Scene Test Doesn't Work For Recently Created Scenes

Recommended Posts

I'm running 4.0.3 and feel like I have some comms issues, seeing hops left=0 randomly, but am also seeing something else that makes troubleshooting that issue a bit harder.

Some scenes, probably those most recently created don't work at all with a Scene Test, though they work perfectly. Older scenes tested with Scene Test work fine.

Here's an old scene that tests fine;

And then here's what happens when I try a new scene I create the other day;

Any ideas? I have tried recreating scenes, re-adding devices etc.

The Hops Left=0 are fine in this case as Max Hops=1. These are messages from the device to the PLM and start off with a Max Hops=1. It is messages that have a Max Hops=3 with a Hops Left=0 that indicate comm problems.

The PLM link database has problems. For the first Scene Test trace posted there are duplicate ACKs for the same device which means the PLM has duplicate link records for the same Scene/Device combination.

The Scene Test that failed looks like the PLM link database is full as the Scene Test command received a 15 response from the PLM. This indicates the PLM does not have any link records for that Scene number.

Suggest doing a Restore Modem (PLM) to clean up the PLM link database.

Thanks Lee. I am getting multiple ACK's elsewhere, which, coupled with instances of Max Hops=3 with a Hops Left=0, has me thinking there's a comms problem.

So a restore PLM, to clean it up you say. OK. I can do that. Thanks.

Restoring the PLM will not have an effect on Max Hops=3 Hops Left=0 comm problems. Those are comm issues which have to be evaluated. Cleaning up the PLM link database should allow new Scenes to be created and eliminate the multiple ACKs from duplicate PLM link records. There is a small chance the total links needed in the PLM exceed the PLM capacity after compressing out the duplicates. Normally using the Restore Modem (PLM) to eliminate duplicates makes enough room for new Scenes.

So Restore PLM wasn't as bad as I feared - despite being told to have all remotelincs set into programming mode, that wasn't needed and the route seemed to just write a bunch of records like this

Tue 04/30/2013 04:42:41 PM : [MNG-LNK-RSP ] 02 6F 40 E2 19 0F 45 F7 02 08 32 06

It wrote about 500. I then tried creating a new scene, same issue. I then restored again, and now it seems to be working. I did the same scene test that worked earlier, with the duplicate records, and that seems ok now.

Thanks again Lee. Now I need to figure out my Hops Left = 0 issue.
