" option. Is this someplace else on the 26 as opposed to the 99? I do suspect that the second unit works though, because it can control the module like it's supposed to when direct linked. EDIT Actually my "bad" devices work properly when tap linked, just not when linked through the ISY. So I wonder if my problem is something other than bad Controlincs?

I still have a 1960s Honeywell round thermostat that I change the temperature on twice a year so I'm not worried, but I imagine what Google actually wants is the developers, not the thermostats. I can see the Google Fridge coming down the pike. It senses you're low on eggs and displays an ad for the local market, or a coupon for a restaurant if all you have are week-old leftovers.

My Insteon devices are aging and starting to fail, which is getting to be an increasing issue since I can't buy new ones with to replace them with the ISY-26 I have. I tried buying used Controlincs, but one came without the Insteon ID sticker (is there any other way to figure it out?) and one apparently worked initially but failed within a couple of hours in the same manner as my other ones so I'm ready to give up on them and go with keypads). I'm almost tempted to use the Smarthome coupon to get a new ISY/PLM setup. I just control lights, I have absolutely no interest in temperature control, energy monitoring, IR, etc. I presume I want the regular non-pro, non-IR model. Does creating scenes and programs work the same way as the 26? Does the mobillinc app and remote access just work, or is it complicated to set up? Does it work to have both of them operational at the same time during the transition period?

When I click on the link it loads the Admin Console and I don't see anything that looks like "ISY Finder". PLM status is "9.39BD v52 / Connected" Firmware is in fact 2.7.15 Regards, Monte

Still didn't work, unfortunately.

Unfortunately I tried all the recommended solutions and even disabling Avast web scanning temporarily and still no luck. I'm wondering if this is a Java issue? I seem to have 1.6.0
-
I am in fact running AVAST 6.0.1289. I'll research when I get more time tonight.

My ISY-26 has been working OK for some time, but now it's developed some issues: 1.) Everything under "Devices" works correctly and reports the correct status of devices. 2.) Under the Admin Console, the status of all devices is blank. All devices have ramp rate 9 min and on level 0% 3.) I can add and remove devices from scenes. Changing the on level, ramp rate has no effect. 4.) I have tried unplugging both ISY and the PLM. 5.) Enabling / Disabling programs takes many tries to see any effect. 6.) All programs, scenes, etc are working correctly.

Quick question. I've read messages about people using it with ISY-99 but does ISY-26 work with it? Given the amount of time they've had it seems the keychain remotes are the only product Smarhome will never, ever replace with Insteon and I believe the Homelinc in my Jeep will work with X10 but not Insteon.

ISY 26. Cycling power doesn't stop it, all timers and such seem to be working.
