ctviggen1
I'm trying to add motion sensors to my network. The entire network is brand new, new ISY994i, all new switches, all new sensors, four wireless repeaters (aka access points) spread throughout the house. I've tried three different sensors and none of them work, no matter how close I put them to the plm or an access point. To add a sensor, I go to link management, link a sensor, motion sensor, then type in the information. The PLM info says it's connected. I'm on firmware and UI of 4.1.2. What else can I try? This is what I get: Sat 01/25/2014 03:44:24 PM : [27 b7 4d ] Added to list of devices to link to ISY Sat 01/25/2014 03:44:46 PM : [27 B7 4D 0 ] Failed to add device, reason 3 Sat 01/25/2014 03:44:46 PM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices Sat 01/25/2014 03:49:00 PM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices Sat 01/25/2014 03:49:54 PM : [ Time] 15:49:57 2(0) Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:10 PM : [27 b7 4d ] Added to list of devices to link to ISY Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:10 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 27 B7 4D 0F 0D 00 Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:10 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 27.B7.4D 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:19 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 27 B7 4D 0F 0D 00 Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:19 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 27.B7.4D 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:28 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 27 B7 4D 0F 0D 00 Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:28 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 27.B7.4D 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:32 PM : [27 B7 4D 0 ] Failed to add device, reason 3 Sat 01/25/2014 03:58:32 PM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices
LeeG
Device 27 B7 4D is not responding to the three attempts to determine the Insteon Engine. Three commands were sent, the device did not respond. This is a battery device that goes to sleep so it cannot normally respond to commands. It must be put into linking mode by pressing its Set button until Red LED blinks continuously. The do the New INSTEON Device procedure. When one battery device is added be sure it is no longer in linking mode before moving to the next device.
ctviggen1
Thank you. I will give that a try today. By the way, there is no written information that tells me to do this. Maybe this could be added to the ISY program?
ctviggen1
Ha! That worked. There are three of them, though, in the Admin console, S, D, and L. Any idea why? I also found this site that discusses how to link these: http://homeautomationguru.com/insteon-motion-controlled-lights/
LeeG
The node names have a size limit. Rename them to something smaller. The S is Sensor, D is Dusk.Dawn, L is Low Battery There should have been a popup displayed when selecting Motion Sensor There are also instructions in the UDI Wiki http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... ion_Sensor
