  1. Ok, thanks. So any notion of just removing from the "test house" and plugging into the corresponding spot in the new house is not quite accurate. Good to know.
  2. I have this same upcoming issue. Currently I have all programming stemming from the ISY going out to all the switches (at least I think, still very new to all this). If the switches do get reset, once the ISY is installed, will the ISY re-write all logic to all of the devices when they connect? Not sure if I'm asking that question correctly or not. Thanks for any help here or any other tips you may have in preparing to move my "test home" setup into it's final location in about 9 months.
  3. I see from the VERY basic information on SC website that ISY can send triggers to SC to execute actions (like turning on a series of lights based on an ISY program - I think it can do that at least), and I see that you get feedback to SC to display current levels (which is great), but can you setup a trigger on SC (a button in the app for instance) that can send a trigger to ISY to do something (such as engage the ELK security module or run some complex program that what SC can control itself)? I'd probably buy the SC app just for the front-end GUI and it would still be a lot cheaper than Control4 or something on that end of things, but I'm hopeful. Just trying to figure out what is the best in class solution for a cobbled together HA system that delivers the functionality AND high-end look of something like Control 4 or Crestron, but on a much more modest budget.
  4. With my ISY less than a week out of the box, I was able to install several Insteon dimmer switches, a keypad and an assortment of other stuff. The lighting control is great, but integrating the keypad with Sonos (following this guide) brings it to a whole other level of awesome and my wife is now a believer (small miracle). Thank you to all of those who have contributed to this thread and the other ISY-Sonos threads. Couple of points for any newbies looking to do this: 1. It isn't that hard, just take your time and have a little patience. 2. If you want to do something like assign a keypad button to play a specific pandora channel, read this thread (http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/8121-sonos-on-a-keypadlinc/) and this one (http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14920-how-to-control-sonos-streaming-radio-stations/) and definitely download the Device Spy software, it makes it a snap along with the great instructions from chrishick and others. Once you get the basic concepts following those instructions, you'll discover you can do a lot of cool stuff. 3. The link to Device Spy in one of the threads was outdated, here is a current link: http://www.meshcommander.com/upnptools 4. It would have taken less than 30 minutes to do all this, if I hadn't beaten my head against the wall with reverting IP addresses... word to the wise: don't forget to Save your network programs when you make a change AND then click SAVE AGAIN from the main programs screen. I kept going back and forth wondering why my ip address changes weren't taking. So glad I didn't shell out many thousands for Control4! I will make a request of Universal Devices, or someone on these forums. Someone needs to create a very basic video introducing installing and configuring the network module and then briefly going through each of drop down choices and providing some syntax examples. Some are obvious, others are not.
  5. Recently purchased the ISY994 and I'm looking at the Simple Control Home app to serve as the UI front-end on a dedicated ipad. Currently comparing what it can control on the home automation side of things (the AV integrations look great). Do you know if they have fixed this yet? I'd very much like to be able to control the thermostat from the Simple Control app. It also seems you can control a variety of thermostats directly through Simple Control. Is there an advantage to controlling through ISY vs Simple Control directly? ISY seems much more powerful, but I need a nice front end UI for this to do what I want. Otherwise I fear opening the wallet for Control4 or something like that. Any help is appreciated!
