Elk Connected Thermostats

I have a heat pump and may not be able to use the insteon thermostats. If I connect a Omnistat to the Elk, with the elk module, what kind of interaction do I have in the ISY?

 

I plan on having some dampers controlled by Insteon and wanted to be able to create rules through isy to turn on the AC from the thermostat connected to elk and close the insteon controlled dampers through a keypadlinc switch. Would this be possible?

 

Can I create any rules from ISY to tell the Omnistat connected to the elk to do anything or get feedback?

 

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
