Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but what is the best way to control my gas fireplace? it currently has a RF remote, but I want to be able to use the new 99i-IR to control it, so that I can create scenes and include the fireplace. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am wondering if the ISY has the ability to trigger an event based on an incoming e-mail? I know it can send e-mail to inform a status change, but I am wondering if the ability is there to trigger an event based on an e-mail that it receives. For instance, if I wanted the front lights to turn on at night, by sending an e-mail from my blackberry while on my way home? Possible or impossible? Thanks!

How does one become a beta tester?

So I don't own an ISY as of yet, but here is what I plan to do with it once I get it....waiting on 99ir 1. Master bath lights: If after 9:00 pm and before 7:00 am, and Master badroom main light is off, turn master-bath light on at 25%. 2. If Master-bathrooom lights are off, turn two outletlincs (in master bath) off. If Master Bath lights are on, turn two outlet lincs on (prevents curling iron and flat iron from accidentally being left on all day). 3. If after 10:00 pm and before sun-rise and guest bedroom light is single-pressed, turn hallway light on 25%, and guest bathroom light on 25%. If guest light is double pressed, turn guest bedroom light on 60%. 4. If Nursery key is pressed (keypadlinc) in master bedroom after 11:00 pm and before sunrise turn hall light on 25%, and nursery on 50% with a 15 second ramp rate (for nursery only) 5. When nursery light is turned on/off, use a longer ramp rate (not sure what this should be yet, but I am sure the wife will have an opinion on this). 6. Integration with my home theater and Harmony 1000 (turn lights on/off when watch dvd is pressed, turn hallway light and powder room light on (with ramp rates) if pause is pressed while watching DVD, etc. So not sure any of this falls under the "cool" category, but certainly functional....again, I don't own the ISY yet, so I haven't done any of this....hopefully it is all fairly easy to do....Would be interested to find out what some of you think about these ideas...

Does anyone know the best way to create light scenes using my Harmony remote control and the upcoming ISY-99ir? For instance, if I wanted to have a dinner time activity on my remote that changed my lights, would I have to program my remote with codes for each light that I wanted to change? Or would I program one Code that in effect controls a scene in the ISY? What I hope is that all I have to do is program one code in the "Dinner Time" activity, and when that code is received by the ISY, it runs a macro (or scene) that tells 6 different lights to act accordingly. And that I would program the ISY to know what those 6 different lights are, and how they are supposed to act. Does this make sense at all? I am trying to figure out how to best leverage my remote and the 99ir, and based on the remote itself, I am hoping to limit the complexity of the programing for the remote. I would rather the ISY handle the complexities, as I think it is much more stable than the remote itself. Thanks for your help!

Anyone know if the ISY 99ir will be able to automate cleanup???

So it seems like ISY-99i purchased directly from UD will be priced very close to ISY-26 purchased at SH? Also, are you continuing to make ISY-26, or are you replacing that with ISY-99? I think I will purchase 99i directly from UD as well.

Anxiously awaiting information on the 99.9 Should we expect release information anytime soon? Thanks so much!

Awwww, I read your post at Smarthome's forum: http://www.techmall.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2150 And assumed you were not going...sorry about that! Thanks again for the update, and all of the reviews!

UpstateMike and MikeB are two different people. Both quite active on the forum's though. Great report on EHX MikeB. Although I was surprised that you attended, I think you posted previously saying you wouldn't be able to go. I guess you decided it was to much to miss!!! Any update from UD on 99.9? A number of us are very interested in this product! Thanks.

Hi Frank, Glad to know someone else will be going through this at the same time as me. I noticed on your sig at the Smarthome Forum, you are going from 1 room and 2 switches to 1 floor and 10 switches. Based on your knowledge and activity in the forum's, I assume you have surpassed that already? I am in the process of going from a handful of switches in two rooms, to 20-25 switches throughout the house! I feel like I am sooo green with all of this home automation, but the forum's have been so helpful! Randy

I am a bit confused as to whether or not the ISY needs a network connection simply to configure with the use of a PC, or if it requires a network connection to operate in a business as usual mode. The reason I am asking, is I plan to house the IR enabled 99.9 device in my media closet, which does not currently have a network connection/router. My network connection/router is in my office. Ideally, I would like to configure the 99.9 in my office, but keep it full time in the media closet without network support. I rather have it in my media closet so I can use my current RF-IR Blaster to send lighting commands from my Universal remote to the 99.9 device. I understand that it obviously won't have any networking/internet functionality if it is not connected, but am wondering if everything else will work. If this doesn't work, I have two other options. 1. Purchase an additional RF-IR blaster from Logitech and keep it in the office with the 99.9 (this would cost an additional $150 or so). 2. Relocate my cable modem/wireless router to my media closet. This seems like an easy option, however, I use Vonage, and have a need to connect a physical phone to my vonage router in my office. Thanks for your help!
