max90034 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I am planning to install heated kitchen floor at vacation house. Are there any thermostats to control floor electrical heating that would be compatible with isy994? Thanks.
jmed999 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 You could easily write a program to turn the heated floors on at a set indoor temp with the ISY compatible stats.

But I thought that heated floor may need different stat (I still have to talk to my contractor) and my question was if any of stats applicable for floor heating are compartible with isy.

Brian H Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 If the heated floor controls are 24 volt AC then you maybe able to use an Insteon Thermostat. Your contractor should have the needed information for you. Post your findings. As there maybe a work around if they are switching the line power through the thermostats directly.

kck Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Are you using the floor heat for room heat or just to take the chill off the floor. If the latter there is usually a sensor put in the floor that is remoted to a thermostat. For my bathroom with that set up I just use an old style non-electronic thermostat that is set to the max temp that I'd like the floor at and in series with that I put an Insteon on/off in line switch. I do not try to control the temp of the floor since for this application the only real purpose of the thermostat is to avoid overheating. But I don't want to always be heating the floor so this way I have a "prep bath" button on our bedstand keypads that turns on the floor heat as well as doing other bathroom setup for lights, hot water recirc, towel heater, etc. in case they are not yet set. I then have a program to turn the heat off after a set time (or alternately turn it off via a dedicated keypad button).
max90034 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Thanks for all responses! Heated floor should be installed in kitchen and 3 bath. I would like to be able to turn it on remotely when we drive there in winter (as I do now to rise the temp on the main thermostat).
