I recently upgraded to the 994i but did not upgrade my PLM (it's a 2412). Is there merit in upgrading to the 2413 as far as speed/dependability. I am not having problems with the 2412. I have read on the forum of reliabiltiy issues with the 2413. Should I leave well enough alone?

The 2413 is a Dual Band device which could add to the reliability of the Insteon network. As far as speed of Insteon messages on the powerline there is no difference. The 2413 has a faster processor which can result in a link database lookup being faster but I doubt that would be observable. The 2413 supports fewer links in the PLM although storing more links in the 2412 than the 2413 will handle can have link lookup issues for the 2412 so that is not likely an issue.

 

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I see no reason to replace the 2412 if it is working for you.
