Access Point 2443 Installation Locations

Recommended Posts

All,

I just purchased two of these in hopes to solve the lack of communication I am having with my IOLinc in the garage (see post viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14413). In any case I as just wondering what is the best place to install these to gain maximum communication. I have a two story house and the only devices I have so far are an SwitchLinc, Dual Phase PLM and IOlink (all on the first floor).

Thanks

I would suggest you install the first one up stairs in a central location.

Take the other one down stairs and find an outlet that confirms coupling via the 4 tap test outlined in the manual.

Once done it really comes down to RF devices such as MS, leak sensor, open / close sensors, etc.

Teken . . .

Another option is to place both near the panel and near each other. My suspicion is that gives one the best communication between legs of the electrical system and best communication across the powerlines. The downside is that this probably does not optimize RF coverage or RF communication among the dual-band devices.

Still, there may be times when this is the better option. Pick one that works for you.
