Garage Door Opener Lights connected to switchlink?

Hi everyone. Seems like a simple requests for input or advice but need some quick help.

Currently I have a hardwired momentary OEM garage door opener by the garage entry door. This remote has both open /close and garage door opener lights on off buttons. shared by same 2 wires.

I assume the light push button is a momentary contact switch pulses and output to turn the garage door lights on and off. I would like to keep its existing functionality (ie on with garage door operation and off with a timer after a certain number of minutes). This remote is hardwired within a foot to switchlnc that controls my other garage lights.

My goal would be to control the indoor existing garage lights( controlled by switchlinc switch) to also control the lights on the garage door opener. I knew when I started drawing wiring diagrams I was probably making this too complicated.

Has anyone had any luck with this?

I'm thinking a relay but not sure on specifics

Also dont want door to open and close each time I turn on garage lights.

Thanks in advance,

Cazz

You would have to determine the resistance of the lighting button when it is pressed. Then you would have to create a dry contact using an insteon relay device to pulse that same resistance to the control panel using a relay wired in parallel to the opener.

If you have a "Smart" control panel that has the time, temp, and can program transmitters without going to the opener then you will have to wire directly to the tact switch that is under the light control button.

The problem here is this, how does the relay device know when the light is on of off? From what I can see from your question, it wouldn't. A pulse could turn it on of off at the wrong time and them if could also be out of sync if someone uses the light button on the GDO controller without some sort of monitoring.

You would be better off installing a Garage door contact and monitoring when the door opens. You could then use a program to turn on the swithclinc lights that already exist as your GDO lights.

Well you are pretty close to my initial mental design.

I was going to plan on soldering a parallel resistance contact across the exist gdo wall switch.

This would be controlled via a 120vac normally closed? latching relay with control being "energized" by the load of the switchlinc garage light controls wire/neutral. This would pulse as the light is switched on or off.

This would be pretty close but would require some tweaking to not simulate a open close command to the gdo.

I do have a kit on the gdo already to control it's operation and status seperately. This design would leave the gdo lights timed open close function as is.
