text message notifications

When sending a notification via text message to my Cingular phone, the test message gets broken up into 3 pieces because it is too long - thus costing me 3x as much $.

Not sure if other carriers might have the same issue...

Would it be possible to maybe have an option to compress the text message down to 2 or 3 lines? I would think just the first 2 lines of the current message would be sufficient - program name, and event info.

Thanks!

Of course there is always someone who wants more!

I would like to be able to send the regular notification to one email address and emergency notifications to my text address.

I am not sure that I need the compact form for this "emergency" notification, but it would probably be better to be able to choose the format on the notification settings for each address.

Perhaps in the Program page the drop down for Notify could be expanded to Notify Full and Notify Compact. Of course, then we will want to select from more than just All as the recipient. Which will lead to the desire for aliases for the notifyees :)
