ELK / Lighting Integration question ISY-994i

v101

Recommended Posts

Hello ISY users

I recently purchased the ELK security module for the ISY. so far I have been able to get my ISY connected to my ELK and its working properly.

I also have "Exported" my scenes into the ELK and now I can control my lighting on my ELK touch screens, except its rather time consuming as I have to go screen by screen 1 at a time to get to the light / scene i want to control...

According to the ELK Navigator manual, I should be able to see 4 scene's per screen on the ELK navigator display screen. However I get this message "synchronize keypad to see available lighting"

I read over the manual, and it doesn't say much other than whatever lighting you have build out under AUTOMATION on the ELKRP software, will be accessable.

ANy ideas on this? or how to get around this issue/problem?

I only import ISY scenes into the Elk. This way I don't have to reimport when I change or add devices to a scene. I also use the Elk only for event based lighting changes which I do not need to tweak once configured. One, the Elk has a known systemic issue with DST. Two, it's much easier to create programs and time based lighting events in the ISY. Although not necessary, you can purchase the Elk module for the ISY so you could conceivably put all your rules/programs in the ISY itself.

Since you have the Elk and ISY I suggest you look at Mobilinc or eKeypad mobile apps for control of both systems rather than trying to use the Elk keypads for lighting control.

Yes used the ISY to export the scenes I wanted, and successfully imported this into the ELK.

The ELK appears to be working properly. However when I go up to the keypad and click the lighting screen. it says

"Synchronize keypad to see available lighting"

I think there must be a step that is missing, or something else that I need to do....

If I click the button "SINGLE VIEW" then I can see each scene indiviually, but then it takes a L-O-N-G time to scan through each scene to get to the one that you want to turn on/OFF, etc.

In the ELK manual it says that you can view 4 lighting at the same time, and then scroll through them. the screen has a DIM section, and on/OFF area as well. which I am not seeing...

ANy ideas? or how does your keypad work for viewing the lights?

I do also have / use MOBILINC, it works great, and also have the ELK Security MOdule add on for the ISY, so I can control the ELK via mobilinc.

It's been so long since I set up my Elk, although I seem to recall something. Perhaps there is something in the Elk owners manual which you can force the keypad to sync lighting devices.

I programmed my Elk to turn on all the house lights if an any alarm or emergency is triggered. Aside from that my Elk rules are event based only, e.g. Front door open, after dusk, turn on porch light.
