Our fridge died on us and we lost all of our food. I want to avoid having this happen again. What's the best temp sensor that will work on the ISY so I can program it to text me if the temp ever goes up again? My ISY supports z-wave but I'm having a hard time finding something that will work easily. Would like to find something thats $50 or less to handle this.

I was looking into routines but seems they only support devices and my leak sensors don't show up in my device list probably because they are battery operated so I am still searching for ways to make this possible.

One of my Insteon leak sensors detected water last night (2:30am) while I was sleeping and since i use DND (Do Not Disturb) on my iPhone I never got an audible notification. Now I have a basement full of water due to a shoddy contractor that damaged a water line. Currently I have an ISY program thats sends a push notification to Pushover with a priority set to 1 (High Priority). At the moment there seems to be no way to make a specific app bypass the DND settings on the phone to alert me. I need to think of a creative way to be woken up in case this ever happens again. I could try using an auto dialer since I believe there is a setting to allow specific numbers to bypass DND but I don't see an easy way to do this and one that would be free. Now I do have an echo dot right next to me that I would love to see if I can send a notification or alarm to Alexa to wake me if my leak sensor detects water. Is there a way to do this? Are there other ways that I am missing?

Create two programs with one opening and the other closing and then assign them a spoken word on the ISY portal. I did not like saying "turn on the blinds" it just sounds silly so I made my spoken "privacy" so now I say "turn on privacy" and then blinds go down and "turn off privacy" and the blinds go up. Sounds more logical to me this way. This has been working perfectly for me.

I just installed a new Yale lock with the zwave module and everything is working except one thing. When I send the command Unlock from ISY nothing happens. The command Lock works and I see it update in the UI showing Locked. If I manually unlock it the status is quickly updated on UI to show unlocked. I just can't unlock it remotely. Any ideas? I was running 4.x and have recently updated to 5.0.9 and still getting the same issue. I can see it working on ISY when I click Unlock where the popup shows 3% writing and then disappears and nothing happens.

I have Simple Control and ISY and it's working great so far. I have about ~40 insteon switches that Simple Control handles no problem. Since it supports feedback I get the current state of all the lights and the level of brightness. I also have it control all of my ceiling fans which use zwave switches. Simple Control really lets you use all of the ISY functionality. You can control devices, scenes and run programs. Let me know if you have any questions.

I had a landscape company come out last night to give me an estimate on an irrigation system. I am not sure how many zones I will need just yet until he comes back with his plan but my lot size is ~0.50 acres so I don't have a lot of property. The company said they offer a couple of different controllers like Rainbird. Now I have never had an irrigation system but I wanted to ask what is the most reliable controller out today that integrates nicely with ISY. I see a lot of people mention EZFlora but over on smarthome it has numerous poor reviews all around quality. I am not worried about cost if I can get one that is reliable and will last. For the people that have an irrigation system if you had to start over what would you buy today?

Well the obvious question is the variable being set to 1 correctly when its the first day of the month. Whats the program that sets this variable? What is the value of the variable now?

elvisimprsntr, Closing a door using MyQ will create a loud beeping noise for 10 seconds before closing and then continuously beep while closing.

Just have echo call a program instead which can then turn on your scene followed by the network resource to run.

I am getting this same warning every time but Alexa still works. Not sure if its a bug with the portal.

I am having the hardest time with this too. My ISY portal shows registered and online. My profile in ISY portal shows my amazon account is linked. I go to alexa.amazon.com and enable the skill and I always get this message with a continue button Clicking continue always brings up this success message. I never sign into my ISY portal. I have tried deleting all cookies and history, unlinking amazon account from portal and every time I get this same success message without needing to sign into ISY portal. Now every time I go to ISY Portal and click Connectivity -> Amazon Echo I get this error message The weird thing is even though I get this error message Alexa still works with all my skills. She is able to turn on/off all my lights using all of the spokens I created.

This is also hit and miss for me too. I wish I didn't have to say the command. But like Stu said if I start with the command "Turn" it works every time.

I am having an issue writing up a program. What I am trying to do is to setup a phrase like "Alexa, I am home" and for it to be dynamic with the time. If the time is before 6pm only turn on 1 set of lights else if the time is past 6pm I want it to turn on 5 sets of lights. I only want this program to run if I invoke using Alexa. Nothing else should run this. I have two scenes made already for daytime and night but I need help with the program that Alexa will call. Is this something that is doable?

Xathros your solution worked and I like how simple it is. The only thing that I don't understand is in the second program (the override one) is if the first program becomes disabled what will make it enabled again? What I want is for the light to come on and off after x minutes but if want to turn the light off manually earlier than the program by hitting the switch I don't want the program to the turn the light back on since its still in the window of time. So I like override piece but I want it to reset everyday so the next day the light comes on again. Right now it seems like its going to be disabled forever.

I finally understand the difference between control and status but I need some help with this basic program. I just want to have a set of lights turn on if they were already not on and then turn off 2 hours later. I also want to make sure if someone physically turns off the light during this timeframe for it to not turn back on. Will the program below work? Is there anything else I should check for? I just moved into a new house and most of the rooms are prewired for ceiling fans that all have two separate wall switches. One switch for the fan the other for the light. The problem is some of rooms I will never put in a light kit making the second switch useless. What can I do with switch? Can I repurpose it and put in a KeypadLinc? Will it work there? Has anyone ran into this issue?

I got one this morning. The discounted price sucked me in. Now I need to buy the ISY portal and I can start having some fun.
