Controlling button backlights on Key Pad Dimmer 2334-222

I am fairly new to Insteon devices, but have so far had no problem making them do what I want. I have a universal Devices ISY. I am getting pretty good at configuring that box.

Here is situation and problem:

I have an Insteon 8 key 2334-222 keypad dimmer. I currently have it programmed to turn 7 different lights on/off by directly controlling Insteon Dimmer outlets 2472D. This works fine.

I have button "H" set to turn ON / OFF the "Couch Light. (Toggle)

I have an Insteon MiniRemotes 2342-222. I have one of button pairs set to turn ON / OFF the "Couch Light".

What I want to do is to be sure that the "H" button on the 8 keypad turns on/off in sync with the "Couch Light" even if I turn the "Couch Light" on from the Mini-Remote.

I can do this by creating a scene where the mini is the controller, and the "H" key and the "couch light" are responders. And this works OK.

But the problem is when I have a scene that is an "All On" triggered from a mini-remote, I want to be sure that back light on each key on the 8 Key Pad stays in sync with the status if it's corresponding light (Responder).

I have looked at the Back Light level programmatic control, but this seems to be just a way to set how bright the button is when the status is on or off. Not a way to actually turn the light on or off.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Michael

It sounds as if your understanding of scenes, controllers, and responders is very good. I am not sure that I can add anything, but will try, just in case.

I assume your scene "all on" is a scene you created. Make sure it has all the outletlincs and corresponding keypads, all as responders. Are there any other buttons that you intend to use to turn on or off ALL ON? Make sure that button or device is a controller.

Your understanding is the same as mine with regards to back lights...that just sets the level for when a button is ON or OFF.

This extra Scene is not necessary.

ISY Scene xxxx

KeypadLinc button H Controller

Remote Mini button ? Controller

ToggleLinc Controller

This single ISY Scene will cross-link the devices so they stay in sync.

The All On Scene now includes the individual devices. Add to this ISY Scene the KeypadLinc buttons as Responders. The KeypadLinc buttons will turn On as the other Responder devices.
