AD8BC Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 You know what would be really cool? Some sort of module for the ISY to support something like this Ethernet IO Module: http://www.winfordeng.com/products/eth32.php Device Features New!: Devices with firmware v3.000 and above (now shipping) support DHCP. New!: Devices with firmware v3.000 and above also now provide 256 bytes of user-accessible EEPROM memory storage (non-volatile - maintained through power loss). A total of 34 I/O lines All I/O lines can function as digital I/O, each being individually configurable as an input or an output Eight of the I/O lines support analog readings with a 10-bit ADC TCP/IP communication over 10BaseT Ethernet allows flexibility in placement and usage Event monitoring allows the device to monitor digital I/O lines, analog signal thresholds, and counter values and notify a PC when criteria has been met. This allows very fast monitoring of signals without introducing any network traffic until something significant happens 32 of the digital I/O lines support event monitoring Analog signals can also be monitored by the device, with events fired whenever the signal falls below or rises above user-defined thresholds Supports five simultaneous TCP/IP connections, allowing multiple computers to monitor and control the device Two user-controllable status LEDs directly on the ETH32 Two of the I/O lines can be configured as digital counters, one 16-bit and one 8-bit. Hardware Events are also supported on the counters. A counter can be configured so that an event fires when the counter reaches a specified value. Two of the I/O lines can be configured as PWM outputs. We'd never have to touch an EZIO again!
io_guy Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 A little pricey. A WebControl board or Raspberry Pi can do similar for a lot cheaper.
Scyto Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Sure and the Pi is fun, but perhaps it isn't turnkey enough for some of us - direct integration of a device into ISY is preferable in my opinion.

Fair enough and a very good point. However, You mentioned in another post that you were also looking for DSC support as well. Taking the time to setup a Raspberry Pi opens up the door to virtually endless linking possibilities (many posts here on what others are doing). The community support here on the forum is second to none in helping beginners get up and running.
AD8BC Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Yeah I like the PI too. But not a lot of native IO. Would be cool to try an Arduino with ethernet as well and play with that. But I like the idea of an all-in-one premade solution in an enclosure with inputs and outputs and analogs with some sort of direct variable and tag access to each of them. Would appeal to more people. Here's a $35 unit, needs a case... http://www.saelig.com/product/BRD017.htm No analog IO but nice DIN rail mount and not too expensive: http://www.audon.co.uk/ethernetrelay/edam9050.html
gatchel Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 It would be cool if ISY supported a TON of different things on that note. Anything without Form C Dry Contacts is a waste. That's why Elk is such a good match. You can pick and choose voltage or relays and you can do analog voltages to the main board. Agreed on the EZIO comments...
