I went and deleted the keypad. then upgraded to 4.03. I added in the keypad and put it back into the program, to try and control the garage door.

Here is what i logged after pressing on/off again.

I recall your previous post about what the keypad should be sending out. Its a new keypad, so I dont know why it would not be sending out what is expected to be sent. I'm not sure what you mean about the "link records"

This is a button press trace of a 2486D with firmware v.41. The entry in Blue taken a few minutes ago is missing from your trace.

Did you Factory Reset the KPL before adding it back to the ISY?

What is the KPL firmware level you are using? It is displayed on the right side of the node detail on line 2.

I just noticed that the communication from the KPL is poor. The Hops Left=0 indicates the message that was received from the KPL is at the extreme limit.

Suggest putting the KPL on an Appliance cord (plug on one end and bare wires on the other) and plug it into the same circuit as the PLM. It may be that the missing KPL message was sent but did not make it to the PLM location.

i actually took your suggestion the last time and put the keypad on a short cord so i could test it. i took it to the basement where i could plug it into the same outlet as the PLM which i did. pressing the button on/off didnt result in anything happening. But when i pressed the button a number of times, i could hear the Elk relay closing and the garage door moved.

When i take the keypad back upstairs and repeat the process, i get the same thing. after a large number of rapid succession button presses, i get the program to run correctly and the garage door opens.

here is another dump of the communications. there might be more in here then needed. Every time i walk past a motion detector, i get a large number of lines too.

The keypad version is V6.2 on it.

The messages in Blue have the correct format and the garage door moved in response. This trace is showing Hops Left=0. If this trace was taken with the KPL plugged into the PLM circuit there is something wrong with the Insteon Mesh network. There should be Hops Left=2 as in the case of the messages in the traces I have posted.
