  1. Thanks for doing what you can. To answer your question, I'd much, much rather have faster program execution at the expense of IF update speed. I only use the ISY interface when configuring, programming or troubleshooting. People with touchscreens may have a different opinion. At the moment I have no touchscreen interfaces. I'm waiting for a better selection of touchscreen netbooks and then I'll probably try InterfaceGo on one. Possibly it would be possible to make the prioritization a config option in the ISY? I realize you don't want to get too 'config-heavy', but this seems like one of those places where different people may have very different needs.
  2. Just my two cents: Anything that could be done to improve (on my side or yours) the latency of programs' execution would be most appreciated IMHO. The delays are generally not huge, but there is a frustrating variability in the delays. And as the poster mentioned program response is in general noticeably slower and more variable than HS2. There are a great many things I'd prefer to do with programs - if it were possible I'd just get rid of linked scenes completely (other than for simple multiway switches). But the problematic and variable latencies in program execution really seem restrict their useability. If it is a matter of raw CPU horsepower or memory I for one would be happy to pay the extra cost for a higher-end unit. This thing totally rocks.

    How to do IR?

Thanks for the reply. The RF20 is - I sort of gather - the old-line standard for programmable remotes from Universal Remote. (The new one is the Digital R50 with the nice color screen.) It is not PC-programmable, but all of the buttons and labels seem to be fully configurable and/or trainable on the device. At least provided you have the patience of Mother Teresa and the fingers of a safecracker. Here is the product page: http://www.universalremote.com/product_ ... p?model=98 My main concern is reliability - do you know if there is an RF-to-IR remote solution that has some degree of noise and error rejection? This thing would be fine, but it seems to indiscriminately demodulate anything in it's passband and present it as IR. Is that true of the Harmonys also? A non-RF IR blaster would be very difficult to implement in this house. I'll try the Philips codes and see if it helps.

    How to do IR?

I could use a little advice on RF signalling to the ISY. I'm trying to rid myself of the little X10 keypads which I use purely to signal via RF. Since I have an ISY IR unit, RF IR seemed the logical way to go (I find the SH RemoteLincs functionally, esthetically and budget-challenged.) I should also say I only really need the RF control for the ISY/Insteon -- we're not really audiophiles and we have other solutions for remoteitis that work fine. So I ordered up one of the RFS200 kits - a Universal Remote RF20 and an RF-to-IR pickup. My first mistake was putting it inside my structured cabling cabinet where it began happily jibbering away from all the RF noise in there. Obiously not a lot of error band information on this guy. Moving the pickup out a few feet from the cabinet mostly got rid of the noise triggers (not totally). But then I discovered that pressing a key on the RF20 remote sometimes generates several IR codes in the ISY, sometimes one, sometimes none. Not always in a predicable way either. The pattern seems to vary somewhat depending on how long the key is pressed. It looks to be good moment to take a step back and ask the brain trust if there's a better (translate reliable) solution to this. I'll confess I'm not terribly enthusiastic about spending a grand on a couple of Harmony remotes and receiver, but if that works and it's the only reliable solution then that what I'll do. Any recommendations would really be appreciated.

    SMTP Server

I did - using these settings I found on the forum: server: smtp.gmail.com port: 587 user id: isyalerts@gmail.com password: holamola from: (leave blank) TLS: checked The log shows -14 and "TEST" gives "Request Failed!"

    SMTP Server

I upgraded to 2.7.2. The SMTP auth settings I'm using work fine when I put them in an Outlook account. This particular account only supports IMAP, not POP, for mail retrieval but I assume that isn't an issue since the ISY is only sending mail?

    SMTP Server

I've installed 2.7.2 and it had no effect. The email address is valid - it is my 'cox.net' email which is the ISP serving the house the ISY is in. I have the same settings in an Outlook email account which is working. I tried a different SMTP configuration through my business mail server (using SMTP AUTH) and listing my business email address as both the FROM and TO. I tried the outbound SMTP server both by name and IP address, and on both port 25 and an alternate port (3666). I clicked SAVE on everything before testing. I did not see any attempts whatsoever to connect in the mail server logs at all each time I clicked TEST so something is getting hosed early on for sure. The error in the log for this configuration is -14 when I click on TEST. Also, I discovered with this config. if I highlight the (one) email address in the list before clicking TEST then I don't get the error, but there still are no connects in the smtp server's log nor any test email being sent. Is highlighting the email address necessary for clicking TEST? It doesn't help in the original config - I get the "Invalid Request" error anyway.

    SMTP Server

Having trouble getting SMTP to work on my ISY99. I have tried - variously: my ISPs mail server (smtp.west.cox.net) port 25, no auth and my cox email my company's mail server with auth on port 25 and 366 "Use default" A UDI gmail login I found on the forum The email address I have in there is my cox email (recipient and sender), and I did click "Save" so the recipient address is definitely in there (it's the only one). No matter what I set though after a few seconds I get "Request Failed". Every once in a while it doesn't give that error, but no test message ever comes through. I have Outlook running on PCs on the LAN with the same SMTP settings so I'm pretty sure they're right. And I've pretty much run dry on ideas. Is there any logging or other way to see what's going on? If I have to I can put a network sniffer on the segment but that's a really painful way to go.
