Rogers Smart Home and ISY994i

Hey guys, Im about to get the Alarm System from Rogers, the Smart Home one…

My wife heard about a few break ins in our area and she is a little worried about that.

I know Elk could do the job but for some reason she is not really confident about me doing the whole alarm system…

So I was wondering if the rogers devices like "Motion Sensors", "door sensors" and what not would be able to be "controlled" by ISY994i (the one I have).

I heard they use Z-Wave accordantly to the installer guy.

Let me hear what you guys have to say about it.

Thanks in advance !

Most likely the alarm sensors are not z-wave. That support would be a nightmare.

Do you know what the main panel will be?

It would probably be something like I had with FrontPoint/Alarm.com - a Simon XT panel, that used GE sensors, coupled with Z-wave switches. Very basic stuff, usually a closed system, and not much more than "when door opens, turn on light."

Although I do not have any of the Rogers Home Monitoring Equipment, I found this on the web:

Rogers is using Proprietary broadband alarm equipment made by iControl that integrates monitored home security systems to the Rogers Network. The problem with using a proprietary security system is you are literally going to have to stay with Rogers forever unless you are willing to purchase a completely new security system from a new security provider. Broadband equipment is network specific and cannot be integrated in a reverse scenario unless it happens to be another cable provider that can provide services using the same kind of equipment. The chances of that are slim to none as cable providers are licensed providers by the CRTC.

Hope this helps your decision - personally I would convince my wife that I certainly WAS HANDY and do it yourself with an ELK System - HA!

As a side note - I do not have an ELK System either but from what I understand the Elk Gold System is the way to go ...

Thanks PardueGuy and dstanley for the reply, I was thinking of purchasing the Z-Wave module to try and see if I can link the sensors (there is a link button inside the sensors). Im sure soon we will be able to communicate with this system. The installer told me Rogers is using the system from a american company (I don't remember the name) and this was Z-Wave device ...
